[edit] Penguins in Comic Strips

  • Eric The Penguin - the cartoon penguin from Chris Masters' famous greeting cards.
  • Opus. First a minor character in Bloom County, then one of the main characters in Outland, and currently (2007) the principal and eponymous character of Opus. All three comic strips are by Berkeley Breathed.
  • Pokey the Penguin, a penguin living in the Arctic Circle, from the webcomic of the same name.
  • Sparky the Wonder Penguin. One of the main characters in the satirical comic strip This Modern World by Tom Tomorrow.
  • Les indégivrables, a French political cartoon with an all-penguin cast by Xavier Gorce, appearing in the online edition of Le Monde

[edit] Slightly Fictionalised Penguins in Books

  • Peris der penguin, the baby penguin from Evert im zoo and Evert besucht Auswitch.
  • Tango, and her former adoptive male guardians Roy and Silo, in the book And Tango Makes Three. They are slightly anthropomorphised, slightly fictionalised Chinstrap penguins.

[edit] Other famous penguins

  • The Penguin - One of Batman's most famous adversaries. (Not really a penguin, but a human who has physical penguin-like features. His real name is Oswald Cobblepot.) He dies in the movie Batman Returns. However, in the canon continuity of the comic books, he has reformed (sort of), and he and Batman have progressed from being mortal enemies to a tolerable modus vivendi.
