List of cities in South Africa

There are officially nine cities in South Africa (members of the South African cities network). These cities are not necessarily capital cities of the nine provinces. These are:

• Cape Town, Western Cape
• Nelson Mandela Metropole (Port Elizabeth), Eastern Cape
• Buffalo City (East London), Eastern Cape
• Ethekwini (Durban), KwaZulu-Natal
• Msunduzi District Municipality (Pietermaritzburg), KwaZulu-Natal
• Mangaung (Bloemfontein), Free State
• Johannesburg, Gauteng
• Tshwane (Pretoria), Gauteng and North West provinces
• Ekurhuleni (East Rand), Gauteng
