[edit] Zim

Zim
Zim
Main article: Zim (Invader Zim)

Zim is a short, green, almost stereotypical looking alien from the planet Irk. He is trying to conquer the Earth, and is generally unsuccessful. He uses ridiculously excessive and elaborate plans to conquer the planet when he obviously has the resources to do so much more efficiently.

After the series's cancellation, Jhonen Vasquez did a four-page comic for the Nickolodeon Magazine. In it, Zim conquers the Earth in less than half a minute when Dib isn't looking. Dib and Zim then go to outerspace to ride space bunnies. This blunt and exaggerated plot may have been done out of spite for the cancellation.

Zim isn't technically an Invader, and his superiors actively despise him. The episode The Frycook What Came From All That Space confirms that Zim was officially demoted from the rank of Invader to Food Services after his disastrous performance during Operation Impending Doom One. His current assignment to invade Earth is actually just the Tallest's latest and most desperate attempt to get Zim as far away from them as possible.

Zim is voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz.

[edit] GIR

GIR
GIR
Main article: GIR (Invader Zim)

GIR is a dysfunctional version of the Irken SIR (Standard Information Retrieval) units given to Irken invaders. In order to avoid wasting a functional SIR unit on Zim, GIR was constructed from junk parts found in a trash can. He is completely insane. Zim blames him for most of the problems on the mission, regardless of whether or not it is his fault.

GIR takes a lackadaisical approach to life, mostly concerned with his squeaky toys, food, the Scary Monkey Show, pigs, and television. He doesn't know what the 'G' in 'GIR' stands for.

GIR is voiced by Rosearik Rikki Simons

[edit] Dib

Main article: Dib (Invader Zim)
Dib
Dib

A member of Zim's class at the school they both attend. Dib has been obsessed with the paranormal and supernatural since an early age. An avid paranormalist, Dib is often criticised by his classmates for being "crazy" or mentally unstable due to his outlandish theories. He apparently is the only human to recognize or care that Zim is an alien, other than Gaz, who thinks he is too dumb to take over the earth. Dib has devoted himself to stopping Zim's plans of conquest.

Almost every being he comes into contact with remarks that Dib has an abnormally large head, even though his head looks no more disproportionate than any one else's.

Dib is voiced by Andy Berman.

[edit] Gaz

Gaz
Gaz
Main article: Gaz

Gaz is Dib's younger, creepy, antisocial sister, who is often described as "Dib's scary sister." She has a penchant for video games and a fixation with pizza. She is hardly ever seen without her Gameslave videogame. She love Bloaty's Pizza Hog and drawing piggies. She knows and admits that Zim is an alien, but doesn't care because she is aware of his overwhelming ineptitude and incompetence when it comes to World Domination.

Gaz is voiced by Melissa Fahn.

[edit] Secondary Characters

[edit] Human

[edit] Countess Von Verminstrasser

An extreminator specializing in lice; in the episode Lice, Countess Von Verminstrasser was called to quarintine the skool after an invasion of lice. Though seemingly crazy, it turned out Countess Von Verminstrasser theory that there was a "Louse Queen" was correct, as one was found underneath the skool. Using the lice-killing oils secreted through Zim's skin, Countess Von Verminstrasser managed to kill the Louse Queen and her spawn, heavily damaging Zim's body in the process. Countess Von Verminstrasser was voiced by Mindy Sterling.

[edit] Professor Membrane

Main article: Professor Membrane
Professor Membrane in the episode "The Most Horrible X-mas Ever"
Professor Membrane in the episode "The Most Horrible X-mas Ever"

He is the world's smartest man, host of the popular television show "Probing the Membrane of Science", inventor of SuperToast, and father of Dib and Gaz. Membrane's scientific abilities are offset by incredibly poor parenting: his primary method of managing his children is by way of a floating digital projection screen - and his messages to them are often not only prerecorded but woefully out of date (Future Dib, Dibship Rising). Also, he rarely, if ever, calls Dib and Gaz by their names (instead calling them 'son' and 'daughter'). Proffesor Membrane's first name is Membrane. His last name is uknown. Professor Membrane is voiced by Rodger Bumpass.

[edit] Nick

A human child held captive by Zim for experimentation, Nick's most notable feature is the large, drill-like probe jutting from his forehead which makes him insanely happy. Nick appears prominently in "Zim Eats Waffles" and "GIR Goes Crazy and Stuff" and has a small appearance in "The Girl Who Cried Gnome". Nick was voiced by Rosearik Rikki Simons.

