[edit] Writing Staff

Many of the writers/producers on The Sopranos have written for television prior to the series. Writing team Robin Green & Mitchell Burgess worked with creator, David Chase before on Northern Exposure and The Rockford Files. Cast member, Michael Imperioli joined the writing staff in Season 2 contributing five episodes to the series as of Season 5. Toni Kalem (Angie Bonpensiero) wrote the Season 5 episode ("All Happy Families...").

Robin Green & Mitchell Burgess who have written a majority of the series' episodes announced they would not be returning on the writing staff for Season 6 (they would write at least one episode, "Live Free or Die", the sixth episode of the season) when they will be devoting much time to creating their own project for HBO. To replace them, David Chase has brought on two new writers, Diane Frolov & Andrew Schneider, who are also former writers for Northern Exposure.
