List of Star Wars support craft
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The following is a list of fictional Star Wars assault gunboats, dropships, shuttles, space transports, and other support spaceships.
[edit] Banking Clan Transport
The Banking Clan Transport is a rocket-shaped ship that ferried personnel and equipment to systems which the Intergalactic Banking Clan had business dealings with, including Geonosis. Here, these ships were among the first to take off and flee the ongoing battle.
These ships are commonplace in many recent Star Wars flight simulators, though the player does not have to destroy them in some games. In the game Clone Wars there are many times when to complete a bonus objective the player must destroy a certain number of them.
This ship is also known as the Techno Union starship. Not to be confused with the trade federation starship, a spherical craft.
[edit] Commerce Guild Transport
The Commerce Guild Transport was a large transport vessel used by the Commerce Guild. It was also used to transport the Guild's customers and employees across the Star Wars galaxy, control its mines and territories and to deploy the large Homing spider droids and Dwarf spider droids into combat. Though the Commerce Guild Transport had a small weapons array, they were useless against large scale attacks. During the Battle of Geonosis, many of these transport vessels were present in Geonosis but did not participate in defending Geonosis from the Republic forces since the Commerce Guild presidente Shu Mai had ordered her ships to load up as much as they could salvage and flee into space. These vessels also participated in the Clone Wars and were used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Shu Mai travelled on a Commerce Guild Transport to and from Geonosis.
[edit] CR-20 Troop Carrier
The CR-20 Troop Carrier was a transport ship used to deploy small units of clone troopers when the large Acclamator-class Assault Ships were not needed. It was originally designed by the Corellian Engineering Corporation for its security forces. The Republic purchased these craft one month after the Battle of Geonosis. The CR-20 is 60 metres in length and wields two double turbolaser cannons. At full capacity the CR-20 can carry 40 clone troopers, 12 Speeder bikes, and 4 AT-PTs. The carrier's required crew consists of two pilots, one communications officer, and three engineers.
A CR-20 was dispatched by General Obi-Wan Kenobi to follow his Padawan Anakin Skywalker, who had given chase to Asajj Ventress. The ship and its troopers were all destroyed by Ventress soon after they caught up with Skywalker.
[edit] CR-25 Heavy Troop Carrier
The CR-25 Heavy Troop Carrier, as its name dictates, is used for transporting larger numbers of troopers and cargo than the smaller CR-20. The clone troopers especially favored it as it could carry 4 LAAT/is and other heavy weapons systems.
[edit] Dartship
Dartships are not so much ships as they are guided missiles. These ships are explosive, gas-propelled, primitive yet space-capable rockets. Due to the Killik's lack of care for self-preservation, these were made, as kamikaze ships, to explode on impact while being piloted into the enemy ship. These ships are flown in the hundreds or even millions depending on the battle.
During the Battle of Kr, the Killiks released the Great Swarm, a gargantuant fleet of dartships, to combat the Chiss. On the other hand, during small defences, a few hundred to several dozen were all that were released.
[edit] D'kee-class Landing Ship
The D'kee-class Landing Ship was used by the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium during its invasion of Bakura in the Expanded Universe novel The Truce at Bakura. They are used to transport troops to immobilized enemy targets or into dropzones. It is also equipped with paralysis canisters which are dropped over a major population area from 3,000 metres above. They can cover an area of nearly 9 square kilometres thus crushing most resistance.
[edit] Firespray-class ship
The Firespray class patrol and attack ship was designed by Kuat Systems Engineering for use by the Oovo IV Security Forces. Several prototypes were constructed, however all but one were destroyed when Jango Fett staged a prison break. Jango kept the sole remaining Firespray, renaming it Slave I. Kuat Systems Engineering, suffering from the financial loss of the prototypes, mothballed the project, and concentrated instead on starship upgrades.
Many years later, K.S.E. found themselves on a more secure financial footing, and again desired to enter the starship market. To this end the company has re-introduced the Firespray class, hoping to build upon the reputation of the remaining prototype and its legendary pilot Boba Fett.
The new Firespray is, like the prototype, designated as a patrol and attack ship and perfectly suited for law enforcement and interdiction missions. With Kuat Systems Engineering keen to expand the market for the ship, they have started to promote how easily the ship can be customized and upgraded to fulfill a myriad of roles.
The stock ship is well-armed and armored for its size, with on-board stowage space and room for several passengers and/or cargo. Roughly as fast as Koensayr's classic Y-wing fighter-bomber, the ship has more than enough speed and maneuverability to intercept smugglers, outlaws, renegades or whom-ever.