[edit] Moofy

Moofy
Moofy

A manipulative Girly Ninja Ranger. She attempts to sell cookies to Zim in the episode "The Girl Who Cried Gnome". He freaks out, and sends up his gopher cyborg, which only burrows some holes in the yard and then dances in front Moofy before being sucked into a giant purple vortex in the sky. Moofy gets her foot stuck in one of the holes. Soon, the media is calling it a "tragedy", and a crowd gathers. Even the President Man comes out. However, Moofy can get out of the hole; she's merely dramatizing her problem to get free press (which Dib notices) and she screams whenever someone tries to get near her. Dib tries to warn President Man, who okayed Zim's use of a giant nuclear-powered shaking machine to get Moofy out, which would destroy Earth's surface. President Man could care less, until Dib bribes him with cookies. They are now going to tunnel Moofy out, which will also reveal Zim's base. So Zim goes outside and pulls Moofy out. At the same time Dib gets his foot stuck in one of the gopher holes for real but everyone leaves.

[edit] The Swollen Eyeball Network

A group of conspiracy theorists who have an astonishingly high standard of proof, at least as far as grade-school alien invaders are concerned. Dib is, of course, a member - albeit a junior one, with the alias "Agent Mothman". Dib spends a fair amount of his time trying to convince the membership of the threat posed by Zim. Dib, for the majority of the series, communicates with them via video-conferencing. On screen, they appear as solid-black figures with somewhat-thick white outlines and solid-red oval discs for eyes (though due to a continuity error they are blue eyed and have pupils in Battle-Dib), disguised behind nicknames like Agent Nessie, Agent Darkbootie, Agent Disembodied-Head, and Agent Tunaghost.

However, Dib makes direct contact with Agent Darkbooty, who turns out to be (or possibly disguised as) a crafty old janitor for NASA, renamed NASAPLACE in the series, in the episode Battle of the Planets. Darkbooty assists Dib, meaning that most likely he saw Zim on the Mars cameras.

In Battle-Dib Dib struggles to get his father to sign a permission slip so that he can make a presentation on Zim to the entirety of the Swollen Eyeball Network's membership. However, he loses the briefcase along the way, and has to reschedule.

Probably because of this, the Eyeball Network stops taking Dib too seriously, and by the time the episode Zim Eats Waffles rolls around, they show dislike for him. Agent Darkbooty even says, "You make me sick." Although, in a later episode Gaz, Taster of Pork, Agent Tunaghost helps Dib to solve his problem with the "Sense of the Shadowhog" spell. The swollen eyeball net figures out a way to transport Dib to the Shadowhog's realm.

Agent Darkbooty was voiced by Star Trek regular John DeLancie. Agent Nessie was voiced by Bill Chott. Agent Disembodied Head was voiced by Danny Cooksey. Agent Tunaghost was voiced by Jocelyn Blue.

[edit] Sergeant Slab Rankle

A security guard who appears only once, in the episode FBI Warning of Doom. He is voiced by Robert Cait.

Rankle is a meglomaniacal security guard in one of the malls in Zim's city. He takes his job far, far too seriously for words, often reassuring the camera pictures of the stores that he will protect them. A weird person who even frightened Zim a little.

He first encountered Zim when he was attempting to break into the mall and return a video GIR had been watching for a month. When Zim resisted his command to surrender, Rankle quickly imprisoned him, where he keeps other people. Zim quickly escaped, and was faced down by evil zombie soldiers who pretty much collapsed in a heap, unable to fight.

Amazed by Zim's escapes, Rankle then appeared in person, asking Zim to join him; together, they could conquer everything. But Zim, creeped out by his appearance, declined, instead going home.

In the last we ever saw of Rankle, he takes Zim's rejection well, and rejuvenatedly walks back to his hovel amid the pile of zombies.

[edit] Mr Dwicky

Mr Dwicky
Mr Dwicky

Shown in the episode Vindicated. Mr Dwicky is the school counselor after the old counselor was either put, jammed or thrown in a vent system. Mr Dwicky had believed in aliens until he got his leg jammed in an escalator and they didnt come to save him. He told Dib that he believes him about all the alien stuff.

Later, Dib shows the counselor an alien schematic for a transmitter he found from Zim's computer. Dwicky suggests that they could pretend to be aliens to expose Zim. The two proceed to contact Zim. Zim is told by the two that they are aliens who have crash-landed in a forest nearby on Earth, and will trade weapons for repair tools. However, Zim has to go to the forest undisguised.

That night, Dib and Mr. Dwicky wait with a video camera, and the counselor asks what Dib's problem really is. Dib realizes that Dwicky doesn't believe him at all. Afterward, Zim quickly arrives, and Dwicky is shocked by Zim, as Zim is shocked that Dib is there. Dib attempts to explain, but then two actual aliens arrive, conveniently with weapons. Dwicky decides to go with them, but forgets that he has the camera on the ship with him.

