[edit] Alastor
Alastor is a character from the Capcom video game series Viewtiful Joe.
Alastor, an electrical demon from the Underworld, is an agent of the Jadow organization that uses the nickname "The Midnight Thunderboy". Though he is allied with Jadow, Alastor doesn't give much thought about his position. Instead he longs to seek out "the ultimate battle", and can be considered an "anti-hero" to an extent. He sees himself as the arch-rival of Viewtiful Joe, and always appears with the intent to defeat him.
In all games he mainly appears in "Blade Master" form as a humanoid figure in purple spandex and light body armor. He wears a helmet with a pair of purple ibex horns, and has wings and a pointed tail. He does have several other forms depending on the game. In Viewtiful Joe (VJ1) and Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble (RHR) he also appears in "Stylish" form with pointed ears and spikey black hair dressed in a black suit and a white stole with winged skulls embroidered on the ends. In VJ2 he also appears in an "Underworld Emperor" form that resembles the Alastor devil trigger from Devil May Cry. He uses electrical attacks wields a sword, which he can throw and charge with electricity for special attacks. He pilots the giant robot dubbed "Rex Majin" to counter Joe's "Six Majin" robot in Viewtiful Joe : Double Trouble.
In the first game, Alastor first meets Joe while disguised as him in the chapter "The Viewtiful Escape", but drops the act and escapes after losing the fight. In the next stage, "The Midnight Thunderboy" Joe and Alastor meet outside the Jadow base, where Alastor reads from the game script and tells Joe of Jadow's plans. Despite losing both battles, he expresses awe of Joe's "beautiful" fighting skills, which Joe adapts into his "Viewtiful" title.
Many of Alastor's attacks (Stinger, Vortex, Round Trip, Air Raid, etc.) are also abilities used by Dante in DMC with the aid of the Alastor or Sparda swords. Dante appears as a playable character in the Playstation 2 port of VJ1, and when he meets Alastor their dialog indicates that Alastor the character is the spirit that animated the Alastor sword in the first DMC game. Alastor accuses Dante of treating him badly and forgetting about him, then challenges him to a fight to see who is the strongest. When Alastor loses, Dante promises to be faithful, but Alastor leaves saying he "needs to have a cry".
Alastor can also be unlocked as a playable character in VJ1 by completing it on V-Rated mode, which is unlocked by completing Adults mode. Like the other extra characters in the game, his play mechanics are similar to Joe. In the Alastor storyline, he challenges Captain Blue while watching one of his movies with Silvia's twin sister Goldie. Captain Blue then kidnaps Goldie and Alastor follows them into the movie to fight. At first he shows little interest in Goldie and refers to her as "Hey" or "Woman", despite her constant flirting. In the end, however, after saving her and she gets her own V-watch, he does show some feelings for her, and they both fly off.
Alastor shows up for another fight again as the fourth stage boss in Viewtiful Joe 2. In VJ2, Jadow is defunct, and unlike the other villains in the game, Alastor is not affiliated with Gedow. The Tyrannosaur Big John appears at the beginning to challenge Joe or Silvia, but is dispatched by Alastor so he can fight them instead. Although he loses the first fight, Alastor gains unexpected help when Joe's father, Jet, starts playing 'The Black Film'. As a result of his powers being amplified by the film's evil, Alastor transforms into his sword and speaks the same line he said to Dante during his introduction scene in Devil May Cry ("I am Alastor. The weak shall give their heart and swear their eternal loyalty to me.") The sword flies at Joe in an attempt to impale him, also like Dante. When Joe dodges, Alastor changes into a form similar to Dante's Alastor Devil Trigger and begins the fight.
Alastor also arrives for a fight in the Nintendo DS game, Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble. The battle is in two parts: first being face to face (in quite remarkably, a 2-D version of the arena where Joe and Alastor first face off in Viewtiful Joe), the second being a giant robot duel between Joe's Six Majin and Alastor's Rex Majin. After the battle he faces off against Queen Heidriella, commenting that he wishes to be the one to finally defeat Joe, and will stop anyone who tries to beat him to it.
