[edit] Disputed and unclassified genera
The placement of the following genera within subfamilies is presently disputed within the zoology community, or is pending further research.
- Aenigmarachne Schmidt, 2005. A recently-described genus, no placement into a subfamily recorded in the literature.
- Brachionopus Pocock, 1897. Dollar has recently propsed transferring this genus to the family Barychelidae; a proposal which is still disputed. [1].
- Cardiopelma Vol, 1999. A genus described by Fabian Vol in 1999, but which has little record in the scientific literature; often placed in subfamily Theraphosinae.
- Proshapalopus Mello-Leitão, 1923. This has been placed in several different subfamilies by several different arachnologists.
