This is an incomplete list of major companies headquartered in Houston, Texas and the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. Houston is known for its oil and gas industry and it should also be noted that only New York City has more Fortune 500 companies.

Loch Energy is based in Humble, and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation is based in nearby The Woodlands, Texas.
