List of planets in Invader Zim
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Most of the planets shown in Invader Zim belong to the Irken Empire, or are slated for conquest under the Irken initiative, Operation Impending Doom Two. Here's a list of planets seen in the series, and some short notations on what sorts of beings you can expect to find there.
[edit] Blorch
Formerly known as the home of the Slaughtering Rat People, this planet is seen in Episode 1 and is assigned to Invader Skoodge during the great assigning for Impending Doom II. Skoodge defeats the planet. Later, as the planet is being purged of all remaining life, the Tallest quite off-handedly decide to convert it into a parking structure planet. This is rather illogical, as once someone parks on the planet, they have nowhere to go. A solution to this is seen in "The Frycook What Came from All That Space," wherein Sizz-lor, Zim's former employer, sets his ship down on Foodcourtia, and it is deconstructed by a lazer-like device marked "Parking." Presumably, the parking units atomize and teleport the ships to a parking structure planet, where they are stored until called upon by their owners again and reconstructed at their request. Blorch also has two moons that orbit in perpendicular directions. Blorch has a Uranus-like ring surrounding it.
[edit] Boodie Nen
A planet of creatures with large nostrils. Currently on the Irken Empire's list of planets to conquer, this world is under assault by Invader Slacks. Seen in "Walk For Your Lives"
[edit] Callnowia
A huge computerized planet seemingly devoid of life, Callnowia serves as a delivery center for a galactic TV-shopping network. Callnowia is seen in the season 1 episode "Germs" where Zim orders a pair of germ spotting micro-goggles, which is fired from Callnowia to Earth disguised as a meteorite. Upon landing on Zim's doorstep, a robotic hand emerges from the meteorite, rings Zim's doorbell, then the meteorite's outer shell crumbles leaving a cardboard box.
It can be assumed that Callnowia was a planet before it was conquered and renamed, like many other planets conquered by the Irken Armada. However, in the episode Germs, (this is also the only time the viewer ever sees Callnowia) the viewer sees beneath the package-launching surface of the planet to see an automated system of package-transferring systems contained in a metallic hollow space. This is evidence that the planet was actually built rather than conquered and converted. An argument for the "formerly a planet" theory lies in the episode "Megadoomer," where an enslaved race works on yet another packaging planet(Conveyoorus), and one of them makes a speech about being conquered and their planet taken, this planet is also completely mechanical, but the slave makes no direct reference to it being his former planet. The conclusions drawn from this are either that it is his planet, converted to mechanical works post-takeover, or this is yet another artificially created planet, which slaves are forced to work on. However, planet Callnowia is completely automated, due to the history of the Irken's enslavement policies (I.E. Vort), it would fit that the Irken would reconstruct the conquered world and force it's former inhabitants to work there, simply for the "insult to injury" factor, otherwise the planet has no reason not to be automated.
However, in the audio commentary for the episode "The Frycook What Came from All That Space", Jhonen Vasquez implies that Callnowia was in fact conquered and converted. When asked about the creation of Foodcourtia, Jhonen explains that the custom of the Irkens is to take over planets and give them one specific purpose. He then lists "A parking garage planet, Foodcourtia, Callnowia..." thus giving the impression that Callnowia was originally a regular planet with life on it.
[edit] Conveyoorus
This planet is composed of giant inter-connected conveyor belts that wrap around the planet. It was never named, but when shown in the episode Megadoomer, it appeared to be a planet inhabited by small creatures, each with a large screw in their head who, after being subjugated by the Irken Empire were forced to continuously ship packages throughout the universe.
[edit] Conventia
The Irken convention-hall planet, where Irkens gathered to watch the formal assigning of Invaders to their planets for Operation Impending Doom II. The planet is fitted with massive soundstages, smoke machines, optical lasers, and nacho and snack-stands. Seen in "The Nighmare Begins" and "The Frycook What Came From All That Space."
[edit] Devastis
Devastis is a training center for the elite Irken troops. It is here that Control Brains evaluate potential Invader candidates. Both Zim and Tak are seen to have been trained on Devastis in the episode Tak, the Hideous New Girl. Zim accidentally wiped out power to half of the planet while using a giant robot of doom to get a snack (referred to by Jason Stiff as 'a little somethin somethin' in the commentary) out of a vending machine.
