The Prince of Tennis (テニスの王子様 Tennis no Ōjisama?) is the title of the anime series originally authored by Takeshi Konomi. This page is about the episodes titles of Japan.

Episode 1-10: Intraschool Ranking Arc I

Ryoma Echizen moves to Japan after having success at tennis in the US(winning four consecutive American Junior Openings). He 'saves' Sakuno Ryuzaki from upperclassmen without realizing it. He then puts one of the older boys named Sasabe in his place with a tennis match. 
New Challenger- Momoshiro Takeshi "Samurai Jr." October 17, 2001 2
Ryoma beats two juniors who are picking on the freshman. He then plays tennis with Takeshi Momoshiro. Momoshiro plays with a bad ankle, while Ryoma plays with his off hand. They quit playing before either wins. Sakuno's friend Tomoka is introduced. 
The Seigaku Regulars. "The Seigaku Regular Members Have Arrived" October 24, 2001 3
The Seigaku Regulars are introduced. Reporter Mamoru Inoue and photographer Saori Shiba take an interest in Ryoma. Ryoma defeats 2nd year non-regular Arai using an old broken tennis racket. The captain of the tennis team, Tezuka, enters Ryoma's name on the intraschool ranking matches roster despite the fact that he is a freshman (and therefore technically not allowed to participate). 
Kaoru Kaidoh. "The Man Known as a Viper" October 31, 2001 4
Ryoma and the Seigaku Regulars win all their matches as the coming year's regulars are chosen through the intraschool ranking matches. In the third round, the regular Kaoru Kaidoh is Ryoma's opponent. Kaidoh uses his special move, the Snake, while Ryoma switches to his good hand. 
Kaoru Kaidoh is beaten. "Snake Shot" November 7, 2001 5
Kaidoh uses his snake shot to wear off Ryoma's stamina, but instead Ryoma wins the game using a clever plan to turn the tables on him, making Kaidoh the tired victim instead. 
Sumire Ryuzaki. "That Man, Nanjiroh Echizen..." November 14, 2001 6
Inoue plays a match with the former "Samurai Nanjirou" to get answers about why he retired, just to find out that he now focuses on developing Ryoma, meanwhile Sakuno looks for Ryoma to learn more about him and tennis. 
Sadaharu Inui. "Two Ryomas" November 21, 2001 7
Inui Sadaharu is Ryoma's next opponent. He uses data tennis to counter Ryoma's play style. It seems like an easy win for Inui, but Ryoma refuses to give up. 
Ryoma uses his new technique. "Split Step" November 28, 2001 8
Ryoma uses a new technique, a variation of the Split Step that makes him fast enough to return Inui's calculated shots. This, along with the Twist Serve, turns the game into Ryoma's favor. 
Inui's special vegetable juice. "The Hard Day" December 5, 2001 9
Ryoma finally defeats Inui, and in doing so becomes a regular. Inui's next opponent is Kaidoh, who also surpasses Inui's data and takes a spot in the regulars as well. Ryuzaki-sensei asks Inui to help in the regulars training anyway; he does so by introducing his special, dreaded vegetable juice, which he dubs "Inui Juice". 
"Counter Attack! Sasabe Once Again" December 12, 2001 10
Ryoma and the rest of the first years go to where Kachiro's father works as tennis coach just to find trouble with Sasabe junior again, but now it's Sasabe senior's turn to learn a lesson from Ryoma. 
Episode 11-21: Vs. Fudomine Arc