Alastor appears in RHR in both Blade Master and Stylish form. Each character in the game gets an extra costume, and Alastor's are both derived from clothing he wore in the Viewtiful Joe anime. Blade Master Alastor gets the purple wedding suit and carnation he wore in episode 15, and Stylish Alastor gets the octopus costume he wore in episode 17. In story mode, Alastor's stage is the first level, and is set in a South American style temple similar to his stage in VJ1. In RHR, he is portrayed as somewhat vain, and wants to star in the movie that Captain Blue is casting for.
In the anime, Alastor is similar to the video game character. He works for Jadow but cares only about fighting Joe, even though he tends to act more seriously than in the games. He considers himself Joe's rival, dispite question Joe's methods. Alastor was also the one who gave Joe the inspiration for his "hero name." He also harbors a small crush on Silvia, and has shown a softer side to his personality. He restainted Fire Leo near the end of the Jadow arc as they both fell into the void that surrounds Jadow headquarters during Fire Leo's fight with Joe. But Alastor promised to survive so he and Joe can finally settle their rivalry. The second half, yet to be seen in the US, Alastor cannot switch freely between Blade Master and Stylish forms, and there is a long, multi-episode story arc related to this.
[edit] Captain Blue
Captain Blue is a character in the game series Viewtiful Joe by Capcom. He is voiced by Gregg Berger in the games. He is voiced in the Viewtiful Joe anime by Banjō Ginga in the original Japanese, and by the late John Smallberries and later by George C. Cole in the English dub.
At first, Captain Blue appears to be an ordinary movie superhero, until Joe gets sucked into the movie. There, an aged Blue (with a gray mustache and a bulging pot belly) gives him his V-Watch and helps him learn the Slow, Mach Speed, and Zoom abilities by fighting Joe in mini-boss battles. After the 2nd level Blue disappears until the end of the game.
There, it is revealed that he is the leader of the JADOW organization, the ones who kidnapped Silvia, and that he is Silvia's father. He transforms into the gigantic monster King Blue, forcing Joe to use Six Majin (his giant robot) to counter-attack. When King Blue is defeated, he returns to normal size and reverts to a younger, fitter form (with a brown mustache and a trim muscular body), and fights Joe alone.
After Joe defeats him again, Captain Blue, snapped out of his evil ways (and returned to his older form), reveals his past. He was a movie director, famous for his superhero movies, but he soon lost popularity. He became happy again when he was transported into one of his movies, becoming the hero Captain Blue. But, as he put it, "the seed of evil" was growing in his heart. He began to lead the JADOW, abandoning his superhero role. However, he doesn't seem to need to come out of retirement, because Joe has taken the mantle of the hero.
However, by beating the game on the hardest difficulty (Ultra V-Rated), Captain Blue becomes playable in his older, pot-bellied form. His story is mostly the same as Joe's, except that he has to save his wife, Ivory (who is presumably Silvia and Goldie's mother). The bosses recognize him as the "heroic" Captain Blue they used to fight in his prime, and not as the leader of Jadow, and the final battle involves him fighting his "dark side" to purge the evil from Movieland and atone for his sins.
Blue plays a minor role in Viewtiful Joe 2, having been turned into a Rainbow Oscar, the objects the GEDOW are looking for.
Captain Blue is a playable character in Red Hot Rumble, as well as being part of the story. The players are fighting for the lead role in Blue's new movie. Three different versions of Captain Blue are playable; Captain Blue, Director Blue (his non-henshin version) and Young Captain Blue, as he appears on his past movies.
[edit] Captain Blue Jr.
Captain Blue Jr. is a character who originated in the Viewtiful Joe anime. Blue Jr.'s real name is Junior, who was Captain Blue's successor until Joe came along, and because Joe was the one who got Blue's V-Watch, he is very jealous of Joe. Despite his jealousy, Junior decided to be Joe's sidekick and offered his knowledge of Movieland as a helping hand. Later, after Joe defeated Blue at the end of the first saga, Junior was offered a V-Watch but refused, so Blue just gave Junior a small case which would help Junior if he would ever change his mind. Junior later did use the contents of the case, 2 V-Yoyos, to transform for real and helped Joe and Silvia to defeat Big John. Blue Jr.'s transformation line is "Henshin-a-Yo-Yo, Baby!!"