[edit] Dirt
This planet appears to be nothing more than a landfill for garbage and scrapped military equipment. Tak is assigned/banished to a janitorial squad here in the episode "Tak, the Hideous New Girl" when she couldn't complete her Invader training.
[edit] Earth
The planet that we humans call home, Earth is a planet of hideous chihauhas, dumb primates, and scary monkeys. Earth is blissfully unaware of the painfully obvious threat the Irken Empire poses. It is located at the extreme edge of space known to the Irkens (they weren't even entirely certain there was a planet there). It's here that Zim was exiled by the Almighty Tallests after he "quit" his exile to Foodcourtia after learning of Operation Impending Doom II. Zim is blissfully unaware of this new exile, thinking it's his own very special assignment.
The people of Earth as a whole (with a few exceptions) are depicted as idiotic and ignorant. Most are unable to realize that Zim is not human despite rather obvious clues, those that do realize this are unable to successfully act on this information or (after witnessing Zim's incompetence) simply do not find the information of any concern.
[edit] Exploding Head Planets
Red once remarked that Zim should have been sent to "one of those exploding head planets." It is unknown if they exist. It is a reference to Jhonen's famous head-exploding joke.
[edit] Flobee's Mission Planet
A planet inhabited by beings of pure rock. Invader Flobee and his S.I.R. took over this planet, disguising themselves simply by strapping rocks to their foreheads and chests.
[edit] Foodcourtia
The main setting for The Frycook What Came from All That Space, Foodcourtia is a planet consisting of nothing but restaurants. Zim was banished here and was forced to work under the rule of Frylord Sizz-Lorr until he decided to quit being banished. Foodcourtia reassures all Irkens visiting that no H2O is used, and offers Invaders a special discount. Every so often, there is an event called the "Great Foodening", where the collective masses of thousands and thousands of aliens snack so powerfully that it enhances the gravity well around the planet. It lasts 20 years on Foodcourtia, but due to a "time-warp thing", much less time passes outside. During the Great Foodening, no ships can leave the surface of the planet, and the Snacky Cab taxi service that serves Foodcourtia shuts down for the duration. All cabs not docked will explode for no apparent reason.
[edit] Hobo 13
The finest military training planet ever - according to the Tallest, anyway. As an attempt to stall Zim's requests for more powerful weaponry, and GIR's for taquitos, they tell him he will be evaluated here to prove his worth as a soldier. The planet is desert-dry and full of dangers, including the horrible Meat-thirsty Hogulus which lives in a canyon on the surface, flying robot snakes, laser-turreted mazes, and face-chewing monsters in swamps, as well as deep chasms and ravines. Apparently run by many soldiers, such as Sgt. Hobo, the planet is home to the Fortress of Pain and possibly also the Outhouse of Madness, and the Holding Pen of Pain. Though the last two are not seen nor confirmed to be on the planet, and every time someone is teleported there they are sent up out of the atmosphere, leading to the belief that they are on another planet or station. Appears in the episode of the same name.
[edit] Irk
The home planet of the Irken Empire. It is a technologically advanced planet of bipedal insectoids known as Irkens, a very aggressive and arrogant race bent on universal conquest and enslavement. The sky of Irk is pink, and most Irken activity on homeworld appears to take place below the surface, as freshly-hatched Irkens spend their first ten years of life in training simulators underground. From what has been shown, there is no vegetation on Irk to speak of, and there seem to be no species of animal native to the planet but the Irkens. It is reasonably sure that there is little to no water on Irk, as the inhabitants of the planet are severely allergic to it. There is also an assumption that the Irken sun is much dimmer than Earth's sun. Possible indications include the large size of Irken eyes, as well as the fact that Zim tried to stare into the Earth's sun, burning his eyes. This may be due to the fact that he has never seen a star up close, if he lived beneath the Irken surface for most of his life.
[edit] Judgementia
A planet where Irken courts are held. This was to appear in the cancelled episode The Trial.