[edit] Bill

A moronic paranormal investigator who claims that ghosts, Bigfoot, and dinosaurs are all just myths, while cereal box creatures such as Count Cocofang and Frankenchokey are real. Even when proof of the existence of the paranormal is right in front of him, he tends to dismiss it or ignore it entirely. He also believes that Chickenfoot (actually a guy stuck in a chicken suit) is some sort of space chicken. Seen in Career Day and The Sad, Sad Tale of Chickenfoot.

Bill is voiced by Adam Paul

[edit] Bloaty

Bloaty in his Pig Costume
Bloaty in his Pig Costume

Bloaty is actually a morbidly obese man in a ginormas Pig costume thats the spokes man mascot for the the Restraunt Bloatys Pizza Hog. He complains about how he eats to much pizza in "Bloaty's Pizza Hog" and in "Gaz, Taster of Pork" on a commercial he states he hates his life and is also shown crying next to Bloatys in the commercial.

[edit] Iggins

Iggins
Iggins

Iggins, according to himself, is the master of all reality and gaming. He seems to be obsessed with games, and will do almost anything to get one (as seen in Game Slave 2). He appears to be clever(if not intelligent) as he tricked a store clerk into giving him the Gameslave 2 He was originally supposed to die in that episode (in the elevator crash) but Nickelodeon would not allow it, instead, he came out with super powers. He also had a minor appearance in the episode Walk for Your Lives, shown getting arrested for standing around and doing nothing.

Iggins was voiced by Paul Greenberg

[edit] The Maniac

Only seen on "Career Day", a skool student's future career, odd as it may seem, is to be a serial killer, he is seen in the hallway, with all the other employed adults and children, showing the child, known as Lizard Boy, how to choke someone.

[edit] Notable Schoolchildren

  • Brian - Sat right next to Zim and was probably had the most lines out of the schoolchildren, he also appears in the Season 1 Intro, jumping out of the way before a dodge ball hits Zim. Brian Was sent to the "Underground Classes" in Tak, the Hideous New Girl which depicted that he died, although Brian appears in a crowd in The Most Horrible X-mas Ever, which possibly means the Underground Classes do exist. Brian was replaced by 'Poonchy, Drinker of Hate'. He was voiced by Jhonen Vasquez
  • Chunk - One of the bullies that torments Dib. He has orange hair and drools. He likes dogs. He was voiced by Adam Paul.
  • Torque Smackey - A schoolchild obsessed with lifting weights and sports, Torque wears a jersey with his name on it. Torque Smackey was voiced by Jason Marsden.
  • Gretchen - Has purple hair and braces. From Tak, the Hideous New Girl it is seen that she fancies Dib, though this fact has not been emphasized in all the episodes thereafter. In the episode Lice, she was dragged everywhere by the louse queen enthusiast. She was voiced by Antoinette Spolar
  • Keef - Main character in Bestest Friend and the unfinished The Return of Keef. Keef was meant to die in both of these episodes (the original script of The Return of Keef allows him to live though), but Nickelodeon wouldn't allow it. He does seem to reappear in the Halloween Spectacular of Spooky Doom episode, but only for a brief moment while Dib is looking out from his cell in the parallel dimension. He is seen sitting in a cell with several monsters. Keef was voiced by Danny Cooksey
Melvin

Poonchy, Drinker of Hate
Poonchy, Drinker of Hate
  • Poonchy, Drinker of Hate - Has orange hair and often has his hands in the air. He was to have a major role in the unfinished episode Invader Poonchy. He was voiced by Paul Greenberg
  • Rob - Has 2 orange tufts of hair which look like horns. He was transferred to the underground classrooms in Tak, the Hideous New Girl He was voiced by Adam Paul.
Willy
Willy
  • Willy - Deemed "leadership material" by the school, but considered a bald moron by everyone else. Was the last person to use the toilet Dib was ordered by Ms. Bitters to roll around in in the episode Bolognius Maximus. He was voiced by Jim Wise
Zita
Zita
  • Zita - Was blinded by potatoes in Gaz, Taster of Pork. She also used one of the three "crazy cards" given to the class to commit Dib to an insane asylum in Halloween Spectacular of Spooky Doom. In one episode, Zita was given an A from Ms. Bitters for calling Dib crazy. She appears to be Ms. Bitters' favorite student. She was voiced by Mo Collins
  • The Letter "M" - Apparently the only Black student in the class, The Letter "M" seems to be the most logical of the children. He seems to notice that Zim is weirder then most of the other kids in the Halloween Spectacular of Spooky Doom, but still doesn't seem to think he's an alien like Dib. He is referred to as The Letter "M" in both the credits and by the other students themselves (or, at least, by Zita), and it is never shown if this is his real name, or is simply a given nickname. He was voiced by Phil Lamarr.
  • Old Kid - Oldest kid in class, looks like a short adult. This character is actually revealed to be based upon an actual person in the commentary. He was voiced by Jhonen Vasquez
  • Pig Boy - A half-pig, half-child student who jumps out a window and flies away when Dib offends him by trying to explain that Zim is insulting the human race by calling them "pig smellies". He was voiced by Rosearik Rikki Simons

