From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of planets appearing in the Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold.

  • Athos - A planet with an exclusively male society. The homeworld of Dr. Ethan Urquhart in the novel Ethan of Athos in Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga.
  • Aslund - Connected to the Hegen Hub, which is its only route to the rest of the galaxy.
  • Barrayar - A planet with a feudal, military culture in Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga.
  • Beta Colony - Most scientifically advanced planet in the galaxy. Also, the most liberally tolerant and open, as well as egalitarian.
  • Cetaganda - A planet with a culture based on genetical engineering in the Vorkosigan Saga series of Lois McMaster Bujold.
  • Dagoola IV - Site of a Cetagandan prisoner of war camp.
  • Earth - Hypothetically the same as the normal one. Most populous planet. Also competitive with Beta Colony for technological advancement. Nobody messes with Earth.
  • Escobar - A wealthy and advanced planet; subject of an abortive invasion attempt by Barrayar.
  • Jackson's Whole - Capitalism incarnate. Everything is done based on what you can pay for and only "THE DEAL" is sacred.
  • Illyrica - Famous shipbuilding planet, though the story never makes its way there as a setting.
  • Komarr - Formerly independent planet with many wormhole links, including the only existing gateway to Barrayar; later invaded and annexed by Barrayar.
  • Marilac - Occupied by the Cetagandan Empire; eventually regained its independence, thanks in part to covert Barrayaran aid.
  • Pol - Link from Komarr to the Hegen Hub
  • Sergyar - Newest addition to the Barrayaran empire. A previously uninhabited planet with a link from Komarr to Escobar.
  • Tau Verde IV - Site of Miles's subversion of the Oseran Mercenaries into the Dendarii Mercenaries
  • Vervain - One of the planets lying off of the Hegen Hub; briefly invaded by the Cetagandan Empire.