Ryoma and Momoshiro both realize that they want to play Singles Three in the upcoming Gyokurin match. But when beaten by two cocky Gyokurin doubles players on a street court, the two decide that "real men play doubles." 
"The Two AH-UN Boys" December 26, 2001 12
Momo and Ryoma volunteer to play in doubles 2 and they also develop a tactic to improve their playing coordination. Their rivals use the Double Net strategy taking advantage of Momo and Ryoma's lack of coordination and turn the game into their favor. 
"Men Play Doubles" January 9, 2002 13
Ryoma and Momoshiro agree to split the court in half, so they only each have to defend one half of the court. It is a strange but effective strategy that rescues the game but doesn't save the Seigaku pair from a punishment, even when they win the match. 
"The Swallow Return" January 16, 2002 14
Fudomine, an unknown team that withdrew from last tournament for internal affairs, is Seigaku's next rival. In the first game Fuji and Kawamura find themselves struggling against the first Fudomine pair; forcing Fuji to use the Tsubame Gaeshi, one of his special techniques. 
Ishida. "Their Respective Fights" January 23, 2002 15
Ishida tries a desperate measure to seal Fuji's Tsubame Gaeshi by using a hit of considerable strength called Hadoukyouu aimed straight at Fuji. Kawamura gets in the way and hurts his wrist returning the Hadoukyouu, forcing Seigaku to forfeit the match. 
Akira Kamio. "Boomerang Snake" January 30, 2002 16
The Golden Pair wins their doubles match easily thanks to Kikumaru's acrobatics, it's now the time for the game between Kaidoh and Kamio. Kaoru's snake shot turned out to be ineffective against the speed ace from Fudomine, but in a moment of desperation Kaidoh perform an amazing yet impossible shot, that the audience called the Boomerang Snake
Ann Tachibana. "The Small Winning Pose" February 6, 2002 17
Kamio and Kaidoh's game becomes an endurance match but in the end Kaidoh's willpower outlast Kamio's stamina. Also Momo learns the identity of the girl he has been running into, who turns out to be Fudomine's player-coach Tachibana's younger sister Ann. 
Echizen in his younger days. "Love Letter" February 13, 2002 18
Nanjiro Echizen finds a letter from Ryuzaki-sensei and remembers his days as a Seigaku regular, meanwhile the game heats up between Ryoma's Twist Serve and Ibu's Kick Serve, which is very similar to Ryoma's. 
Ryoma injures his eye. "Ryoma is Injured" February 20, 2002 19
Ryoma struggles to resist Ibu's "Spot" but he only injures his eye trying. With his eyelid bleeding it seems impossible for him to continue. Nevertheless he insist on continuing the match. 
Celebrating at Kawamura's sushi restaurant. "Time Limit" February 27, 2002 20
Tezuka gives Echizen 10 minutes to finish the game, after which he will forfeit the match. Ryoma manages to overcome Ibu's "spot" and wins the match in less than 10 minutes. After tending to Echizen's wounds, the Seigaku regulars celebrated in Kawamura's sushi restaurant. 
The spies. "Is the Tennis Court Heating Up ?" March 6, 2002 21
Spies from other schools begin to observe Seigaku's training, and Momo and Ryoma teach two of the spies that playing tennis can be just as fun.

Kaoru and Oishi are forced to drink Inui's special vegetable juice for losing in a special training match and become really sick. Tezuka drinks all of Inui's juice by mistake, so Inui is now forced to use his Deluxe Juice on the loser in the Kikumaru-Ryoma match.

Ryoma is asked by Coach Ryuzaki to go to the racket-stringer with Ryuzaki Sakuno; Nanjiroh, Momoshiro, and the freshman trio spy on the supposed "date." 
"The Strongest Man in Seigaku Part 1" April 10, 2002 25
Captain Tezuka risks his own health to challenge Ryoma to a match. He feels Ryoma's tennis is a copy of his father's game and wants Ryoma to aim higher.

When Ryoma oversleeps before the match, Horio is forced to impersonate Ryoma, but he gets more than he bargains for when another player hears him bragging. Mizuki, the player-manager of St Rudolph, is introduced when he tells Akiyama, Seigaku's opponent, to target the Seigaku players' weak spots.

Momoshiro and Kaidoh are paired up to play Doubles 2 against St Rudolph even though the two are rivals. Ironically, however, they are compatible to each other since they know each other's strengths and weaknesses. 
"Mizuki's Scenario" May 8, 2002 30
Momoshiro and Kaidoh struggle as the opponents know their strengths and weaknesses too well. However, the last ditch appearance of the Boomerang Snake throws Mizuki's carefully laid plans in disarray.

Momoshiro knocks out the St. Rudolph player Yanagisawa when his Dunk Smash hits the player by accident. Seigaku wins Doubles 2 by default. The Golden Pair takes to the courts against Kaneda and Akazawa. 
"Super Move! Eiji's "Pretend to Sleep" Attack!" May 22, 2002 32
Eiji runs out of energy, while Oishi covers for him. Eiji recovers and is seemingly about to overwhelm St. Rudolph, but he falters in the end.

Seigaku and St. Rudolph's Doubles 1 go into a tiebreak to determine the winner. 
"Twist Spin Shot" June 5, 2002 34
Ryoma faces Yuuta Fuji, Syuusuke Fuji's younger brother. He quickly runs into trouble due to the Twist Spin shot of his opponent. 
"Drive B" June 12, 2002 35
Ryoma unveils his new move, Drive B, to counter the Twist Spin Shot. He also tells Yuuta not to use his Twist Spin shot anymore. The ruthlessness of Mizuki is revealed as he was shown to be the one who taught Yuuta the dangerous move knowingly. 
"Fuji Syusuke, Big Brother" June 19, 2002 36
Fuji teaches Mizuki a lesson about tennis on the courts, and Fudomine unexpectedly defeats Hyotei Gakuen 3-0. 

