Many papers in circulation, categorized as state-owned below, are owned by the government through Lakehouse Press[citation needed]. Private news papers are operated by various companines, of which The Standard Newspapers Pvt. Ltd, Upali Newspapers and Wijeya Newspapers are three of the largest[citation needed].

  • Silumina (සිළුමිණ) - state-owned, weekly - highest circulation in Sri Lanka.
  • Lankadeepa (ලංකාදීප) - Wijeya-owned, daily

  • Lakbima (ලක්බිම) - privately owned, daily
  • Mawbima (මව්බිම) - The Standard Newspapers Pvt. Ltd, weekly
  • Irudina (ඉරුදින) - privately owned, weekly
  • lanka (ඉරුදින) - Lanka Multi Publisher Pvt Ltd.