G-Wing light shuttles are small armed transports used during the Jedi Civil War and Sith Civil War. Bastila Shan used one of these to travel to the Star Forge after her duel with Revan and his allies on Rakata Prime. Canderous Ordo possessed one of these: the Jedi Exile, Mandalore and another character (decided by The Exile) use the ship to travel to Iziz on Onderon to find Dhagon Ghent. The shuttle appears in the Star Wars, Knights of the Old Republic I and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords video games. This was one of only two ships that the Mandalorians possessed during Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. The Mandalorians usually used this shuttle to travel to Iziz for information and supplies.
[edit] GR-75 Medium Transport
The GR-75 Medium Transport, also known as the Galloway Transport, is a transport used by the Rebels to transport supplies, equipment and troops. Some have been modified to be fuel tankers for long-range fighter missions or for smaller ships. The usual supply cargos carried by these transports are food, medical supplies, spare parts, weapons and raw materials.
Most GR-75s tend to be at the centre of Rebel Fleet formations, and rely on starfighter support when in combat areas. Some of these vessels have been converted to more offensive purposes, like Armed Merchant Cruisers and kamikaze-style Fire ships.
The transport's outer hull is like a thick shell with the interior entirely open for cargo pods. Modular Cargo Pods greatly speed up loading and unloading procedures. When the transport is at its cargo capacity, a magnetic shield locks the modules in place, while at the same time keeps out the vacuum of space. The command pod is located on the upper hull, near the main engines, and carries the crew in cramped conditions.
GR-75s were seen in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. A similar ship was seen in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. This was a GR-45 Medium Transport, which was smaller than the 75-model and had differently arranged engines.
GR-75s are built by the company Gallofree Yards, Inc.[1]
[edit] Imperial Dungeon Ship
Imperial Dungeon Ship was the term given to describe the ships manufactured by Rendili StarDrive for the Galactic Empire, who used them to transport captured Jedi Knights during the height of the Jedi Purge.
[edit] Jad'thu Assault Shuttle
The Jad'thu assault shuttle is a light attack shuttle. Like the CR-20 and the CR-25, it is used for other purposes that were modified. It can only carry 60 troopers but it's useful.
This shuttle is a former luxury shuttle. It is seen in the Expanded Universe book Shatter Point. Its armament is one flak gun shooting out durasteel shards for protectional purposes. In the book it was very useful against ground forces; it also has one turbolaser for anti-fighter purposes.
[edit] Lambda-class shuttle
[edit] Medium Transport-class Assault Transport
[edit] Mobquet Medium Cargo Hauler
The Mobquet Transport consists of three interconected sections (one cylindrical at the bow, two cuboid to the stern). It features in several Expanded Universe novels and in the X-Wing computer game series. A ship of this class made cameo appearances in Joss Whedon's TV series Firefly, during the episodes "Shindig" and "War Stories".
[edit] Neimodian Transport
Neimodian Transport is a fictional ship seen in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
The Sheathipede-class Lapiz Cutter Shuttle is a craft used by higher officials in the Trade Federation to visit potential clients and marketplaces. They are shaped like giant beetle-like insects and their landing-legs can only settle down on hard surfaces. This is due to the businessmen's distaste for dealing with poor, underdeveloped worlds.
When the Battle of Geonosis appeared to go in favor of the Republic, Neimodian representatives Nute Gunray and Gilramos Libkath took off in one of these craft.
[edit] Nubian W-Type Armed Transport
the Nubian W Type Armed Transport is a transport spaceship. As the galaxy started toward the civil war, the planet Nubia built the Nubian W Type Armed Transport as a last effort to retain a hold on the luxury ship market.
With all the assassination attempts on senators and officials, the W type was made to fill the role of more heavily armed and shielded vessels. It remains a ship from a bygone era, with luxurious fittings, and a generous cargo hold for a personal transport ship -- the few that remain are customized to protect their owners, and some have been stripped of their luxury and made into mere cargo vessels.
Also seen at the beginning of Attack of the Clones where one of these vessels is destroyed on the landing pad. It was thought to be carrying Padme Amidala, but she was instead in an accompanying Naboo N-1 Starfighter.
[edit] Nubian Y-Type Shuttle
The Nubian Y Type Shuttle is a luxury shuttle. The luxurious diplomatic transports and yachts of the Old Republic era gave way to armed frigates and corvettes. The shipyards of the planet Nubia, long into the fast losing department of transports, made a last attempt to attempt selling their luxury vehicles. The Nubian Y type shuttle was designed cleverly to suit their, and the Republic's, needs and desires. It was used to transport diplomats from their armed frigates and such to the planet, allowing them to travel in luxury without the loss of protection. Unfortunately, it did not sell as well as expected, forcing production to stop. However, it continues to be retained by a few worlds who want the image of a ship only a Nubian can project.
