Minor official characters within the series' storyline
[edit] Assassin
- SC II - A generic assassin unlockable only in North American and European console ports of Soul Calibur II, and even then, only selectable in modes other than Story. He does not have an in-game profile or ending, but he has a profile of his own in the "Soul Calibur 2 Official Complete Guide". It does not state anything more than that they ("Assassin" is actually a bunch of people) are assassins of unknown origin (though seeing the SCIII Assassin in the Shrine of Kunpaetku seems to point that they are agents of Fygul Cestemus) in search of Soul Edge's fragments. Although his fighting style is based on that of Hwang Seong-gyeong and Chai Xianghua, he has no biographical association with any character in the series. In battle, he uses the Chinese Blade "Assassin Blade". He is voiced by Kentaro Ito
- SC III - A unplayable opponent fought in Tales of Souls mode and one of the few surviving members from Astaroth's sect Fygul Cestemus. She uses the Kunai discipline. Can easily be created in Character Creation mode. "Assassin" is also one of the Create-a-Character jobs.
[edit] Berserker
- SC II - A generic berserker unlockable only in North American and European console ports of Soul Calibur II, and even then, only selectable in modes other than Story. He doesn't have an in-game profile or ending, but he plays a role in the story mode as a guard in the many labyrinths the player roams through, but he has a profile of his own in the "Soul Calibur 2 Official Complete Guide". It states that the Berserkers ("Berserker" is actually a bunch of people) are people corrupted by the Evil Seed. Only the strongest ones are still alive, and they had been spotted in Eastern Europe following a strange armored man with a scar on it and a monster through the forest. Although his fighting style is based on that of Nathaniel "Rock" Adams,he has no biographical association with any character in the series. In battle, he uses the giant double-edged axe "Great Ax".
- SC III - Berserker is an unplayable enemy character enshrouded with an evil aura. He is a knight with green armor, including a green helmet. His weapon isn't an axe this time, he uses the Lance Discipline. Though officially not unlockable, he can easily be made in Character Creation mode knight job. With a cheating device, the difference is he says no words, just screams, and when he wins, the announcer won't say "knight wins"instead he says "berserker wins".
[edit] Lizardman
- SC II - The Lizardman featured in the American and European releases of Soul Calibur II is not Aeon Calcos, but only one of the many Lizardmen created by Fygul Cestemus to do their bidding. They don't have in-game backstory or ending, they have a profile of their own in the "Soul Calibur 2 Official Complete Guide". The guide states that the Lizardmen are used in two main groups: the first one to collect fragments of Soul Edge and the second one as loyal slaves. There were some rumors claiming that the Lizardmen's leader, Aeon Calcos, was set free of the brainwash by the power that defeated Nightmare, so the sect Fygul Cestemus is using stronger spells on the remaining lizardmen to avoid such incidents. In battle the lizardman uses the sword and shield called "Gyulkus Weapon". They are cursed weapons given by the sect Fygul Cestemus to carry on battle. There are two types of their shields, one is based on Sophitia's Gladius, Fire Blade, and Synval designs, and the second is based on Cassandra's Spine Blade, Metesashi, and Dark Blade shields.
- SC III - Lizardmen are unplayable characters who use the joke weapon of Lizardman, "Boned Meat". They can be fought in packs of 20 in Talim's stage, Water Mill Valley.Unlockable with action replay but he is only 1 character instead of 20,gameshark maybe allows this.
[edit] Johan Dürer
(or Johann Due Ra)
Johan Dürer appeared originally as a guide/Navigator character on the Soul Calibur Official Guide published by Axela. Eventually he's given a profile on the old Soul Archive site, thought only in Japanese [1]. In it, He's recognized as an official character. Moreover, he's also hinted to exist in Berserker's profile as their leader and also appears in the introduction of Weapon Master Mode, alongside other "missing" characters from Soul Calibur II like Edge Master, Hwang or Rock. His weapon of choice is a long sword named Misery.
- SC - Johan Dürer was born in Constance, Holy Roman Empire, in September 18, 1542. Since young he took the path of the sword due to the harsh times, and eventually turned into a mercenary. He participated in every war he could, and when there wasn't one he worked as a bodyguard for the merchants, usual targets of local bandits. Because he took his enemies' weapons, he developed a form to wield any weapon with ease. He called this style "Riese Apostel" (Giant Apostle in German, translated as Largus Apostolus in Girardot's profile, which has the same style) in honor of the nickname he got in the battlefield, Riese.
Eventually the firearms started to replace swords in war and Johan, frustrated by continuous defeats, finally decided that he can't made a life from only onslaughts, so he joined an elite knight force from a fortificated city and settled there. He married a woman which gave him 2 sons and a daughter, and thanks to his past war records turned into the elite's leader.
The day of the Evil Seed phenomenon, the lord of the castle was possessed by its evil will. Turned into a bloodthirsty monster, he rampaged the castle unti he got captured. The high-ranking vassals of the castle, worried by the situation, sent various undercover groups, Johan leading one, to investigate the strange phenomena. During his travel, Johan met with the Azure Knight Nightmare. Nightmare killed the entire unit, including Johan's sons, but left him alive and scarred.
Johan returned, bearing a frightfull scar on his armor. He revealed the information about Soul Edge, its existence and the events surrounding an Spanish port town and Captain Cervantes. Eventually Johan convinced the vassals to allow him to create a hunt unit to retrieve the evil sword. Johan gathered young men and, after weeding the cowards and curious, started an ardous training.
Johan and his group travelled around the world, until the training was complete and they headed back to the castle. he men were no more knights, as they returned as Berserkers. Johan, finally taken by the evil energy from his wounds, lead his unit to assault the castle. Johan himself freed the captive beastly lord and execute the vassal, soon discovering the evil powers inside him asking for souls. Johan set the castle on flames and leaves with his lord and students into the eastern forests.

