This is a list of acronyms connected with the three International Baccalaureate programmes: the IB Diploma Programme, the IB Middle Years Programme and the IB Primary Years Programme. All of these programmes are characterised by their making frequent use of acronyms, whether official or unofficial, and this list makes an attempt to state and explain them.

AHL = Additional Higher Level
CAS = Creativity, Action, Service 
a 150-hour requirement of extracurricular activities, social service, and other forms of non-school-related activities, with the IB Diploma Programme.
EA = External Assessment 
student work that is assessed by external IBO graders (rather than by the student's teachers), comprising a certain percentage of the final grade in each IB subject.
EE = Extended Essay 
a 4000-word essay on a topic of the student's choice, required by the IB Diploma Programme.
G4P = Group Four Project 
a project involving all the subjects in Group 4 of the IB Diploma Programme syllabus (experimental sciences).
HL = Higher Level 
the more in-depth level of study for a subject, with 240 hours of teaching time.
HOTA or HOA = History of the Americas 
one of several regional options available in Group 3 (history).
IA = Internal Assessment 
the portion of student assessment done by the teacher (as opposed to by the IBO), weighing a certain percentage of the final grade in each IB subject.
IB = International Baccalaureate 
the group of three educational programmes designed by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
IBAEM = IB Africa / Europe / Middle East 
an IBO regional office.
IBAP = IB Asia / Pacific 
an IBO regional office.
IBC = IB Coordinator 
The head of IB activities at a school.
IBCA = IB Curriculum & Assessment Centre 
an IBO office.
IBDP = IB Diploma Programme 
the last of the three programmes, at pre-university level.
IBLA = IB Latin America 
an IBO regional office.
IBNA = IB North America 
an IBO regional office.
IBO = International Baccalaureate Organization 
the organisation responsible for the three IB programmes.
IBRU = IB Research Unit 
a sub-entity of the IBO.
IOC = Individual Oral Commentary 
an exam of the Group 1 subject in which students are required to explore a passage of text and present to an examiner.
IOP = Individual Oral Presentation 
a presentation as part of the Group 1 subject that involves the exploration of 1 or more texts studied in the course.
ITGS = Information Technology in a Global Society 
an IB subject in Group 4.
MYP = IB Middle Years Programme 
the programme for students aged approximately 11 to 16.
OCC = Online Curriculum Centre 
online resource center and discussion forums for teachers provided by the IBO
PYP = IB Primary Years Programme 
the programme for students aged about 3 to 12.
SL = Standard Level 
the 'lower' level of study for a specific subject, warranting about 150 hours of teaching time in total.
SSC = Subject Specific Core
TOK = Theory of Knowledge 
a 100-hour course in epistemology required by the IB Diploma Programme.
WL = World Literature Assignment 
a requirement of the IB language A1 (the student's native language) course - an essay on world literature (two for HL).
WT = Written Tasks 
two written works required by the language A2 in the IB Diploma Programme.