[edit] Irkens

[edit] The Almighty Tallest

Main article: Almighty Tallest
The Tallest, Red and Purple, as they appeared in "Backseat Drivers from Beyond the Stars".
The Tallest, Red and Purple, as they appeared in "Backseat Drivers from Beyond the Stars".

The Irken Empire has a hierarchal class structure, where shorter individuals are both figuratively and literally looked down upon. The tallest Irken alive takes command of the Empire as "the Tallest", but since Red and Purple, the two current Tallest, are the exact same height, they share equal (and nigh-supreme) power.

While the Tallest function mainly as figureheads, doing little to organize the society (preferring to lounge around and eat snacks), they do hold absolute power over the populace. They travel around to observe and supervise Operation Impending Doom II in the Massive, the largest and most powerful ship in the Irken Armada. They appear to mostly use their unlimited powers of state to amuse themselves- sending loyal Irken soldiers to painful deaths ("Battle of the Planets"), forcing others weaker than themselves to obey their random whims ("Hobo 13") and starving their own command crew ("Backseat Drivers"). Red is often considered to actually have a slight focus on ruling the Irken race, as is usually seen as being more intelligent than Purple. This is seen in the episode Backseat Drivers, where, while Purple floats around screaming and eating doughnuts, Red finds out that Zim is controlling the ship via the power core, and switches it with the Resisty's core, thus saving the Massive from hitting Earth. They love to cause other Irkens pain ("Walk for your Life") and, Purple expecially, puppets (also "Walk for Your Life).

The voice of Almighty Tallest Purple was done by Kevin McDonald, best known for his participation in the Canadian sketch comedy group The Kids in the Hall and as Pastor Dave in "That 70's show". Almighty Tallest Red was voiced by Wally Wingert.

[edit] Sizz-Lorr

Sizz-lorr revealing his identity to Zim.
Sizz-lorr revealing his identity to Zim.

Zim's foreman during his exile at Foodcourtia for ruining Operation Impending Doom 1. When Zim escaped through the back door, Sizz-Lorr was trapped without help (with the possible exception of Garshlooke) during the first Great Foodening in which people ate so much the gravity was too strong to escape for 20 years (which a time warp managed to make the time period no more than a few years for the rest of the universe, according to Sizz-Lorr. Comic laziness, according to Jhonen.). When he captured Zim on Earth and returned to Foodcourtia, Zim managed to escape before the second Foodening trapping Sizz-Lorr for another 20 years. Jhonen does point out the invader symbols on his arms was a mistake, seeing as he never was an invader. His name is a reference to the popular Sizzler chain of restaurants. Sizz-Lor was voiced by Jim Wise

[edit] Tak

Tak in her real form (left) and her human disguise (right).
Main article: Tak (Invader Zim)

Tak, another Irken with a serious grudge against Zim appears on Earth in "Tak: The Hideous New Girl". Originally assigned to janitorial duty, she comes to Earth to steal Zim's mission and impress the Tallest, hoping to achieve Invader status in this way. She also owns a SIR unit named Mimi, who wears a cat disguise. She was set to come back as a big villian in "Top of the Line". Tak is voiced by Olivia D'Abo.

[edit] Invader Skoodge

Invader Skoodge in the episode "The Nightmare Begins"
Invader Skoodge in the episode "The Nightmare Begins"

Invader Skoodge was shown in the first episode as being the shortest, fattest, ugliest Invader (although it is shown a few episodes that Zim is even shorter). Since the Irken culture idolizes height, little Skoodge was at an instant disadvantage. In scorn of his stature, the Tallest sent him to invade Planet Blorch, home of the Slaughtering Rat People, where he was expected to die horribly.

However, Skoodge is a highly skilled Invader – the first Invader of Impending Doom Two to successfully subjugate his assigned planet. The Nickelodeon e-card for Skoodge says he survived on Blorch by eating really nasty things.