Episode 37-40: Training Arc

After a grueling training, Ryoma and Fuji (among other players) face off. Fuji shows the second of the three Counterattacks, the Higuma Otoshi (Bear Drop), which counters Ryoma's Smashes.

The duel between Fuji and Ryoma is cut short when Ryuzaki stops them due to the rain.

Akutsu and Ryoma battle on the court. Ryoma is easily overwhelmed and Akutsu tells Ryoma that he will not get another point.

Ryoma bravely fights against Akutsu.

Banji gives Akutsu some advice and he takes it.

Ryoma wins the match, and also wins Akutsu's grudging respect. Akutsu announces his retirement from tennis, and the identity of Kawamura's "girlfriend" (first shown in Episode 38) is revealed.

Tezuka uses the Tezuka Zone to defeat Inui. Momo temporarily leaves the team, causing anxiety within the whole team. Oishi and Eiji argue over Eiji's "insensitive remarks", causing a division in the Golden Pair.

Momoshiro recovers his spirit after a match with Ann Tachibana and an encounter with the Hyotei Gakuen regulars. The Golden Pair makes up.

Neither Inui or Kaidoh can react fast enough to Ootari's Scud Serve. Atobe reflects back on how hard Shishido and Ootari trained for this.

Inui reveals that he only needs data on Tezuka and Fuji because he has completed all the others. It's revealed how Inui got into his tennis style-data tennis. Inui and Kaidoh finally make a comeback with Inui completing his data gathering of the opponents.

Episode 79-85: Vs. Jyousei Shonan Arc (last part)

Kaidoh continues to struggle against Wakato's changover technique. Until he notices the key to Wakato's playstyle. 
"Hanamura's Temptation" 82
The Kaidoh/Wakato match goes to a tiebreak, And Kaidoh must overcome his fiercist opponent. Himself. 
"The Best Masterpiece" 83
Singles 2 between Ryoma Echizen and Reiji Shinjou commences, with Ryoma seemingly heading for an easy victory until Shinjou introduces his Mirage technique. 
"Deep Impulse" 84
Reiji Shijou's old aggresive Tennis style is revealed, which was sealed by Hanamura-sensei because it injuried the opponent, making it want to leave Tennis. 
"The Result of the Deadly Duel" 85
Echizen overcomes the deadly power of Deep Impulse, and wins the game. The team celebrates at Kawamura Sushi. 

Episode 86-90: Recreation Arc

The Seigaku team goes bowling, everyone (even Fuji and Inui himself) is knocked out by Inui Juice, followed by a short chibi story where Inui loses his glasses.

Dan Taiichi of Yamabuki arrives at Seigaku and challenges Ryoma to a match. 
"Cheap Housing Beach Volleyball" 90
The Seigaku team goes to the beach. Sasabe and father turns up for a beach volleyball challenge against Ryoma and Kaidoh. 


Episode 91-97: Vs. Rokkaku Arc

A boy with a long racket(Davide) and his pair(Kurabane) will have a match against Momoshiro and Kawamura in doubles. 
"Dash Hadoukyuu" 93
Kawamura developed a new technique that knocked out the rackets of their opponent. Their opponent was surprised and worried about Kawamura's Dash Hadoukyuu only to find out that Kawamura can only use Dash Hadoukyuu once per game because it will destroy his wrist 
"The Secret Plan to Seal Kikumaru" 94
Kikumaru's acrobatic play was sealed by Saeki Kojirou of Rokkaku until he revealed his Seal Step but his stamina was drained easily. 
"Tsubame Gaeshi, Broken" 95
Fuji's Tsubame Gaeshi became useless because Itsuki Marehiko of Rokkaku can hit a Sinker, ball with no spin. Until Fuji, being a genius, made Itsuki Marehiko hit a cord ball thus creating a spin and Fuji was able to use Tsubame Gaeshi again. 
"Ryoma, Get Pumped" 96
Ryoma fought with Kentarou Aoi in a game that was to be continued until the next day because it was already sunset. It was almost 3 hours but they are still not finished with the game. 
"Finishing Smash" 97
Ryoma finally won the match against Kentarou Aoi.

