List of alien species in the Honorverse

This is a list of known aliens in the Honorverse. By the setting of the Honorverse, humanity has met 12 sentient alien speices. However, only two, the Stilties and Treecats are named. The list also includes human variants as a result of genetic engineering.

Alphanes are an ancient race of sentient bipedal reptilians, perhaps related to Growlers. They inhabitted several planets in Human space over 100,000 years ago. They built cities out of crystals that seemingly are grown out of bedrock. Their books are holographic crystals that are activated using AC power.

Growlers are a sort of reptilian dog that make good pets and growling sounds. They are hypothesized to be the degenerate descendants of the Alphanes. They are found on all Alphane worlds.

A particularly viscious freshwater predator native to Sphynx.

[edit] Stilties

Stilties are a fictional species in the Honorverse fictional universe. They are native to Medusa in the Basilisk system, and were more or less equivalent technologically to late Bronze age humans when discovered. They are trilaterally symmetric, i.e. have 3 legs and 3 arms.

Sphinx Treecats have six limbs and are quite intelligent. They posses powerful telepathic ability among themselves, and an empathic sense with all other creatures. They are six limbed, with a set of 'true hands' closest to the head that allows for tool usage. By themselves, they had developed to a pre-agricultural society but have recently begun intergrating human ideas and thought into their culture. They have also colonized other worlds in From the Ashes with significant help from their human allies.