On the arrival of the Irken Armada to Blorch to proclaim their first successful Invasion, The Tallest refused to make short Skoodge their poster-boy for galactic conquest. Instead, declaring a 'new tradition' on the spot, they instead fired him out of a cannon into space. A taller Irken civilian, randomly selected by Tallest Purple, was dubbed Invader Skoodge, and paraded in front of the cameras. Also when Zim was sent to a planet for military training, (or so he thought) Skoodge was there as well and used by Zim to get through the trials.

Skoodge and Zim were smeeted (born) in the same generation of Irkens, (The Trial) and their first (and most subsequent) adventures together usually lead to Skoodge suffering horrible pain. Zim believes Skoodge to be very gullible. Skoodge was originally slated to have a larger role in season two: he was to be hiding from The Tallest in Zim's basement and was later to be in many future episodes such as "Day of da Spookies." For some odd reason, he can live without a PAK to support his life and seems to be able to think without a brain.

Invader Skoodge was voiced by Ted Raimi.

[edit] Invader Tenn

Invader Tenn
Invader Tenn

Invader Tenn was sent to invade Planet Meekrob in Megadoomer however her mission was sabotaged by Malfunctioning SIR units. The Tallests decide to give the Megadoomer to Invader Tenn for her use in conquering the planet Meekrob. They then notice a batch of malfunctioning SIR units going crazy. They decide to send them to Zim, hoping they will kill him. Tenn made many calls for help however no attempts were made to save her. She was also supposed to appear in the unfinished 2 part season finale. Invader Tenn was voiced by Kerri Kenney.

[edit] Table Headed Service Drone Bob

Bob is not an Invader but is a servant to the Tallests. According to him he only makes 5 monies (Name of Irken currency) (5 dollars) every two years. He was forced to bet on Zim in Hobo 13. Zim was promised a bag of tanks however in the end after Zim won by cheating the tallests give Zim his own spaceship (with locked cordinants) with Bob strapped at the back of Zims seat for refusing to serve the tallests. In the end both Zim and Bob go flying into the sun. Bob speaks with a southern drawl.

[edit] Vortian

Lard Nar, the Vortian captain of the Resisty
Lard Nar, the Vortian captain of the Resisty

The Vortians are a highly intelligent race of alien scientists existing in the Invader Zim universe. They are gray-hued and have hocks on their legs (resembling the hind legs of horses, goats, dogs, etc.), which lack "feet". They also have curled "horns" (can be seen moving in some instances as if they were flesh-like) on the top of their heads. They closely resemble a species of aliens in Jhonen Vasquez's other works. The Vortians were once allies of the Irken Empire, until their enslavement, when they were forced into service after being conquered by Invader Larb. The Vortians' most famous inventions include the Santa Suit substance, Minimoose, the Massive, the Universe's Most Comfortable Couch and the MegaDoomer Combat Stealth Mech. Although the vehicles and weaponry that the Vortian design for the Irken Empire are undoubtedly powerful, they are also subtly and possibly purposely flawed. Take, for example, the Vortian-designed MegaDoomer stealth system which, while making the machine invisible, leaves the pilot for all to see, (Zim:Oh, That is STUPID!) an obvious drawback that makes it useless (although it is notable that the MegaDoomer probably does not need the cloaking device).

[edit] Lard Nar

Leader of the resistance against the Irken empire, he and Dib are the only viable opposition to the Irken empire. Appearing only in the season two premier, Backseat Drivers from Beyond the Stars, he and The Resisty were scheduled to appear in the unnamed season two finale. His primary concern is to keep The Resisty alive and fed before attempting a coup on the Irken Empire. He was the captain of the last Vortian ship (the others destroyed by Irkens), until it entered "Shrinky Self-Destruct" mode, ejecting all crew members and detonating a significantly smaller ship.

In the episode, after over-hearing the Tallests exclaim their weapons were deactivated, providing an opportunity to destroy the Massive, Lard Nar commands "Get those snacks!" even though they could theoretically destroy the entire ship. This seems unlikely however, since the Massive flies through several asteroids and even the outer layer of a star, and the Resisty laser is only powerful enough to shake the Massive and write "Resisty Rocks" on its hull (though it may have been set at a low setting to taunt the Irkens since they are so unorganized).

Lard Nar is voiced By Fred Tatasciore.

[edit] Prisoner 777

A prisoner of the Irken empire held on his home planet after it had been converted into a military prison by the Irken empire. The prisoners are still employed (against their will) to design weaponry, ships and various other devices for the Irkens. Zim uses Prisoner 777 as a means for gaining the materials he cannot gain through usual means, such as the schematics for the Massive, the Vortian weaponry to build Minimoose and presumably the Vortian liquid substance used for the Santa suit. Prisoner 777 has a pinkish coloured skin.

The number "777" is also the number of Johnny's run-down house in Jhonen Vasquez's comic series, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.

Prisoner 777 is voiced by Wally Wingert.