[edit] Mars & Mercury
The episode Battle of the Planets shows that Mars was once populated with advanced aliens who worked themselves into extinction converting their planet into a spaceship (because it's cool). Zim activated the Face on Mars, discovering it to be the planet's control panel, and set off to roll Mars over Earth's surface to squish the human race. In response, Dib hijacked the Butt on Mercury (a lesser known structure than the Face on Mars but just as mysterious) and used the planet to foil Zim's plan. After a short battle, Zim abandoned Mars, letting it run wildly through the asteroid belt and out loose into the galaxy, where it wiped out a sizable portion of the Irken Armada; the fate of Mercury isn't known.
[edit] Meekrob
A planet apparently inhabited by beings of pure energy that can change their forms at will. Two Meekrob visit Dib in a hologram in Dib's Wonderful Life of Doom, but whether or not the real Meekrob are actually pure energy is unknown. Invader Tenn is in the process of Invading this world. If the Meekrob are anything like Zim's simulation of them, they're extraordinarily arrogant.
[edit] Nhar-Gh'ok
Home to the Nhar-Gh'ok, an alien species that looks exactly like human babies. It is never seen, but its inhabitants are in the episode "Plague of Babies."
[edit] Planet Jacker Homeworld
Although the location of the Planet Jacker's homeworld is unknown, it is known that the Planet Jacker race has a treaty with the Irken Empire. Any planets marked by the Irken military for Invasion are to be left where they are in space. Naturally, the Almighty Tallest didn't bother to tell the Planet Jackers that they sent Zim to Earth. The Planet Jackers capture unclaimed planets (of which Earth is one), encase the planet and its moons and any orbiting bodies in hollow metal spheres with television screen interiors, and drag them off to throw them into their solar system's dying star. They like inhabited planets best for this purpose, because "critters burn good".
[edit] Planet of Broken Glass
Purple once remarked that they should have given Zim a mission on a sun or a "planet of broken glass." It is unknown if there really is such a planet.
[edit] Plookesia
Home to the two aliens in Vindicated!. Very little is known about it, though they do seem to have a knack for creating massively powerful super weapons which they'll gladly give to whoever asks for them. The Plookesians are born without arms, so they wear mechanical suits with artificial arms attached above their heads.
[edit] Saturn
In Battle of the Planets, Saturn is briefly shown, with Mars and Mercury passing through its rings.
[edit] Sirus Minor
In Door to Door, on a hot summer day, Zim remarks that even Sirus Minor didn't orbit such a hot sun. This shows that Sirus Minor is a very hot place, though perhaps not as hot as Earth on a summer day.
[edit] Skutch's Mission Planet
Invader Skutch was sent to an unknown planet to conquer it. Zim looks through his telescope to see how much further ahead he is than Skutch, only to find that the entire planet is in ruins and Skutch is laughing maniacally.
[edit] Stink's Mission Planet
Invader Stink was sent to a highly-technological planet, and successfully conquered it. The Massive is seen hovering above it in the episode Megadoomer. In the episode Planet Jackers, Stink is seen relaxing on a hill, as the entire planet burns around him.
[edit] Storage Planet
An entirely mechanical planet, apparently used for storing Irken equipment. It is possible that Irken equipment is also created there as well.
[edit] Taoola and Charcunga
In Mortos Der Soulstealer, these are the two planets, that when aligned, release Mortos.
[edit] Vort
Home of the universe's most comfortable couch and a very smart race. Also part of the assigning from Episode 1, this planet is assigned to Invader Larb, who was originally assigned Blorch, but reassigned to Vort due to his increased height. In the episode "Backseat Drivers from Beyond the Stars" Vort is further explained to have been a former ally of the Irkens, and provided Irkens with advanced technology. However, this did not stop the Irkens from invading Vort and converting the planet into the Irken Empire's most advanced research prison. All of the Vortian ships (save one) were destroyed. The last Vortian ship was utilized by the resistance against the Irken Empire (The Resisty) and was lead by a Vortian called Lard Nar. The Ship was soon destroyed through shrinky self destruct when set on a collision course with Earth (more specifically Dib's giant head) in the episode "Backseat Drivers from Beyond the Stars". Zim was briefly stationed here, and unleashed an energy-eating creature that devoured Tallest Miyuki, and later, Tallest Spork.
Vetkins exploding systems were installed for a short period into a Vort prison, but many escaped by hiding in garbage tanks, as the system cannot read a bio signature if it's surrounded with enough thickness.