Nintendo's Hylian hero from the Legend of Zelda series appears as a guest character on the GameCube version of Soul Calibur II.

Biography
Hyrule's tranquility was shattered by the arrival of several disasters, which brought opaque, ominous clouds with them. Eventually, it was discovered that an unknown magician was to blame for all that had happened. Just as the people were about to lose all hope, the sun miraculously returned as Link, having been summoned by Princess Zelda to find the disasters' source, successfully defeated the magician. The people of Hyrule rejoiced in the belief that eternal peace would rule; but it eventually became clear that the magician responsible for the disasters was in fact controlled by an evil sword from another world, Soul Edge, and that the fragments of Soul Edge had been gathering in the other world. Knowing that the resurrection of the evil blade must be prevented at all costs, Link chose to travel to the other world and destroy Soul Edge himself. He gathered his trusted Master Sword and Ocarina of Time, and transported himself off on a secret journey.
Weapons
-- Master Sword & Hylian Shield
A magic sword and shield that have accompanied Link on many adventures and helped him repeatedly save the land of Hyrule. This journey is no less dire, and Link once again goes into battle equipped with these items, this time in another world. These are well-balanced arms for Link.
Trivia
- Link has a longer profile in Soul Archive. It only expand into Link's in-game bio with greater details.
- Link, alongside Spawn, was the first character in the Soul Series to use projectiles, in his case in the form of arrows, bombs, and a boomerang.
- Some of Links moves are borrowed from his games, like the Spin Attack.
- In the game, Link has access to a variety of weapons taken from several games in the Zelda series, including the Biggoron Sword, Cane of Byrna, Megaton Hammer, Mirror Shield from Ocarina of Time, the Magic Sword and Shield from the original The Legend of Zelda, and even the bug-catching net from A Link To The Past. Link can also use the "Armos Class" Weapons, an orange, cracked shield, and a thick sword.
- This game's Link borrows his appearance from "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time", but his profile makes it clear he's not the same one.
- Instead of having the standard 2 or 3 costumes like every other character, Link has 4 different costumes, though each one is only his standard costume (green) colored red, blue, and violet (exactly the same four garment colors he could use in the first Super Smash Bros. and The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures).
- Link's classic theme from Zelda was used in his profile viewer and Destined Battle theme. It was also played if Link was used in Eurydice Shrine Gallery.
- Link is the most popular guest character, based on sales numbers for each version of the game.
- In the game Link never talks, he only gives out battle cries. This apparently is due to Nintendo's strictness on Link's lack of dialogues, considering that Link's voice actor, Nobuyuki Hiyama, also voices both Siegfried and Nightmare in the same game.
- His stage is Ostrheinsburg Chapel and his alternate stage is Eurydice Shrine Gallery.
- Link's Destined Battle in Soul Calibur II is Raphael.

The indestructible villain from the Tekken series (also made by Namco) appears as a guest character on the PlayStation 2 version of Soul Calibur II.