[edit] Other

[edit] "Dibship"

Dibship.
Dibship.

Originally Tak's invasion ship, after Dib erased Tak's personality from it, he downloaded his own personality into it. Unfortunately, this download worked too well and the ship actually believed it was Dib and that the real Dib was an imposter. After transforming itself into a robotic version of Dib, the ship tried to live Dib's life, only to be taken control of by Zim.

After being used to capture Dib by Zim, the ship managed to reclaim control of itself and, after realizing how horrible Dib's life was, started the painfully slow process of wiping it's own mind. Dibship was voiced by Andy Berman.

Mortos Der Soulstealer
Mortos Der Soulstealer

[edit] Mortos Der Soulstealer

A demon-like being, Mortos Der Soulstealer appears in every one thousand years on Earth when the moon alines with "jakunga". In the episode "Mortos Der Soulstealer", Dib attempts to utilize Mortos to steal Zim's soul, unfortunately, Mortos is extremely lazy and a mooch, refusing to do anything until his "power levels" are up.

Eventually, Mortos returns to "the place beneath the underworld" after mistakingly granting the wish of a nearby bystander for ice cream instead of Dib's wish to steal Zim's soul. Mortos was voiced by Wally Wingert.

[edit] Ms. Bitters

Ms. Bitters in the episode "Career Day."
Ms. Bitters in the episode "Career Day."
Main article: Ms. Bitters

Teacher of Dib and Zim's class. Devoid of any compassionate emotion, she is a tall, slender aged woman of unknown origin. Directly pulled from Vasquez's earlier comic book series Squee! (where she was Todd's teacher), she apparently possesses eerie powers, including the ability to materialize out of shadows, float through the air, and adopt snake-like features. Ms. Bitters is not human[citation needed], but her actual identity and form is unknown, but she is not an Irken. Ms. Bitters is voiced by Lucille Bliss.

[edit] Sergeant Hobo 678

The being in charge of the Hobo 13 military training facility. In "Hobo 13" Zim and Skoodge are both sent by The Tallest on what the Tallest are hoping is another ensured death mission. However Zim (Whom the Sergeant despises due to his complete lack of leadership skills and willingness to recklessly sacrifice his teammates) manages to complete the trials and defeat Sergeant Hobo 678 at the expense of all his teammates. Sergeant Hobo 678 is supposedly eaten by and monster and appears to take Invader Skoodge with him (Hobo 13).

Sergeant Hobo 678 is voiced by R. Lee Ermey

Gir watching the Scary Monkey Show
Gir watching the Scary Monkey Show

[edit] Scary Monkey (Sometimes called Angry Monkey)

A minor character who is shown throughout the series, mostly as the focus of the "Scary Monkey Show" (which GIR adores, and is the most seen program in the show), but shown in person during a few episodes such as "FBI Warning of Doom", where he is in Sgt. Slab Rankle's jail for unknown reasons.

Nothing else is known about the Scary Monkey, except that Zim seems to have something against "that horrible monkey". But Gir sure doesn't. He'll watch it whenever he can.

[edit] Shadowhog

A pig-like entity inhabiting an alternate dimension; the Shadowhog was summoned by Dib in "Gaz, Taster of Pork" to grant Gaz "superpowers"; Dib had planned on testing the spell on Gaz to see if it worked before using it on himself.

The Shadowhog
The Shadowhog

Later in the episode, Dib and Gaz travel to the Shadowhog's realm in order to reverse the spell on Gaz, which had made it so all she could taste was pork. The Shadowhog agreed to reverse the spell if Gaz, on her own, could pass the Shadowhog's test; the test turned out to be two questions ("How tall am I?" and "Whats the code for infinite lives in Super Kicky Fighter?") that the Shadowhog didn't even seem to know the answer too.

After Gaz solved the questions, the Shadowhog removed the spell and "hung-out" with Gaz, playing video games, eating ice cream, dancing to the ballet and playing cards with her. Eventually Dib, who believed Gaz had failed the Shadowhog's test, appears and begs the Shadowhog to punish him for "cursing" his sister; the Shadowhog proceeded to make Dib clean his filthy toilet using several toilet brushes attached to his head at Gaz's suggestion. Shadowhog was voiced by Jeffery Jones.

[edit] Roboparents

The Robo-Parents
The Robo-Parents

Two robots created by Zim to act as parents for his human guise, due to their extreme mental instability though, the Roboparents are rarely used. In "Parent Teacher Night", Zim has the Roboparents attend a meeting with Ms. Bitters with disastrous results; in "Backseat Drivers from Beyond the Stars" the Roboparents go completely hay-wire and cause mass-scale havoc for Zim. The Roboparents also made several other small appearances such as in "Zim Eats Waffles", "Bloaty's Pizza Hog" and "The Girl Who Cried Gnome". It was planned to have an episode where the Roboparents go crazy (Roboparents gone Wild). The voices of the Roboparents were provided by Michael McDonald and Mo Collins, two comedians who were regulars on the sketch show, MADtv.

