The following is a list of episodes from the NBC television series, The Office. The series is an American adaptation of the British series The Office.

The series began on March 24, 2005 and finished its second season on May 11, 2006. The third season began airing on September 21, 2006 in a new time slot at 8:30 EST on Thursdays. As of March 27, 2007, 45 episodes of The Office have aired. Currently, the first two seasons are available on DVD.

The list is ordered by the episodes' original air dates. Production code numbers detailing the order in which episodes were filmed are taken from NBC's official episode guide.

The first season of The Office had only six episodes, but introduced the audience to the vast array of characters that would be developed later..

[edit] Season 2 (September 2005–May 2006)

For the second season NBC initially ordered only six episodes, then in September ordered seven more episodes [1]. Later, November 3, NBC ordered an additional three episodes [2], and then by November 7 they had ordered a full season of 22 episodes [3].

For the first half of the season, The Office aired on Tuesday nights at 9:30 EST, following My Name Is Earl. Starting on January 5, 2006, however, both programs moved to Thursday nights in the same time slot, where they remained until the end of the season.

After the annual staff Dundies awards is redlined by Corporate, Michael is uncertain if he can produce the caliber of evening his staff have come to expect. Pam develops second thoughts about her engagement to Roy while watching video footage of old Dundies award nights.

Michael fears that a new Corporate crackdown on sexual harassment will dampen his reputation as the office "forward king", as his best friend Todd Packer visits the office. Michael is desperate to find a new killer joke that will make everyone regret the new policies while Dwight attempts to create his own email forwarding glory.

While Michael and Dwight are out of the office for the day trying to close a deal on a new condo for Michael, Jim and Pam arrange for the staff to participate in an "Office Olympics," where the workers play strange, invented games (among them, Dunderball, Hate Ball, and Flonkerton) that they usually play while the boss is out. At the end of the day, the festivities cheer up everyone - even the oblivious Michael.

The office is forced into the parking lot for the day when a fire starts in the kitchen. To ease everyone's boredom, Jim suggests a game of "Desert Island" and "Who Would You Do?," where certain staff members reveal a little too much information about themselves. Throughout the day, Michael talks business with Ryan, leaving Dwight feeling left out.

While everyone else in the office enjoys the spooky Halloween festivities and talks about the staff's costumes, Michael ponders whom he should fire when the threat of downsizing becomes a reality and his boss orders him to fire one of his staff. Jim and Pam put Dwight's resume on job-searching websites, which may make Michael's job a little easier, and Pam encourages Jim to set his goals higher by applying for a better job, which makes Jim consider his friendship with Pam.

When Dwight embarrasses Michael by punching him in the stomach at work, Jim organizes a lunchtime rematch at Dwight’s Dojo. Pam becomes embarrassed when some coworkers see Jim getting a little too physical with her, Ryan updates the emergency contact information on a “secret mission,” and Michael annoys Ryan after he gets a hold of Ryan’s cell phone number.

When Michael and Jan try to nail down a potential new client, Christian, by taking him out to Chili's, Michael surprises everyone with what - or who - he does. Pam finds a semi-autobiographical script that Michael has written called Threat Level: Midnight, and she and Jim invite Phyllis, Kevin, and the rest of the Dunder-Mifflin workers to act it out.

However, Michael focuses more on getting feedback about his relationship with Jan than whether or not the workers are doing their job. Jim decides to take a trip out of town, but has trouble deciding on his destination.

The warehouse is converted into a casino for a charity casino night and Michael accidentally winds up with two dates (Carol and Jan). Jim considers transferring to the Stamford branch as his secret crush with Pam finally comes to a head.

[edit] Webisodes: The Accountants (July-September 2006)

NBC announced on March 16, 2006 that there would be ten original, stand-alone Webisode shorts on NBC.com starting in July 2006. They first debuted on NBC.com on July 13 and concluded on September 7. Major characters Michael, Jim, Pam, and Ryan do not appear in these episodes. Instead, the focus is on the three members of the accounting department: Oscar, Angela and Kevin, as they try to find $3000 missing from the office budget. Oscar, Angela, and Kevin appear in each Webisode.

"The Accountants" webisodes were directed by Randall Einhorn and written by Michael Schur and Paul Lieberstein. It took two days to film them [4]. They were edited by Michael Zurer, an assistant editor on the series.

For its third season The Office moved to a new time slot at 8:30 PM (Eastern/Pacific), making it one hour earlier than the previous season time slot at 9:30 PM. [5]

Season 3 will feature 23 episodes, including two hour-long editions, and guest directors such as J.J. Abrams (creator of ABC hit series, Alias and Lost), Joss Whedon (creator of Firefly on Fox) and Harold Ramis.