Captain Blue Jr. appeared in a game for the very first time in Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble. He uses many Yo-Yo based attacks. Whether or not he will appear in another game is anyone's guess, but in spite of the anime series ending, he will live on in the video games.
In RHR he has two playable forms; Captain Blue and Young Blue Jr. (his un-henshined form). All characters have alternative costumes, Captain Blue Jr. appears with his "fake henshin" outfit and Young Blue Jr. appears as Kid Joe (Joe as a child).
[edit] JADOW
[edit] Almighty Leader
The leader of JADOW, who is so far a disembodied voice. Code-named "Omnipontent". When Joe managed to get into Jadow headquarters, he found Silvia, only tosee her adbucted by the evil leader who activate the Jadow base self-destuct. Once Joe to the stadium, "Almighty Leader" was revealed to be none other than Captain Blue, who attempted to break Joe's spirit and thus devasatated Joe mentally before destroying him physically. But the words of those Joe had befriended in his adventure enabled Joe's confidence to return and fight Blue back. Piloting the King Blue giant robot, Blue was defeated by Joe in Robo Six.
[edit] Sprocket
Sprocket is a character in the popular franchise Viewtiful Joe. Unlike most of the characters, however, she was made specifically for the anime, and so far has only appeared in one game, Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble. In the anime she is voiced by Wendee Lee and in the games is voiced by Vanessa Marshall.
In Red Hot Rumble, she is no longer jealous of Silvia. Also, she is the one who came up with the idea of the fighting auditions. She is referred to in the manual as the Alluring Sprocket, which may be her super hero name. Capt. Blue seems to be enamored by her looks and "curves", and is often blushing around her.
According to the promotional videos for Red Hot Rumble, She originally attcked with kicks and punches like the others. However, in the final version of the game, she ended up using Biankies and other Jadow henchmen (such as Red Leaders and Gelbies) for her special attacks and blowing large, damaging kisses for all of her normal attacks.
[edit] Anime
In the anime she is depicted as rather strict and calculative, but is often portrayed in a slightly humorous light, such as wishing she had become a librarian like her mother suggested instead of being a villainess. She is also insanely jealous of Silvia. In fact, in an episode where Alastor and Silvia were supposed to get married, Sprocket's lines mostly consisted of "I hate that woman!!" or variations of it. She also dons many costumes.
[edit] Fire Leo
The strongest member of Jadow, codenamed "Inferno Lord." He was sent to fight Joe after the incompentence of the other agents. He developed a grudge on Joe for being referred to a dog when he is clearly a lion, and his fiery mane extinguished in his first defeat by Joe. He's one of few Jadow members to question Alastor's loyalities. When Joe arrived to Jadow HQ, Fire Leo wanted to kill Joe and overpowered him. At the last second, Fire Leo was restianted by Alastor as they fell into the void that surrounds Jadow headquarters. Whether he survived or not is unknown.
[edit] Hulk Davidson
A rhino-like agent of Jadow, codenamed "Iron Ogre". He scarred Capt. Blue during a previous battle they had. Wields a battle axe and wears a horned helmet. Also sings and collects motorcycles. He, Charles the Third, and Gran Bruce were fired for their incompentence after serval attempts to do away with Joe and were banished to the real world after King Blue's defeat.
[edit] Gran Bruce
A shark-like agent of Jadow, codenamed "Aquatic Terror." Is considerably lower on the intelligence scale than most of the other Jadow and speaks in an Australian accent (as perceived by Americans). He, Hulk Davidson, and Charles the Third were fired for their incompentence after several attempts to do away with Joe and were banished to the real world after King Blue's defeat.
[edit] Charles the Third
A bat-like agent of Jadow, codenamed "Dark Fiend." Arrogant and snobbish with a French accent, Charles is full of tricks and has feelings for Sprocket. He, Hulk Davidson, and Gran Bruce were fired for their incompentence after serval attempts to do away with Joe and were banished to the real world upon King Blue's defeat.