Biography
After completing his mountain training with his pet bear, Kuma, Heihachi stopped by at a hot springs resort to recuperate. There he encountered an ancient metallic fragment. According to old picture scrolls, this shard was a piece of Soul Edge, a notorious sword from medieval Europe. Grabbing the fragment in excitement, he accidentally cut his fingertip; and after a moment of dizziness passed, Heihachi looked around at his surroundings. A feeling of uneasiness washed over him as he was no longer at the resort he had been at just a few moments ago. He was stunned, but nevertheless remained collected. After he wandered for a while, he concluded that he was no longer in twenty-first-century Japan. He had somehow traveled back in time to the later sixteenth century. Though he wanted to return to his own time, part of him was trembling with anticipation of what was about to transpire. He knew the history behind the fragment, which was ripe with battles between warriors fighting for its possession. Now, he was right in the midst of it all. He eventually decided that finding and obtaining Soul Edge was the perfect challenge to test his strength and proceeded to seek it out.
Weapons
-- Kiaiissen
For the sake of taking on opponents armed with blades, Heihachi created his gauntlets using a piece of Japanese armor. It is just big enough to knock aside enemy blades without interfering with freedom of movement. It is a well-balanced defensive tool.
Trivia
- Heihachi has a longer profile in Soul Archive. The only remarkable thing is that it said that a "wandering samurai" left the fragment after founding the springs hotel, and it turned into the treasure of the town.
- Heihachi's profile states that his weapon is "his body", though he uses Arm Guards to protect himself. Interesting enough, his Ultimate Weapon is called Tekken, and is his bare fists.
- Although not mentioned in his profile, Heihachi has more family: His father Jinpachi Mishima, his son Kazuya Mishima and his grandson Jin Kazama. Lee Chaolan is his foster son, though he dismissed him.
- His stage is Ostrheinsburg Chapel and his alternate stage is Kaminoi Castle - Sakura-Dai Gate.
- Heihachi's Destined Battle in Soul Calibur 2 is Raphael.

Todd McFarlane's demonic anti-heroic hellspawn from the popular eponymous comic book series appears as a guest character on the Xbox version of Soul Calibur II.

Biography
Upon his death, Lieutenant Al Simmons made a pact with the devil in order to return to the world of the living. The resurrection of the dark lord Malebolgia produced a result that was far different from anything Simmons had envisioned. His body, memories of the past, and even time were taken from him. His fate was to exist as a spawn of hell. He was then sent to the sixteenth century on a mission to retrieve the Soul Edge. Spawn had to obey his master, for it was his only chance of returning to his time period.
Weapons

Spawn's cape can take the form of any object he has in mind, and to fight in this era he choose the form of a double-edged axe. The cape itself is like an extension of his own limbs, and every weapons he uses is based on the original design of his cape. Since its like a part of himself, the weapon accommodates him perfectly.
Trivia
- Spawn has a longer profile in Soul Archive. The profile only explain in greater details the transformation and consequences of Spawn's rebirth and Malebolgia's interest in Soul Edge.
- In the game, Spawn's trademark cape is said to have assumed the form of an axe, most likely for the real-world reason of avoiding rendering complexities.
- Spawn was, with Link, the second character to Cervantes and Necrid in the Soul Series to have projectile attacks. He can also levitate.
- In the multiplataform game Spawn: Armageddon, Spawn uses the Agony Axe again.
- His stage is Ostrheinsburg Chapel and his alternate stage is Pirate's Alcove.

Characters related to the Main Characters from the games
[edit] Ares
Also known as "Palgaea", he's the Greek god of war, Ares is trying to take Soul Edge for his own purposes. He commanded the Grand Priest of the Fygul Cestemus sect, Kunpaetku, to create a golem to help find it. Although Kunpaetku created Astaroth in hopes of taking Soul Edge for himself, he didn't know that Ares, to assure Astaroth's loyalty, implanted Ker, the Agent of Death, inside him.
[edit] Bangoo
Rock's adopted son. He lost his parents in tribal warfare and was the only native to close on the "White Giant" during his first years in the New World. Eventually he took Bangoo as his son and raised him. Being kidnapped by the Fygul Cestemus sect to serve as bait to bring Rock and take his soul, he was rescued by Rock and settled in Europe. After 4 years he decided to go on a journey to prove his manhood, so he embarked back to his native land. In Rock's Soul Calibur ending, Bangoo appears as an adult carrying Rock's axe. This has led some fans to speculate that he may appear as a playable character in future Soul games. This has yet to occur, however.

