[edit] Baby Bowser

Baby Bowser
Baby Bowser

Baby Bowser is the young version of Bowser, and is the final boss of World 6 in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. In this game, Baby Bowser wants to ride Yoshi, calling him a "gween donkey". Baby Bowser attacks by ground-pounding the floor in his nursery, creating a ripple that causes Baby Mario to fall off of Yoshi's back. He also attempts to jump on Yoshi's back, knocking Baby Mario off. To defeat him, Yoshi must ground pound and create ripples, which damage Baby Bowser. After being hit by three ripples, Kamek will turn Baby Bowser into a Giant Baby Bowser. Though Baby Bowser is one of the main rivals of Yoshi, he didn't appear in Tetris Attack. Instead, full-grown Bowser took his place as the final of the last four bosses.

Baby Bowser also appears as the final boss in Yoshi Touch and Go and Yoshi Topsy Turvy. Baby Bowser also appears as an antagonist in the non-Yoshi game Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time.

Baby Bowser is surprisingly playable in Yoshi's Island DS. Here he aids Yoshi by using his fireballs to melt ice and defeat enemies. Also, he is the final boss of World 5 who starts off the three-stage boss battle . In the end of the game Baby Bowser betrays Yoshi though and battles him. He shoots fireballs at him and Yoshi must hit Baby Bowser three times with his eggs.

[edit] Bowser

Though Bowser usually appears as the main enemy in the mainstream Mario series he has appeared as the main atagonist in at least two Yoshi series games.

In Tetris Attack Bowser and Kamek, trying to get revenge on Yoshi place a curse on Yoshi's Island. Bowser only appears at the end of the game to battle Yoshi.

In Yoshi's Island DS it is revealed that Bowser was the one who orchestrated the kidnapping of dozens of babies. In this game Bowser travels back in time in search of seven legendary stars that can apparently give him the power to rule the universe. Bowser appears as the game's final boss of World 5, right after his child self. After his child self is defeated three times, Kamek will carry him on his broom and Bowser will appear to battle him. Yoshi must hit Bowser with a giant egg and ground pound his belly three times. After he is hit three times, Kamek will supersize Bowser into Giant Bowser. This time, Green Yoshi, Pink Yoshi, Yellow Yoshi, and Purple Yoshi battle him. The Yoshis must hit his face with four giant eggs carried by a balloon. He will shoot fire and throw rocks.

[edit] Kamek

Kamek on a broomstick
Kamek on a broomstick

Kamek is the main enemy of the Yoshi clan and usually appears as the main atagonist in the Yoshi series games.

In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Kamek, foreseeing that in the future two heroes (who would be born that night) would cause chaos for the Koopa Kingdom tried to intercept the babies delivery by a stork. Attacking the stork Kamek only succeeded in kidnapping one baby, the other, Baby Mario, fell to Yoshi's Island. Here he landed on Yoshi's back.

Kamek appears before every boss battle to enlarge a monster (or give them some kind of advantage) to fight Yoshi. After Baby Bowser is defeated Kamek swoops down and grabs the young Koopa prince, he vows revenge against Yoshi before zooming off.

Kamek also appears as the third boss in Tetris Attack. He also appears in Yoshi Touch and Go and Yoshi Topsy Turvy.

Kamek will appear in the last stage too. First he wants to hurt you when you are a helicopter, and he appears when you entered the long hallway before the chamber with Bowser. When you are there, Kamek appears on colored bricks. Kamek will shoot spells at you. It knocks Baby Mario off from your back. But if the spell touch a brick, it will change in a star, a monster, or a coin!

Kamek also appears, along with Baby Bowser and the adult Bowser as a main antagonists in Yoshi's Island DS. Once again he appears to enlarge/improve bosses. He works with Bowser and Baby Bowser to kidnap infants and try and stop the Yoshi clan from foiling their evil plans.

Kamek has also appeared in a few non-Yoshi games such as Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time.

