List of intrastate Interstate Highways
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There are several intrastate Interstate Highways; that is, Interstates that are located entirely within one state. The concept seems contradictory at first; it is important to note that the word "Interstate" refers to the way the highways are funded, not to the route they travel.
Of course, Alaska's and Hawaii's interstate highways are fully within that state's boundaries. Puerto Rico is not a state; however, it also has internal highways funded by the Federal Government. H-1, H-2, and H-3 stand for Hawaii-1, 2, and 3 respectively. These freeways are part of the Interstate Highway System and are thus called interstate highways.
[edit] These interstates are not signed
- Interstate A-1
- Interstate A-2
- Interstate A-3
- Interstate A-4
- Interstate PRI-1
- Interstate PRI-2
- Interstate PRI-3
[edit] Notes
- This list only includes the primary Interstate highways (those with route numbers less than 100). Most (but not all) three digit Interstates are intrastate. Interstate H-201 is considered a three digit Interstate as well.
- Interstate 99 currently has no direct connection with any other interstate. Surface roads connect it with I-70/I-76 at its south end.
- Interstates 19 and 87 reach the Mexican and Canadian borders, respectively, but do not cross any state lines.