Li Long's lover. The daughter of an innkeeper, she had lost her ability to speak following the death of her mother. Chie nursed Li Long back to health following his failed attack on the Japanese feudal lords and the two eventually fell in love. One day a battle broke out in the inn where Li Long was staying, leading to the apparent death of Chie. Li Long, believing Mitsurugi had killed her, then set out to find Soul Edge and exact revenge. However, unbeknownst to Li Long, Chie had survived and was pregnant with Li Long's child.
[edit] Frederick Schtauffen
Siegfried Schtauffen's father. Nicknamed the Gentle Knight, he was one of the heroes on the peasant revolts against the Holy Roman Empire. During the campaign he met Margaret and soon she gave him a son, which he named Siegfried. He taught him swordplay, but once he left to fight on a foreign crusade, his son fell on bad companies. After the defeat of his unit, he was returning exhausted when the Schwartzwind ambushed him and his group. With tragic irony, his own son beheaded him in the confusion.
In Siegfried's no input SCIII ending he believes Fredrick sent the lighting that destroyed the multiple Nightmares, this may mean Frederick has forgiven his son.
[edit] Gel-o-Fury
A strong ancient demon once sealed by Taki in the Bamboo Shrine on Ohmi Isle. During the Evil Seed raining, Gel-o-Fury gained enough strength to break free of his imprisonment and, using the water passages that exists under Japan, he reached the Honno-ji Temple. Taki followed his trail and sealed him again in the Buddha Shrine. Gel-o-Fury stayed there until Toki released and absorbed him. After losing to Taki, Gel-o-Fury left the old man's body and flee to parts unknown. He can be seen in the beginning movie of Soul Edge/ Soul blade.
[edit] Hephaestus
The Greek god of forge and smithery, Hephaestus feels that Soul Edge, a weapon made by man, is so evil that it could end staining his reputation as the "Blacksmith God", so he sends oracles to 24 people to go and destroy the evil blade. Among them the spartan knight Aeon Calcos and Sophitia Alexandra were chosen. Aeon Calcos never reached the sword, but Sophitia was able to shatter one of the blades.

Also known as "The Hero", he was able to subdue Soul Edge and, thanks to his strength of will, avoided being controlled by it. He used the sword to spread peace among the lands. Unfortunately, his jealous son took Soul Edge and was possessed. The King battled him and with a mighty blow defeated him, The strike was fatal. After his son's death, he decided to create a sword to counter the evil in Soul Edge. Using purified shards from his battle with his son, and with the assistance of various sages, he was able to create the Soul Calibur after many failed attempts and even sacrificing his own life.
[edit] Kong Xiuqiang
Estranged father of Xianglian and Xianghua and former resident of the Ling-Sheng Su temple. During his days as a monk, he fell in love with a woman named Xiangfei and fathered a daughter with her. When their relationship was discovered, the monks took Xiangfei's daughter and she was forced to leave the temple. Kong would later steal the Krita-Yuga to give to her as a promise that they would meet again. Kong was intended to be the successor of the Kali-Yuga, but was banished from the temple when it was discovered that he had stolen the Krita-Yuga. Since leaving the temple, Kong has joined the Korean coastal defense force with Hwang and trained Seong Mi-na in the Ling-Sheng Su martial arts.
[edit] Kunpaetku
High Priest of the Fygul Cestemus sect, he's the one who created Astaroth at the God of War's request. He, however, wanted Soul Edge to himself, so he can turn into a god. Unfortunately for him, Ares' agent of death, Ker, dwelled inside the monster and Kunpaetku lost control over him. Trying to use a curse to control him again, he only obtained Astaroth's rage and the destruction of his shrine, the Shrine of Kunpaetku. He survived only to find Maxi, who killed him shortly after.
[edit] Kyam
Maxi's sworn brother. Being raised since childhood alongside Maxi by his father, both turned into brothers and best friends. Kyam usually took the leadership of Maxi's crew during his absences. He accepted Kilik to travel with them since he chose his shíp, but Astaroth's ambush in the port town ended with his death at the hands of the giant. Maxi swore revenge upon his dead body.