[edit] The two Moronic Aliens

The two Moronic Aliens
The two Moronic Aliens

Two moronic Aliens one with Green eyes and one with Blue from the episode Abducted that look like the same aliens from Jhonen Vasquez's comic book, Squee! and were probably inspired by them. GIR opens the door and finds two extremely odd looking characters on the front porch. They appear to be two aliens badly disguised as humans (their costumes are merely smocks with nametags and plastic masks—worse even than Zim and GIR's disguises). "What? We're not aliens!" one exclaims. Back in the lab, Zim's transmission breaks up and he calls to GIR for an explanation. Zim goes up to the house and finds GIR in his doggie disguise sleeping at the feet of the two visitors. Zim demands an explanation, blaming the aliens for blocking his transmission. The two try to deny the fact that they're aliens but eventually give up, declaring it time for plan "2", which is throwing them in a sack. Zim calls for GIR to go into defensive mode but GIR's idea of defensive mode is jumping into the sack.

On board the alien vessel (which is disguised as a whale), the aliens explain their intent: they've spent hundreds of years searching the galaxy to find specimens to add to their collection and Zim is their choice for the human race. (The specimen containers are all empty though because they've all escaped.) Zim tries to explain to them that he, himself, is actually an alien too and not a human. The aliens don't believe him though, showing him footage of Dib accusing him of being an alien and Zim loudly exclaiming that he's "human, human, human—just look at my neck!" Zim continues to try to convince the aliens of their mistake by having GIR remove his disguise and reveal his "mighty robot form" This, however, still doesn't convince them. Despite the obviousness that GIR is a robot, they simply believe he's a very smart dog. They put GIR into one of their specimen containers and decide to start experimenting on Zim. They tell him they're going to fuse him to another human being as one opens a Can o' Human, which actually contains a gopher. The camera pans away to the shadows as they "fuse" the two together. As they congratulate themselves on a job well done, we see that they have merely taped the gopher to Zim's head. As the aliens argue over what to fuse him with next, Zim calmly walks over to an escape hatch and opens it. As he tries to fit through the too-small opening, the aliens notice and come charging over to him. Zim then gives up on escaping and rips the gopher from his head, sending it down the hatch while telling it to go for help.

Zim finds the escape ship and calls for GIR, who opens the case he's in and simply walks away right in front of the aliens. Zim and GIR prepare for launch. The escape pod plops out of the bottom of the "whale" and simply drops to the ground in front of Zim's house. The hatch opens and Zim and GIR come out and head for their house, with GIR slurping on a soda. The aliens fret for a moment over the loss of their captive but press on with their mission, setting course for the next Earth specimen: the Earth weasel. We then see Dib and Gaz outside of their house as the ship, now disguised as a giant baby, floats overhead. A beam of light focuses on Dib and he's transported aboard, obviosly being mistaken for an Earth weasel.

[edit] The Spooky Chihuahua

The Spooky Chihuahua
The Spooky Chihuahua

A small, chihuahua-like dog with a lobotomy scar and a strange right eyeball, appears in many episodes. Everybody, especially Zim, seems to greatly fear this dog and shriek in horror when it is spotted. Intended to be a running gag, Zim screamed "MADNESS!" at the sight of the dog in Walk of Doom, (Which led to the fans unofficially naming him "Madness") He also appeared in Walk for Your Lives, but wasn't referred to as "madness" but rather "Dog with meat. DOG WITH MEAT!" (referring to the steak it was carrying) (In some episodes he was also referred to as Meat Dog)

The Dog would seem to be an indirect reference to Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, as Johnny remarks that he encountered a Chihuahua and had a similar reaction to it as Zim.

The DVD commentary explains that the character was eventually abandoned because the staff found that this running gag was just not all that funny after all. . . and they just forgot to add it, eventually.

[edit] Minimoose

Minimoose as he appears in The Most Horrible X-mas Ever

A tiny, rounded moose figure, presented as Zim's other henchman, debuting in the series' final episode, The Most Horrible X-Mas Ever. Zim claims that Minimoose has "been there all along", despite having only one appearance. (Vasquez planned to show a montage of scenes from older episodes with Minimoose crudely pasted into them after the quote, but the scene was cut for time)

Minimoose was created by Zim from designs given by Vortian Prisoner #777. He has extremely dangerous weapons hidden in his "nubs"; which could be referring to either the small antlers on the sides of his head or the four bumps that serve as his legs. However, these weapons malfunction on their first attempted use, in the unfinished script "Nubs of Doom". Zim created Minimoose to replace Gir, out of sheer frustration with the insane little robot. When Minimoose failed, Zim gave him to Gir to play with.