Episode 98-115: Getting Ready for Rikkaidai Arc

In the absence of Tezuka, a tense Oishi puts the team through its paces. 
"Eat Rikkaidai" 101
Lunch at Kawamura's sushi place; the team watches Fudomine's defeat by Rikkaidai and vows to win. 
"Mizuki's Whispers" 102
Momoshiro and Kaidoh get tricked into playing a doubles match with Mizuki from St. Rudolph and Kajimoto from Jyosei Shonan
"Sleepless Night" 103
The night before the big match with Rikkaidai, the Seigaku players realize where they should really be. 
"Ryoma vs Sanada" 104
The match with Rikkaidai is suspended for a week due to the rain; nonetheless, Ryoma challenges Genichirou Sanada of Rikkaidai to a match. 
"Ryoma Utterly Beaten" 105
Ryoma loses completely to Sanada; afterwards, his performance in training suffers. Akutsu teaches him a lesson. 
"Let's Go Camping!" 106
The Seigaku team goes on a training trip. Meanwhile Inoue checks on Seigaku's next opponent, Rikkai Daigaku Fuzoku (Rikkaidai). 
"The Captain Appears!" 107
Yamato Yuudai, the previous Captain of Seigaku, shows up for the training camp. He teaches a skeptical Ryoma some valuable lessons about tennis. 
"Surprise at Camp" 108
A "bear" intrudes upon the training camp; it is up to the players to get rid of it and save the hostages inside the camp. 
"Tennis Biathalon" 109
A special training session awaits. 
"Jump, Kabaji!" 110
The Hyotei Gakuen tennis team shows up for an intensive session with Seigaku. Kikumaru faces off with the genius copycat player Kabaji Munehiro, while Inui faces Hiyoshi Wakashi. Kikumaru eventually wins as Kabaji tires, unable to sustain the copying of Kikumaru's acrobatic play.

The genius players, Yuushi Oshitari of Hyotei and Syuusuke Fuji of Seigaku, face off while Ryou Shishido faces Oishi

The Golden Pair is able to make a comeback, thanks to Oishi's patience.

Inui faces his former doubles partner, Renji Yanagi, in a match that will determine who's stronger.

Everybody is surprised when Inui says that he'll forget all his data, only to find out that he actually didn't. Renji is manipulated by Inui, who makes their match from before continue.

The genius of Seigaku, Syuusuke Fuji, faces Rikkaidai's Akaya Kirihara. A battle of an 'Angel' against a 'Demon'. Kirihara intentionally injures Fuji's right knee.

Kirihara continues to injure Fuji. Tachibana arrives despite of his injury (also dealt by Kirihara) and cheers Fuji on. However, when Kirihara attempts to injure Tachibana again, Fuji finally becomes angry at Kirihara's sadistic style of tennis and unleashes his full potential on Kirihara. 
"Clash! Ryoma vs Sanada" 126
The deciding game!! After a week's training, will be Ryoma able to catch up to Sanada? 
"Invisible Serve" 127
Sanada unveils his Invisible Serve, a move that effectively hides his swing and the path of the ball. Ryoma loses his morale, but he regains it when his father successfully taunts him from afar. 
"Conclusion ~ Which One will Win?" 128
Ryoma overcomes Sanada, going into the State of Self-Actualization and using the techniques of other players. Rikkaidai loses the game and heads to the Nationals as runner-up.

Kawamura's father the sushi chef was injured, and Kawamura had to do his part in the shop along with a troubled man named Gen.

Kurumi, a young and insecure girl who has lost her will to pursue her dream, becomes infatuated with Fuji and gets a date from him. Meanwhile, Momoshiro, Ryoma and Kikumaru befriend the person who unwittingly crushed little Kurumi's illusions... her own older sister Narumi. 
"Kikumaru's Summer Vacation" 135
Kikumaru won a contest to have his popular idols, the Chocolates J-Pop idol group, visit his house. The problem is, his teammates keep showing up.

Tezuka and Fuji have a match to determine Seigaku's number one in the intraschool ranking. This match, which lasts until episode 176, truly awakens Fuji's full potential as a tennis player. Flashbacks reveal a match between the two when they were first years, their subsequent friendship, and the implications of Tezuka's injury. Fuji takes an early lead, but the match is far from over. 
"Seriousness in the Third Year" 175
Tezuka and Fuji's match intensifies as they each gradually begin to reveal their best moves (Tezuka's Zero-Shiki Drop/Tezuka Zone and Fuji's Triple Counters). Tezuka slowly begins to surpass Fuji. As he begins to struggle, Fuji reminisces about their first year match (which included the promise of a rematch) and their developing friendship. He then realizes that he is afraid of finding out the results of both of them playing to their full potential and that this is quite possibly the last match they will ever have against each other, and he concludes that if he doesn't play his hardest, he will regret it. His hits suddenly get sharper, and Tezuka comments that the true Fuji has awakened. 
"Climax" 176
Once Fuji starts playing his hardest, Tezuka starts to get pushed back. With heart and soul completely in the match, the two battle at their hardest. Who will win? 

Episode 177-178: Start of Nationals Arc