[edit] Rotten Jack
A jack in the box-like agent of Jadow who posed as a clown while selling his brainwashing Slugoons (Suragon) to children in a plan to recruit the preteen youth to Jadow's cause. Codenamed: Toxic Toybox
[edit] Almighty Big-Mask
A stone-face agent of Jadow sent to adbuct a princess under the guise of the Big Mask of Truth.
[edit] Bruce Davidson The Third
A robot created in a joint project by Charles the Third, Hulk Davidson, & Gran Bruce to take down Joe. Bruce Davidson the 3rd combines the attributes of his three creators which at first seemed a good move. But each attribute canceled the other two out so the robot was not really a threat. Instead, it could barely fight and more often seemed to dance due to bad programing. Joe puts it "The sad thing is some people actually dance that way."
[edit] Whiteout & Blackout
The two Choromotoid brothers Jadow sent to steal Digicolor Town of its color, they use vacuums to suck up the color.
[edit] Fake Sylvia
Posed as Silvia to steal the V-Watch from Joe. Her true form is a chameleon like woman whose other forms are a homage to the Jedi from the Star Wars movie series, and spoofs of Robocop and a martial atist chick.
[edit] Jet Black
Jet Black is a fictional character who appeared in Viewtiful Joe 2. He is Joe's father and was a movie theatre owner.
During his early years as a theatre owner he helped the director, Captain Blue, get to his fame in Movieland. However, when Joe was born, he wanted him to see a true hero. That's when luck finally came his way, or so he thought. He discovered the evil ' Black Film' which made the darkness inside of him grow and warped his ideals turning him into a villain. He then tried to find all 7 of the Rainbow Oscars to help get him power to become the 'Ultimate Hero' . With this power he would be able to use his VFX powers outside of movieland without the aid of any other power source (Such as the V-cam) and as such could finally show his son what a 'True hero' was.
During Viewtiful Joe 2 though he was defeated by his son (Viewtiful) Joe and his son's girlfriend (Sexy) Silvia after he had taken the powers of the Rainbow Oscars and the Black Film inside of himself.
Now, he helps Joe, Silvia, and Captain Blue, in finding the origins of The Black Film, a film that helped him become evil, and the Black V-Watch. It is presumable that the death of his wife, Junko, (as told in Viewtiful Joe Double trouble) helped him along his path to becoming evil.
As the 'Black Emperor' Jet utilised the 'Dark Kaiser' a mecha so large it towered over earth and was near equal to the sun in size. It could fire salvos of Lasers and missiles , create shock waves by pounding on the sun , imprison the Mega Mech Six-Six within Saturn's rings , manipulate Jupiter's gravity in the form of red orbs and finally create fire dragons.
[edit] Silvia
Sexy Silvia is the title character's girlfriend in Capcom's popular sleeper-hit, Viewtiful Joe. She doesn't appear to have a last name as of now, though some fans speculate it to be Blue, as her father's name is Capt. Blue, or, when not in costume, is referred to as Blue. However, it could also be his first name. She is voiced by Christina Puccelli in the games, and by Philece Sampler (credited as "Jessie Green") in the English anime.
In the first game, she and Joe were on a date at Joe's father's movie theater (revealed in the second game), specifically to see a rather old Henshin flick about Joe's hero, Capt. Blue. According to her, this had been the first date they had been on in at least a few weeks, and she was rather disappointed. After an attempt to get some romance going on towards the end of the movie, she winds up making Joe, according to him, miss the really, really good part, when Capt. Blue is defeated. Silvia then says she vaguely recognizes Blue, only to be grabbed by the villain, a leader of the evil organisation called Jadow, into the movie.
