[edit] Biggest movers

The following is a small summary of the singles that made the fastest jumps into the top 10 within only a week after spending the start of their time on the chart at the bottom end.

On January 30, one of the biggest movers up the chart was Christina Aguilera's What A Girl Wants which went from being #39 the week previous to #2 becoming #1 a week later.

Only being in the top spot for a week, February 13 saw Aguilera "dethroned" by the Vengaboys's Kiss (When The Sun Don't Shine) which went from #49 to #1 within a week. This was a week long as the Vengaboys tumbled to #4 the following week.

March 5 saw a big climb from the single Don't Call Me Baby by Madison Ave which went from #34 to #2 after 16 weeks on the chart, later on in the month becoming the #1 in New Zealand. On March 26, Madonna's American Pie, after 12 weeks on the chart, surged from #38 to #6.

April 9 saw *NSync's Bye Bye Bye go from being #37 to taking out the #1 spot from Madison Ave.

After only having been on the chart for seven weeks, May 7 saw Destiny's Child's single, Say My Name climb from #40 to #4. Later that same month, on May 21, Toni Braxton's He Wasn't Man Enough climbed the charts from #36 to #9 within a week.

On June 4, Britney Spears’ single Oops I Did It Again raced up the chart from #30 to take out the #1 spot. While two weeks later, a lesser but significant chart jump saw Billie Piper’s, formerly Billie, single Day & Night climb from #42 to #6.

August 13’s chart saw the Bomfunk MCs Freestyler race up the chart from #36 to #3. On September 10, the single became New Zealand’s #1

Pink’s debut song Most Girls climbed up the chart from #35 to #9 during the week of October 22.

On November 19, the Baha Men’s Who Let The Dogs Out went from #32 to #4, becoming #1 a week later, on November 19.

On February 20, the first single to debut in the top 10 was TLC's Dear Lie. March 5, saw Aqua's Cartoon Heroes debut at #6 on the chart. A week later on March 12, Brian McKnight's Back at One debut at #9

On March 26, S Club 7's Two in a Million was the first single that year to debut at the #1 spot only to slip to #6 a week later.

April 16 saw the Vengaboys gained another New Zealand #1, with their single Shalala Lala debuting at the top spot.

The third single to debut in the #1 spot in 2000 was Bardot's Poison on May 7, staying there for three weeks. May 27 saw Anastacia's debut song, I'm Outta Love debut at #7, making the top spot 6 weeks later on July 2.

July saw three songs debut into the Top 10. July 9 saw Daphne & Celeste’s second single U.G.L.Y. debut at #7. July 16 saw the Vengaboys’ third single released in 2000, Uncle John From Jamaica, debut at #5 and July 23 had Kylie Minogue’s Spinning Around debut at #8. However, none of these songs made it to the #1 spot.

The Corrs’s single, Breathless debuted at #8 on August 6 while the final single to have the highest debut was Modjo’s Lady (Hear Me Tonight) on November 5 debuting at #8 as well.
