[edit] Branded Cars
[edit] Assoluto
- Bisonte - R4, RP, RP2, RR6, RR7 - The mascot car of Ridge Racer Type 4, though not the most powerful racer from Assoluto unlockable in its class (that honor went to the Fatalita.) It gets a complete redesign for its succeeding game appearances; that incarnation resembles the Lamborghini Gallardo.
- Fatalita — RA, R4, RP, RP2, RR6, RR7 — First appeared as the mascot car for Rage Racer, along with race queen Reiko Nagase. It also appeared as an unlockable car in R4, in class 2. The Fatalita was one of the models updated over time. The 1996-1999 model resembles the Porsche 911 GT1 and features a triple rotary engine (hence its high revving range), while the model used in Ridge Racers and Ridge Racer 6 bears a similarity to the Lamborghini Gallardo, down to its V-10 engine.
- Ghepardo - RA - The only Class 5 car available in Rage Racer. Resembles the Porsche 956.
- Istante — RA — A Class 4 car from Rage Racer. Resembles the Lamborghini Diablo.
- Pronzione - RR6, RR7 - A special hovercraft car, and the sporty successor to the Vulcano. It corrects many mistakes in the Vulcano's design, most notably its predecessor's low fuel economy. Its very futuristic appearance is further heightened by the fact that it is sponsored by companies like Neucom, General Resources, and Night Raven, all names from the very futuristic Namco title Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere.
- Vulcano - R4 - A very futuristic vehicle with a military theme, also the game's first hovercraft. Ridge Racer 6 looks back on the Vulcano as a inefficient, gas-guzzling prototype that drew a lot of criticism from fans
[edit] Agé/Agé Solo
(Note: Agé Solo is the name given to the Agé brand in Ridge Racer Type 4.)
- Abeille — RA, RP, RP2, R6, RR7 — A hatchback made by Agé, with grip-style handling in Rage Racer and 'standard' drift capabilities in Ridge Racer for the PSP. In Rage Racer it was a Class 3 car styled after the Renault 5, while in Ridge Racers it bore more resemblance to the Peugeot 207.
- Alouette — RA — Known as the Erriso in the North American version of Rage Racer. A sub-compact rear-engined Class 2 machine that resembles the Subaru 360 with a more rounded nose.
- Pegase — RA — A Class 4 Lotus Seven-inspired machine available only in manual transmission.
- Prophetie — R4, RP, RP2, RR6, RR7 — Agé's entry-level model in R4 and Ridge Racers. The styling of the cars is dramatically different between the games, the original resembled a late-model Toyota MR2 while the new version is styled in the vein of a Porsche Boxster.
- Supernova - R4, RR64
- Ultranova - RR6 - A car that resembles a heavily-stylized Formula One car, as well as a Caterham Seven. According to the RR6 story, this car is a re-bodied chassis that won a World Championship the year before the game.
- Crinale Kid - Ridge Racers 2 (PSP)
- Angelus Kid - Ridge Racers 2 (PSP)
[edit] Gnade
Gnade is the German translation of the word "mercy." It debuted in Rage Racer with the Esperanza, the game's starting car. As continues to be fitting of the name, the car's handling was something that beginners can easily adjust to.
- Esperanza — RA, RP, RP2, RR6, RR7 — Gnade's most familiar model, and the only model unlocked at the start of Rage Racer. A BMW-style 2-door saloon, it is recommended by the Rage Racer manual for the Mythical Coast track. Also appears with radically different styling in the Ridge Racers as a 'mild' drift-type. Esperanza translates into "hope" from Spanish.
- G00 — RR6, RR7 — So far the only drivable 4-door sedan in the series. Styled after the latest Mercedes-Benz models.
- Magnifico - RR7 - A new model from Gnade whose taillights resemble
[edit] Himmel
- E.O. — RRV, RP, RP2, RR6, RR7 - One of the fastest normal cars in Ridge Racer V and Ridge Racers. Its pod-like styling and rear-mounted horizontally-opposed V6 effectively make the car an homage to the Porsche 911.
- 490B - RR6, RR7 - A very futuristic concept car, accessible as a special car. It is said to have been designed with Himmel's love of the rear-engine, rear-wheel drive layout in mind, further accentuating the similarities between Himmel and the real-world auto company Porsche.
[edit] Kamata
- Angelus — RRV, RP, RP2, RR6, RR7 — The "White Angel" car with a brand label. Originally appears as a McLaren F1-styled vehicle faithful to its original Ridge Racer Revolution incarnation, but is dramatically restyled for Ridge Racers. The gun-barrel style used in that game is further refined for its appearance in Ridge Racer 7. The Angelus was restyled back to a design more faithful to its original incarnation for Ridge Racer 6, and the version used in Ridge Racers 2 is essentially a port of its Ridge Racer V version.
- Fiaro/Fiera — RRV, RP, RP2, RR6, RR7 — In RRV this car was intended as a design evolution of the original RR drift car, which was paradoxically given grip capabilities and badged a Terrazi in R4. However, the design was changed for Ridge Racers and again for Ridge Racer 6.