[edit] Republic assault gunboat
The Republic assault gunboat is a high-altitude transport vehicle built by Mekkun. It is launched from low orbit and is capable of entering the atmosphere, burning through its high-energy shielding system as it sheds off reentry heat. Once it reaches a low enough altitude, the repulsor lifts activate, allowing it impressive flight capability. Its drawback is that once completing this landing process, it cannot return to orbit. They were used in episode three when the Utapau liberation force turned into an occupation force.
It has a high-tech targeting system that quickly maps out a planet's topography to help the ship land. It also serves in reconnaissance and search missions, which the HAET-221 can perform at varying heights — from lofty flight ceilings of several kilometers to a more common cruising height of just a few meters. It is armed with a few antipersonnel blasters and a main anti-vehicle turret.
[edit] Sentinel-class landing craft
[edit] Skipray Blastboat
[edit] Tartan-class Patrol Cruiser
Imperial Star Destroyers were often vulnerable to fighters and bombers because its turbolasers did not have the sufficient tracking capability to target the small, fast-moving foes, so Imperial engineers designed the Tartan Patrol Cruiser. It is a corvette designed to engage small, fast-moving targets. Using powerful tracking computers it is able to destroy most starfighters before they are able to take down vulnerable Star Destroyers. It is highly effective as an escort for Star Destroyers and in the game Star Wars: Empire at War it is a buildable unit.
[edit] Theta-class Shuttle
The Theta-class shuttle was a standard light utility aerospacecraft in use throughout the Republic to transport senators, the predecessor of the Lambda-class shuttle, it was built and designed by Cygnus Spaceworks, after the rise of the Empire, many Cygnus designers defected to Sienar Fleet Systems with promise of a larger pay, taking the original designs with them.
Used in the final days of the Galactic Republic, the Theta-class had a rounded cockpit, two main wings hanging to each side of the taller, long fuselage and a short blade-shaped wing at the top of the craft. The main wings folded up when the craft prepared for landing, to make it smaller and make landing easier.
This vessel carried Emperor Palpatine and the charred remains of Darth Vader back to the planet Coruscant after his duel on Mustafar with his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The Galactic Empire also made use of the Theta-shuttles, mainly in space battles. They were used as boarding crafts. However, the design evolved into the Imperial Lambda-class Shuttle, and was largely put out of use.
[edit] Trade Federation C-9979 Landing Craft
The C-9979 Landing Craft is a transport vehicle from the fictional Star Wars trilogy. It was built by Haor Chall Engineering. The landing craft first appeared in the Phantom Menace when the Trade Federation used it to deploy its droid army on Naboo.
In the Clone Wars, it was used to transport troops and equipment from orbiting battleships down to countless battlefields.
It has four wing-like platforms, each of which carries parts of its payload. It can carry up to 11 MTTs, 114 AATs, as well as hundreds of Troop Carriers. Its wingspan is 370 metres. Its crew is made up of 88 battle droids. It carries many guns, including 2 pairs of wing-tip laser cannons and 4 turret mounted cannons. They appear in the video games Star Wars: Starfighter and Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter. In Jedi Starfighter, the Dropship was capable of deploying Droid Fighters and Scarab Heavy Fighters.
[edit] Walker Dropship
The Walker Dropship or Y-85 Titan was a vehicle used to deploy AT-ATs and AT-STs onto planetary surfaces. It was manufactured by Incom Corporation, the same company which manufactured the ARC-170 starfighters, Z-95 Headhunters, and X-wing starfighters. It features a standard cockpit module and can accommodate four AT-ATs in addition to four AT-STs. The AT-ATs could stand at full height within the Y-85, allowing them to move immediately into combat once deployed by the dropship.
The Walker Dropship is available only on larger Imperial ships such as the Executor, Eclipse, and Sovereign-class Star Dreadnaughts, whereas Imperial-class Star Destroyers and other smaller ships make use of smaller walker barges. It also had two forward twin laser cannons for defense. The Walker Dropship can also be used to deploy AT-AT Swimmers and TIE Fighter Boats straight into any body of water.
Though it was never seen in The Empire Strikes Back, the Y-85 is credited with having delivered walkers to the Hoth surface before the assault on Echo Base, according to the Inside the Worlds of The Original Trilogy factbook.
- AT Barge
This dropship was similar in shape to the Y-85, but smaller and dark blue in color. It could carry only two AT-ATs. The AT Barge was small enough to be carried in any Imperial warship capable of fielding AT-ATs. Unlike in the Y-85, AT-ATs had to kneel into a prone position to fit in the AT Barge, which meant they took a few seconds to rise back into combat position after being deployed by the barge.