His favourite activities include floating and squeaking adorably; the only form of communication of which he is capable. The actual personality of Minimoose is unknown, as he is incapable of communicating intelligibly, even though it seems his listeners understand him quite clearly. Implications by the context of surrounding dialogue to the squeaks imply that a single squeak from Minimoose can convey a rather large amount of verbiage.

Had the show continued, he would have played a major role, as shown in two unfinished scripts, 'Nubs of Doom' and 'Day of da Spookies'

Minimoose's squeaks and squeals were done by Jhonen Vasquez under his alias, Mr. Scolex.

Minimoose also appeared in Jhonen Vazquez's comic book adaptation of Invader Zim, which was featured in a Nickelodeon magazine, along with an interview.

[edit] Shloonktapooxis

Second in command and in charge of firing the laser weapon, Shloonktapooxis is an important member of the resistance. His appearance is that of a floating purple cone with a curled antennae. His suggestion for the resistance's name was 'The Pirate Monkeys'. His own name is a joke directed at the unpronounceable names commonly found in sci-fi shows.

Shloonktapooxis is voiced by Paul Greenberg.

[edit] Spleenk

Spleenk
Spleenk

An incredibly stupid member of the resisity. He is full of bad ideas, such as attacking Massive and naming the resistance "the Resisty", that Lard Nar uses for some reason. When under stress he seems to twitch and roll around on the ground uncontrollably, similar to a seizure. Spleenk was voiced by Rodger Bumpass.

[edit] Nightmare World Inhabitants

Nightmare World Inhabitants
Nightmare World Inhabitants

Grotesque and monstrous versions of all of Earth's inhabitants; in the episode "Halloween Spectacular of Spooky Doom" Dib, after accidentally tearing open a wormhole in his head, was continually shifted from Earth to the Nightmare world. It was eventually revealed that the Nightmare creatures had planned on leaving their wasteland dimension to invade Earth by going through the portal in Dib's head.

After being captured by the Nightmare creatures, Dib was surprisingly saved by Zim and the two managed to escape the Nightmare world, though the alternate version of Ms. Bitters had followed them; only to return to her own world in disgust after seeing a candy bloated and filthy Gir.

Nightmare Bitters was voiced by Rodger Bumpass. Nightmare Membrane was voiced by Rodger Bumpass. Nightmare Gaz was voiced by Melissa Fahn. The Nightmare Whitecoats were voiced by Rosearik Rikki Simons and Phil LaMarr. Hummelflesh: Destroyer of Worlds was voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson. Yolk was voiced by Jhonen Vasquez. The Enigma was voiced by Rosearik Rikki Simons.

On a sidenote Jhonen's comicbook character Johnny the Homicidal Maniac makes a cameo as one of the nightmare inhabitants. He is a silhouette with purple eyes that is with the Nightmare Creatures in the Nightmare Skool.

[edit] Pigs, Bees, Squirrels and Moose

Piggy

Many of these creatures are seen throughout Zim. GIR is obsessed with piggies and has one nearly all the time. In the episode "Bad, Bad Rubber Piggy", Zim uses all of GIR's toy piggies to replace vital items in Dib's past in an attempt to destroy him. Gaz can be seen drawing piggies in the episode Bloaty's Pizza Hog, an entire episode revolves around her gaining the senses of a pig, and Bloaty from Bloaty's Pizza Hog is a grotesque man in a pig suit. There is also a Mysterious Mystery file referring to "Pigfoot'. Moose are present in the form of Minimoose and the horrible nut-eating moose in Room With a Moose, and GIR plays with a little toy moose in "Invasion of the Idiot Dog Brain". while Zim declares war on the 'evil death bees' for downing his Voot Cruiser in Saucer Morons and presents a robot bee in Tak, the Hideous New Girl. In Walk of Doom, Zim finds a bee hive in GIR's head while trying to insert the guidance chip and throws it in a chute where it's sucked up (GIR is upset about this, saying "Aw, my bees."). Squirrels appear in Zim's lab, dancing on Dib's school windowsill, and crawling over the Dib Ship. Zim also reprograms his classmate Keef to see a squirrel on a fence as Zim. In the commentary session for the episode "Attack of the saucer morons", Creator Jhonen Vasquez states "People ask me if I have a thing about Piggies, Squirrels or Moose, I do not. I do, however, have a thing about Bees".