Li Long's sister and Ming's Maid of Honor. She's a close friend of Xianghua. She asked Xianghua, before her depart to search Soul Edge, to check on Li Long's health, since he never returned after his mission in Japan.
[edit] Philip de Leon
Cervantes's father. Once a privateer working for the Spanish Kingdom, Philip was known because he never killed the crew of the boats he attacked. He always left them with provision and ways to return safely to land. That generosity cost him dearly, being ambushed by an English warship disguised as a merchant vessel. His death marked Cervantes de Leon, and made him decide in turning into a pirate.

Sophitia's husband and a blacksmith. It was Rothion who forged the Omega Sword and Elk Shield used by Sophitia from holy ore given to him by Hephaestus. He also forged another sword and shield for Sophitia to use when Cassandra stole the originals. Rothion and Sophitia were married after Sophitia returned from her second search for Soul Edge and have since had two children named Pyrrha and Patroklos.
[edit] Toki
Taki's master and former leader of the Fu-Ma Ninjas. He was the one who found and raised Taki. Although a benelovent man, he fell into the influence of evil and sought the mystical sword Mekki-Maru to grow in strength. Hachibei, formerly co-leader of the group, escaped with the blade and his daughter, Chie, into hiding. Still, Toki would not stop until Mekki-Maru was in his possession, so he sent various ninjas, Taki with them, to find him. Eventually he found out Taki lied to him about Hachibei's death in an attempt to cover him, and he sent his right-hand man Geki to retrieve Mekki-Maru from her. Geki isn't successful, but Toki kept sending ninjas against his former student. His last battle was against Taki in the Buddha Sanctum. He absorbed the powerful demon Gel-o-Fury and stood against Taki, who defeated him with the techniques he taught her. Upon his last words, Gel-o-Fury escaped his host and flew to an unknown direction.
[edit] Vercci
A prolific Italian merchant and Voldo's master, Vercci amassed fortunes dealing with the Spanish Armada, which he supplied with weapons. Thanks to the supplies he delivered (weapons mostly) he was known as the "Merchant of Death". He always was proud of saying he had everything he wanted. here was one thing Verci didn't have: Soul Edge. He decided he would find it and, once his opposing brothers were out of the way, he gave Voldo the work of leading the search. He contracted mercenaries and pirates to search land and seas, but to no avail. He even contractred Cervantes de Leon's aid, which he accepted since he was one of his clients when he turned pirate. Finally he decided to lead the search. During his travels along the world he gathered many treasures, but wasn't able to find the swords. Worse yet, he received notices about the breaking of the Italian Wars and that his house, along with his possessions there, were lost. With only the possessions he carried with him in his search, Vercci went into an unnamed island on the Mediterranean and commissioned the digging of a 50 meter deep shaft. This pit would serve as a safe for his possessions, as well as his tomb. Once it was completed, he ordered Voldo to slay the sailors that had aided Vercci in his search, so they could not reveal the pit's location. Vercci died before knowing of the Italian Wars' end, but he still communicates with Voldo, still ordering him to search that last treasure he never got: Soul Edge, though it is possible that this is just Soul Edge itself tricking Voldo into following its commands.
[edit] Xianglian
Kilik's sworn sister, and Xianghua's biological sister (though they never knew each other). She was the daughter of Kong Xiquiang and Chai Xiangfei, but because their love was forbidden, her mother was dismissed of the temple and she taken as an "orphan". After finding out her father stole the sacred Krita-Yuga, she thought she wasn't worth of the sacred sword, he monks reassured her that she had surpassed his family's stain and is more than worthy of wielding the sacred mirror, Dvapara-Yuga. Unfortunately, the night of the ceremony the Evil Seed rained down into the temple, turning the monks into berserk killers. Dvapara-Yuga protected her from the evil influence, but seeing Kilik's state she gave up her life, putting Dvapara-Yuga onto and saving Kilik. She turned berserk shortly after and Kilik himself killed her, impaling her through the heart with the Kali-Yuga.

These characters are unlockable in the PS1 version of Soul Blade. Their name is the same of some base characters but with an "!" in the end.
[edit] Siegfried!
- SB - A pre-version of Nightmare in Soul Blade. He has the same moves as Siegfried. He wears a dark purple armor and his weapon is Soul Edge, Siegfried's Ultimate Weapon in Soul Edge and Nightmare's 2P weapon design in Soul Calibur II. In Soul Calibur III this weapon was called "Soul Edge (Cocoon)".

- SB - An alternate costume for Sophitia; its her normal costume without the armor on. It appears in her ending clip after Hephaestus vanish her weapons. She uses the same weapon as Sophitia.
