- Sonic, Toronto Opened April 29, 2006 by the owners of Stereo (Grammy Award Winner David Morales along with his partner local entrepreneur Nevio Persia).
- Stereo in Montreal, Canada, continually voted one of the top afterhours nightclubs in the world, incredible sound system, hence "Stereo".

- Beverly Hills Supper Club, Southgate, Kentucky, 1971–1977, elegant dining with light vocal and popular music, burned to the ground on May 28, 1977, killing 165 of more than 2,000 people in attendance.
- The Bitter End, New York City: A Landmarked Jazz club.
- Black Banana, Philadelphia, 1970-1995, premier members-only club, responsible for bringing most trends and styles to fruition in Philadlephia. Josh Wink started his career there along with the legendary Vagabond parties.
- Bondage A Go-Go, San Francisco, 1993-current, claims to be the city's longest-running fetish dance party. BaGG features Go-Go dancers and live BDSM play.
- Free-Balling: Gilligan Enterprises, Hartford, Massachusetts old, popular gay club, known for wild on-stage activities. Free-Balling got its name from the owner's affinity with going without underwear.
- CBGB, New York, 1973-2006, regarded as the birthplace and center of American punk rock.
- The Click, Greensboro, North Carolina. Live music.
- Club Foot, Austin, Texas, 1980s. Large live-music venue featuring punk rock, blues, reggae and many other kinds of music.
- Club Universe, San Francisco, trend setting gay nightclub which existed from 1994 to 2002.
- Club Space, Miami, one of the first clubs in the United States to have an unrestricted liquor license, enabling them to serve liquor far beyond standard closing times.
- Danceteria, New York, 1980s. Frequented by Madonna. Had appearances by avant-garde performance artists such as John Sex.
- Eden Nite Club, Colorado Springs, 2005-Current. Go-Go dancers, five distinct and incredibly detailed rooms featuring unique sounds including house, trance, hip hop, and 80s dance.
- G.G. Knickerbockers, New York, late 1970s--had Go-Go dancers on trapezes with a net under them. Frequented mostly by transsexuals.
- Happy Land Social Club - site of a March 25, 1990, fire that killed 87 in The Bronx, New York

- Jackie 60, New York, 1990 - 2000, Pioneered New York's Meat Market, served gay, fetish-dressed, straight, transvestite and poets for a decade.
- Jillian's--a chain of night clubs in many cities.
- Lakeview Broadcasting Company, Chicago, 2005-present, upstart by Stephen Westman and Paul Blair (D.J. Whiteshadow).
- Lion's Den (nightclub), New York City; Live music since 1990.
- Love (formerly known as "Dream"), Washington, D.C.; known for its enormous warehouse size and frequent hosting of Howard University's homecoming events.
- Lunatarium, Brooklyn, 2001–2004. 18,000 ft² (1,700 m²) warehouse club hosting a variety of events—home to New York's underground art party scene.
- Nation, 1015 Half St. S.E., Washington, D.C. Closed down in July of 2006, Nation, (formerly The Capitol Ballroom), hosted the popular Friday night party Buzz, operated by Buzzlife Productions.

- The EndUp, San Francisco--since 1973. Famous as the location of the Sunday Afternoon Wet Jockstrap Dance Contest from about 1974 to about 1992.
- Red, Washington, D.C. 1996-2005. The foundation of the DC/MD/VA underground house scene for nearly a decade. Red was known for its high quality music, booming soundsystem, thick vibes and great people.
- Rodney Bingenheimer's English Disco, West Hollywood, early 1970s. Where the glam rock stars and their groupies and admirers came to party when they were in Los Angeles.
- Roxy NYC, New York, former roller skating rink. 1980s–current. Featured in the film Beat Street.
- Rum Bay, Colorado Springs, Colorado. 7 Night clubs in one building. Downstairs has Hip Hop, Rock and several other bars. Upstairs has 80's Blus and kareoke. Also visit the Vue across the street for Hip Hop.

- Ageha, Tokyo, Japan is a large club with several dance floors, a terrace with a small pool, an outdoor dance tent, on the water front in Shin Kiba, eastern Tokyo. The club is used for live concerts, as well as a nightclub. Madonna, in December, 2005 had her Japan media showcase at Ageha. Ageha recently hosted Deep Dish for an 8-hour set.