- RC410 - RR7 - The RC410 first appeared in the game with very great speed and handling. It was shown both in the cover box and in the game. This is the only vehicle that does not feature the "Complete" version of the RC410. It resembles the Concept version of the Nissan Skyline GT-R.
- Fortune — RRV — A compact FWD model from Ridge Racer V that resembles the EG Honda Civic hatch.
[edit] Lizard/Danver
(Note: Both brands share many of their model names across different games, thus it can be assumed that Danver took over the Lizard brand some time between R4 and RRV.)
- Bayonet — RA, RP, RP2, RR6, RR7 — A serpentine-styled C3 Chevrolet Corvette that first appeared as a Class 3 car from Lizard in Rage Racer. It later made an appearance under the Danver badge in Ridge Racers and later Ridge Racer 6, with futuristic styling.
- Bass Cruiser - RR6 - A special car and the series' first drivable SUV. The name and style of this vehicle is an homage to the large, "pimped" SUVs that have become an icon of hip-hop culture, which is also linked with street racing in general.
- Bonfire — R4 - The starter car for Lizard drivers in R4.
- Hijack — RA, RP2, RR6, RR7 — The only drivable truck in the Ridge Racer series. It made its debut in Rage Racer as a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series-style truck in Class 4. Appears with the Danver badge in Ridge Racer 6 and is the replacement for the Rally-X car in Ridge Racers 2.
- Instinct — RA — A Class 2 Lizard vehicle from Rage Racer resembling a 1960s Chevrolet Camaro. Known as the Acceron in the NTSC versions.
- Spectra — RRV — A 1950s style Danver car with tailfins and a V8 Engine that produces astronomical amounts of torque. Available as an unlockable in Ridge Racer V after defeating Pluto in Duel Mode.
- Toreador — RRV — An intermediate-level Danver drift car that resembles a late-model SN-95 Ford Mustang.
- Nightmare - R4, RR64 - A Prototype race car with a race number of 13. This could qualify as the "13th Racing" of R4: Ridge Racer Type 4.
[edit] Rivelta
- Crinale - RRV - The "devil car" of the original Ridge Racer, given a high-poly makeover.
- Mercurio - RRV - Designated as a symbol of Ridge City racing; balanced car of speed and grip. Vaguely resembles the Ferrari 360 Modena.
- Solare - RRV - The branded and high-poly version of the Ferrari Testarossa look-alike that became a staple of the early Ridge Racer games. Oddly, a car that also bore a lot of similarity to these "rivals" was the Lizard Detector.
[edit] Sinseong
- Jujak - RR7 - Ridge Racer's first Korean brand.
[edit] Soldat
- Crinale — RP, RP2, RR6, RR7 — The Crinale first appears under the Soldat marque in Ridge Racers, with an entirely new form that is influenced by stealth fighters and even made of FRP, often used in the aerospace industry. Its usual shape resembles that of a Group C endurance racer or Le Mans prototype, and is called the "Devil" car because of its bad road manners (a tendency to drift excessively and lose control), its menacing appearance, and devil logo. It is still the "Devil" car of Ridge Racer 6, marking a return to its original Le Mans-inspired shape, only updated with futuristic elements. Its headlights are pairs of three ominous purple slits. The Ridge Racers 2 version is essentially a port of the Rivelta version of Ridge Racer V. In Ridge Racer 7, the Crinale adopts a refined version of the form used in Ridge Racers, with design elements that look lifted from the Bugatti Veyron.
- Meltfire — RR6, RR7 — The mascot car for Ridge Racer 6, bearing a resemblance to the Ferrari F430. It's rear lights resemble a McLaren Mercedes SLR.
- Raggio — RP, RP2, RR6, RR7 — The mascot car for Ridge Racer PSP and Ridge Racer 2 PSP and possibly for Ridge Racer 7. A V-12 mid-engined wonder with a Ferrari Enzo feel. A replica of this car was built for a real-life gaming convention in 2005, rumored to have the chassis of a Daihatsu Storia.
- Rumeur — RRV — A rotund Volkswagen New Beetle look-alike with pinpoint handling and massive amounts of grip, sharply contrasting with the bold, linear Raggio. Judging by the modifications it's safe to assume that the model presented in Ridge Racer V is a highly customized version and not the base.
[edit] Terrazi
- Ambitious - R4 - Bears a closer resemblance to the original Ridge Racer car than the Fiera.
- Centelee - RR7
- Starnose - RR6, RR7 - A car designed after the Lotus/Caterham Seven, down to the long nose and exposed front wheels with their own independent fenders. They are even described as stripped-down sports cars with little to no luxury.
- Terrajin - RR6 - a futuristic car that appears to have rocket engines on its back end. Rumors surround the car in the Ridge Racer world, the most popular one is that it shares its chassis with a space rover.
- Wild Gang - RR6, RR7 - the Wild Gang is a small car that vaguely resembles a Volkswagen New Beetle and it's general shape resembles a Nissan Micra.