Later, at the fight with Fire Leo, Silvia is in a cage in the center, complaining that Joe was so busy showing off he almost completely forgot about her. After the fight, however, The Villain takes her away to the final level. At the last boss, the villain is revealed to be none other than Capt. Blue himself, and also Silvia's father. Silvia says this is impossible, because her mother, Ivory, always told her that he was dead. A fight for Silvia takes place between Joe and him, as Capt. Blue needs her to take over the real world, but after the fight Capt. Blue tells the tale of his rising to fame and falling into depression and being sucked into the movie, only to be corrupted with his super hero powers.
Silvia hugs him and an audience is heard clapping only to be interrupted by an alarm, saying an alien invasion is approaching. Just as Joe's about to leave, Silvia ask her father for a V-watch, which would give her powers like Joe, which he does, and she and Joe jump up into the credits.
Silvia has her own story in the game as well. It is nearly identical to Joe's, but she has to save her twin sister, Goldie, instead, and some of the dialogue is different. It turns out this time that her father was going to try to sacrifice Goldie so that he and Silvia would become more powerful. The ending is the same, also, with both sisters getting V-watches, and both girls' costumes are identical, but Goldie has a different visor than Silvia.
Viewtiful Joe 2 takes place immediately after the ending of Viewtiful Joe, with Silvia and Joe going down to Earth to protect it from the evil Gedow, only for both of them to be transported to a jungle and for Cpt. Blue to be turned into a rainbow oscar, an object of great power in movieworld. She and Joe set out again to stop Gedow, find the rainbow oscars, and save her father. This time, however, she is a main character (in fact, the original title of the game was Viewtiful Joe 2: Silvia's Revenge). She has quite the mouth and attitude in this game, which is what causes most of the boss fights.
Also in this game, we are introduced to Joe's father, Jet Black, who Silvia calls "Uncle Jet". He and Blue used to be partners, Jet owned and operated the theater while Blue made movies. Unfortunately, Jet turns out to be the leader of Gedow and uses the rainbow oscars to become the ultimate hero. She and Joe defeat him anyway.
In Red Hot Rumble, she is one of the actors fighter for the role of Blue's successor and a Fast-Projectile fighter. She was also the players' main rival in the Truth About the Black Film story.
In this game, Silvia and Joe have lost their ability to transform in the real world, despite the fact they could at the end of Viewtiful Joe 2 thanks to the enthusiasm of the movie award audience. As a result, Silvia has to operate the V-cam, which allows Joe to be transformed as long as he is being filmed by it.
Silvia is blonde with hazel eyes, and wears glasses. In the first game, she wears an aqua blue jacket/skirt with six white buttons and a silver belt with dark stockings and black high-heeled shoes. Her Henshin costume is the same color as her dress, with a helmet with a purple visor and instead of a cape, she has a long, blonde ponytail. She wears the same stockings with knee-high white boots and white elbow long gloves (the gloves are not present in the first game), with a sleavless bodysuit with a rather short skirt and belt. In the second game, she wears a pink skirt with a black belt, and a white scarf, fingerless gloves, and knee-high boots for her normal outfit, but her super hero costume is the same. This her look in all subsequent games.
[edit] Viewtiful Joe
Viewtiful Joe is the main character in the game series Viewtiful Joe by Capcom. He is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker in the games, and by Jason Palmer in the animated series.
Joe is a movie fanatic who holds Captain Blue as the greatest superhero of all time. One day he is watching a Captain Blue movie with his girlfriend Silvia. Silvia wants to fool around but Joe is only interested in the movie. In the movie Captain Blue (Piloting the Six Majin) is defeated by a shadowy figure later revealed to be King Blue (the omnipotent form of Captain Blue) who then pulls Silvia into the movie. The Six Majin then attempts to stop King Blue only to be punched through the screen. Six Majin takes Joe with it back into the movie.
When Joe gets there he is confronted by Captain Blue who gives him a V-Watch. This allows him to transform into his alter ego Viewtiful Joe whenever Joe says the word 'henshin'. It is not explained why Blue helps Joe since he is the main villain of the story. After that, he sets out on his quest to find Silvia with little worry, and doesn't seem to really care what happens to her (however, he does show he cares about her later in the game). Joe seems to be a goofy show-off, and Joe is sometimes a cowardly as seen many times in the series, but he does have a strong sense of justice.