[edit] Bosses featured in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

The bosses Hookbill the Koopa, Naval Piranha and Raphael the Raven also appear in the game Tetris Attack. A Super Big Tap-Tap also appears in Yoshi's Island DS.

[edit] Burt the Bashful

Burt the Bashful
Burt the Bashful

Burt is the first miniboss of World 1 encountered in Yoshi's Island, Burt is an enlarged version of the smaller Burt enemy. Burt's only method of attack is jumping around the room. In order to defeat Burt, Yoshi must hit him with eggs. Every time Burt is hit with an egg, his pants shrink in size. After being hit six times, his pants disappear, causing him to blush and deflate.

[edit] Salvo the Slime

Salvo the Slime
Salvo the Slime

Salvo is an enlarged version of the Lemon Drop enemy and is the final boss of World 1. Salvo is actually the easiest boss in the game, even easier than Burt. Salvo isn't even able to damage Yoshi. Yoshi must hurl eggs at Salvo, getting hit will make him smaller and also dispatch lemon drops which can hurt Yoshi. Salvo also appears in the later boss levels, where he looks like a large platform and he will be guarding a key and try to knock Yoshi onto spikes, he ends up met with the same results.

Salvo reappears in Mario Party Advance on the second floor of the Duel Tower. This game reveals that Salvo is capable of speech.

[edit] Bigger Boo

Yoshi attempts to damage Bigger Boo indirectly.
Yoshi attempts to damage Bigger Boo indirectly.

Bigger Boo is an enlarged version of Big Boo, and is the miniboss of World 2. in Yoshi's Island. Like ordinary Boos, Bigger Boo hides when looked at directly by Yoshi, and attacks when Yoshi's back is turned. Bigger Boo increases in size whenever hit by eggs, which must be bounced off of walls to hit and defeat him. In order to replenish his stock of eggs, Yoshi must eat the passing Fangs that fly by. Eventually, Bigger Boo will grow so large that he explodes, thus being defeated.

[edit] Roger the Potted Ghost

Yoshi prepares to do battle with Roger.
Yoshi prepares to do battle with Roger.

Roger is not enlarged like most other bosses, instead Kamek brings him to life from a pot. Roger is the final boss of World 2. Roger combats Yoshi by spitting blue flames at him and striking at him with his entire body. Yoshi is actually unable to damage the potted ghost directly, instead he must push him off the edge. Yoshi may also lob eggs at Roger, briefly stunning him. Although Roger has two Shy Guys who try to push him back, they still aren’t as powerful and are pushed off along with Roger. Roger-esque ghosts appear in Naval Piranha's castle to block off pipes and passages, but lack the flame ability, and instead shoot Shy Guys at Yoshi.

Several members of Roger's species also appear in Yoshi's Island DS in Bessie Bass's Battleship.

[edit] Prince Froggy

Yoshi in Prince Froggy's stomach.
Yoshi in Prince Froggy's stomach.

Prince Froggy is the miniboss of World 3. Unlike all of the other bosses, who are enlarged by Kamek's magic, there is a twist in this boss battle: instead of the enemy being made bigger, Yoshi is instead made smaller and Prince Froggy mistakes Yoshi for his lunch, and swallows him. While in the frog’s stomach, digestive acids and Shy Guys that Froggy eats fall down, which can be turned into eggs. Yoshi can then throw the eggs at Froggy's uvula, causing indigestion thus expelling Yoshi and Mario from his body. Prince Froggy is also different from other bosses due to the fact that after his defeated, he does not explode or disappear. He merely regurgitates Yoshi, who is none the worse for wear.

[edit] Naval Piranha

Yoshi combats Naval Piranha.
Yoshi combats Naval Piranha.

Naval is the final boss of World 3. Naval is a magically empowered version of the Piranha Plant. The name "naval" is a pun on the word naval, indicating that she lives in water, and "navel", referring to his one weak spot: her bellybutton. Naval has three attacks, the first of which is a ramming attack. For the second attack, Naval shoots nipper spores out of her mouth which become nippers if they touch the ground. For Naval's last attack, she sends her vines to attack Yoshi. Although her attacks look devastating, they were only meant to knock Baby Mario off Yoshi's back, then Kamek's Toadies could steal Baby Mario while she eats poor Yoshi for lunch.

Alternately, if Yoshi wishes, Yoshi can defeat Naval before the battle even begins if Yoshi stands on the very first white circle of the platform above the water which prevents the battle sequence from beginning. With a properly aimed egg and the right distance, Yoshi can destroy the Piranha Plant before Kamek arrives to transform it. Naval is also the second species of Piranha plant that does not just try to eat Yoshi (Ptooie Piranha being the other). She also appears in Tetris Attack as the second of the last four bosses, she intended on eating Yoshi for supper in that game (she wanted to eat the one who removed the spell, that being Yoshi whom she has tried to make a meal of before and failed) Tetris Attack also confirmed Naval Piranha's gender as female. Naval Piranha also made a small appearance in Mario Party Advance as a boss. In the games closing credits it says that she now lives and thrives in the desert.

Naval Piranha is not to be confused with the Lava Piranha boss from Paper Mario, despite the two looking almost identical. The difference is that Naval lives in water while Lava Piranha lives in Lava.

[edit] Marching Milde

Yoshi fights Marching Milde.
Yoshi fights Marching Milde.

Marching Milde is an enlarged version of the identical version of a smaller Milde enemy, and is the miniboss of World 4. Kamek says she will "pound you to bits" while you actually have to do that yourself. Marching Milde only walks, but is invincible to eggs while giant and must keep being split in two by Yoshi’s ground pounds; when she is small, Yoshi can start eating and egging her. Marching Milde hurts Yoshi by walking into him.

[edit] Hookbill the Koopa

Hookbill the Koopa
Hookbill the Koopa

Hookbill is an enlarged version of a Koopa Troopa and is the final boss of World 4. To defeat Hookbill, Yoshi must pelt him with eggs until he falls over and then pound his belly. This must be done three times to win the battle. Hookbill has several different attacks. First, Hookbill crawls toward Yoshi on all four legs, causing Yoshi to drop Baby Mario if Hookbill touches him. When Yoshi pounds his stomach, Hookbill withdraws into his shell and starts bouncing around before proceeding to his next attack. After being wounded once, Hookbill gets up on two legs and starts running, again causing Yoshi to lose control of Baby Mario if Hookbill comes in contact with him. For his final attack, Hookbill jumps and attempts to body slam Yoshi. Once Hookbill is defeated, he falls off of the edge of the platform. Interestingly, at the beginning of the fight, Hookbill walks on all four legs like the Koopa Troopas in the games that came before Super Mario Bros..

Hookbill also appears in Tetris Attack as the first of the games four bosses.

The character in Kent C. Koopa from the game Paper Mario has a near perfect resemblance to Hookbill; the only real difference is that Kent C. wears glasses.

[edit] Sluggy the Unshaven

Sluggy the Unshaven
Sluggy the Unshaven

Sluggy is an enlarged version of a smaller Sluggy enemy that was blown up to massive proportions by Kamek and is the miniboss of World 5. Despite his rather intimidating appearance, Sluggy actually cannot harm Yoshi in any way; Yoshi will merely bounce of off Sluggy if he hits Sluggy. However, Sluggy will slowly grow in size until he fills the screen and pushes Yoshi off the edge of the platform. Sluggy's one weak spot is his heart, and Yoshi must hit Sluggy's body with a barrage of eggs and then hit the heart itself.

[edit] Raphael the Raven

Raphael the Raven
Raphael the Raven

Raphael is the final boss of World 5. When you finally arrive in the boss room, he appears as a regular Raven, but with Kamek's magic, he was transformed into Raphael the Raven. Raphael, Baby Mario and Yoshi go to the moon to fight, which is very small. Like the regular Ravens, Raphael runs around this sphere, and Yoshi has to both avoid him and confront him in order to defeat him. All Raphael has to do to harm Yoshi is to bump into him, while Yoshi must ground pound a stake down into the moon as Raphael is directly under it. Doing this causes him to go into a rage, and rush after Yoshi. He can also create sparks that orbited the moon several times by stomping the ground. Three hits takes him down, and he was knocked into the stars. He appears in the port of this game, titled Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3.

[edit] Tap-Tap the Red Nose

Tap-Tap the Red Nose

Tap-Tap the Golden

Tap-Tap is the final miniboss of World 6 before Bowser; he is an enlarged version of the smaller Tap-Tap enemy. Tap-Tap can not be damaged by Yoshi’s attacks, but can be pushed back by eggs; by destroying the breakable floor, Yoshi can knock Tap-Tap into the lava underneath it. Tap-Tap later appears in the final boss battle level after being exposed to the lava as turned gold and is invincible, even after being knocked off cliffs and into lava.

In Yoshi's Island DS a Super Big Tap-Tap appears. In this game he is an obstacle instead of boss, appearing in some levels he will attempt to roll over Yoshi.

[edit] Bosses featured in Yoshi's Story

[edit] Cloud N. Candy

Cloud. N. Candy
Cloud. N. Candy

Cloud. N. Candy is an optional boss in Yoshi's Story; it is at the end of world 3-1. It looks like what one might expect based on its name: a giant piece of cloud-shaped candy. The only way Cloud N. Candy can attack is by jumping. To win, Yoshi must keep eating it until there is nothing left of it.

[edit] Inviso

Inviso
Inviso

Inviso is an optional boss from Yoshi’s Story, he is at the end of world 3-2. Inviso’s appearance is hidden, all you see of him is his eyes and teeth. Inviso attacks by turning invisible and trying to bump into you while summoning those yellow birds. Yoshi can defeat Inviso by hitting him with three eggs.

[edit] Cloudjin

Cloudjin
Cloudjin

Cloudjin is an optional boss from Yoshi's Story; he is at the end of world 3-3. He looks like a cross between a genie and a cloud. Cloudjin attacks by breathing fire, making spike balls appear to hit you, and summoning yellow birds. Yoshi must pelt him with eggs three times to win.

[edit] Don Bongo

Don Bongo
Don Bongo

Don Bongo is an optional boss from Yoshi's Story, he is at the end world 3-4. He looks like the enemy spike from Super Mario Bros 3, except for the fact that his lips are humongous, Don Bongo attacks by walking into Yoshi and calling down pots and pans down to hit him. To defeat Don Bongo, Yoshi must hit him in the lips three times.

[edit] Bosses featured in Yoshi's Island DS

[edit] Big Burt Bros.

The Burt Bros. are two Burts supersized by Kamek, they are the first bosses of World 1 in Yoshi's Island DS. They are fought in the same manner as Burt the Bashful, also when they are defeated they too deflate and fly through the air.

[edit] Gilbert the Gooey

Gilbert is a giant tan Gooey Goon and is the final boss of World 1 in Yoshi's Island DS. Gilbert is fought in a manner similar to Cloud N. Candy, Yoshi must slurp up or thow eggs at the bubbles that stick to Gilbert's body; after all the bubbles are eaten or thrown Gilbert will explode. Gilbert attacks by bouncing up and down and side-to-side.

[edit] Hector the Reflector and the Invisighouls

Hector is a large furnitureless Invisighoul and is the first boss of World 2 in Yoshi's Island DS. Hector attempts to attack Yoshi by trying to bash into him and flinging furniture at him. Yoshi must hurt Hector by flinging eggs at him, this can be difficult due to Hector being invisible. Yoshi must look at the bottom screen of the Nintendo DS to see where Hector is; each time Hector is injured by, his Invisighoul minions will appear at the bottom screen "cracking" it, this will make him harder to see.

[edit] Big Bungee Piranha

When Yoshi walked into the final room of the Piranha plant infested castle, he had no idea Kamek was placing him on the lunch menu for his pet Big Bungee Piranha. He is a giant Bungee Piranha Plant and is the final boss of World 2 in Yoshi's Island DS. Big Bungee Piranha will try to harm Yoshi by spitting Nipper Plants at him and trying to hit him with his vines/other heads. Eventually Big Bungee Piranha will try to swoop down and devour Yoshi; Yoshi must push a Chomp Rock under Big Bungee Piranha to cause him to yelp in pain, exposing his tongue. Yoshi must hit Big Bungee Piranha's tongue to hurt, this must be done three times to defeat Big Bungee Piranha. Like Naval Piranha, Big Bungee Piranha turns gray and dissolves into dust when he is defeated.

[edit] Bessie Bass

This is the second time Yoshi has entered a boss room to be placed on the lunch Menu by Kamek. Bessie is a giant female Boss Bass (Similar to Big Bertha from Super Mario Bros. 3) and is the first boss of World 3 in Yoshi's Island DS. Bessie will try to hurt Yoshi by touching him and hopping on top of him. Yoshi must avoid these attacks and wait for Bessie to jump high into the air. When Bessie swoops downward to try and eat Yoshi for lunch she is vulnerable to being hit on the lips with an egg, if not, she will likely devour Yoshi, when eaten, Yoshi is held in the stomach for a few minutes, before Bessie gets indegestion and spits Yoshi out. Bessie must be hit three times to be defeated.

[edit] Priscilla the Peckish

Once again Yoshi is badmouthed by Kamek and placed on the lunch menu. Priscilla is a large larval Yoshi-lion (an antlion that eats Yoshi instead of ants) and is the final boss of World 3 in Yoshi's Island DS. She attacks by making Shy guys appear Via pipes to attack Yoshi and if they miss she eats them and spits needlenose's at Yoshi. Her favorite attack however is to just plain eat Yoshi for lunch. If Yoshi foolishly jumps directly above Priscilla she'll jump out and eat Yoshi. When eaten, Yoshi sits in Priscilla's mouth while she chews him up for a few minutes before spitting him out. If Kamek's toadies take the baby while Yoshi is in Priscilla's mouth, she will push him into her abdomen. Three eggs to Priscilla while she's airborne is enough to defeat her.

[edit] Six-Face Sal

Sal is a bizarre multi-faced wheel creature and is the first boss of World 4 in Yoshi's Island DS. In order to harm Sal, Yoshi must hit his pink face with an egg while avoiding his spat projectiles. Hitting Sal can be difficult to injure due to the fact that the platform Yoshi stands on can mix-up where Sal's faces are.

[edit] Big Guy the Stilted

Big Guy is a large robot Stilt Guy brought to life by Kamek. Big Guy is the final boss of World 4 in Yoshi's Island DS. Yoshi must blast Big Guy with his eggs or Baby Bowser's fireballs and try to knock the colossal Shy Guy into a nearby pit of lava while avoiding Big Guy's hops and the Shy Guys that jump out of his eyes. When Big Guy is sunken in lava Yoshi must ground pound him on the head to injure him. After being bashed on the head three times Big Guy will turn grey, crack open and sink into the lava; quite morbidly all the Shy Guys onboard Big Guy can be seen falling into the lava shrieking madly.

[edit] Moltz the Very Goonie

Moltz is a Very Goonie who knows how to throw his weight around and is the final and first boss of World 5 before Bowser in Yoshi's Island DS. Moltz will try to crush Yoshi as they free-fall from space. In order to harm Moltz, Yoshi must get above him (avoiding the feathers Moltz shoots and his flailing arms) and ground pound him on the head. After being hit Moltz will fly upward and send rockets after Yoshi. Yoshi must avoid these and hit Moltz again when he returns. After being pounded on the head three times Moltz will fall. If Yoshi tries to ground pound when Moltz is not below him, he will fall to his death.
