List of Power Rangers in Space monsters

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This guide covers the monsters that have appeared in Power Rangers in Space. To make a monster grow, on Astronema's command, laser beams called Sattelasers would be fired onto the monster to make them grow big. Once again their voice actors are uncredited.

[edit] List of Monsters

[edit] Electrotramp

  • First Appearance: "Shell Shocked" (2/27/98)
  • Voice Actor: Blake Torney

Electrotramp is an electrical monster that Astronema used to draw out the Rangers to have her mesmerized Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles "help" them defeat him. In battle he summons large spheres of electricity which he then throws at his opponents. Before the Turtles were put under Astronema's spell, they eliminated Electrotramp when he fired one of his electrical spheres at the Rangers and Turtles, only for the Turtles to kick the sphere around and send it flying back at Electrotramp, zapping him into oblivion. He was later resurrected by Dark Specter and became part of Rita and Zedd's army on a planet in the Vica Galaxy.

NOTE: Electrotramp is a repainted hybrid of two monsters. It has the head of Ohranger monster Bara Police (unused in Power Rangers: Zeo) and the body of a Varox.

[edit] Clawhammer

  • First Appearance: "Satellite Search" (3/13/98)

Clawhammer is a shrimp monster from the planet Kalderon. Clawhammer can project an energy blade from his claw. Astronema had chained the Space Rangers up, ready to be eaten by Clawhammer. While the Rangers were getting themselves freed, Alpha 6 was piloting the Astro Megazord to battle Clawhammer until the Rangers regained control and destroyed Clawhammer by throwing him into a volcano. He was then resurrected as a part of Destructipede's army, but was destroyed again when Destructipede was destroyed.

[edit] Voltage Hog

  • First Appearance: "A Ranger Among Thieves" (3/20/98)

Voltage Hog is an electrical monster that can drain electricity from powerlines and use it in its tentacles to fight his enemies. Astronema used him to destroy the Power Rangers. He battled the Red Ranger, and then the three car thieves. The Rangers had later used the Quadroblaster that defeated Voltage Hog. They then used the Astro Megazord to destroy him.

[edit] Elephantitan

  • First Appearance: "When Push Comes to Shove" (3/27/98)

Elephantitan is a titanic elephant monster used by Astronema. She sent Elephantitan to knock over the laboratory of Professor Phenomenus so the plutonium fuel can be knocked over and destroy the entire city of Angel Grove. The Astro Megazord's Saber was able to destroy Elephantitan.

[edit] Waspicable

  • First Appearance: "The Wasp with a Heart" (4/4/98)
  • Voice Actor: Ken Merckx

Waspicable is a kind-hearted wasp monster. He was able to project powerful energy blasts from his eyes and teleport in a little ball beam. Waspicable realized that he wasn't as evil a monster for he didn't want to cause harm to anyone else. Cassie Chan, the Pink Space Ranger, proved that he was good after he had saved her from an attack caused by Sting King. At the end of the episode, Waspicable goes off to do good and is not destroyed.

Another Waspicable was seen during the invasion upon the Phantom Ranger's home planet and another one was seen on Onyx in the episode "Heir to the Throne".

NOTE: Waspicable is a repainted version of Grumble Bee with different wings added.

[edit] Sting King

  • First Appearance: "The Wasp with a Heart" (4/4/98)
  • Voice Actor: Bob Papenbrook

Sting King is a robotic bee monster that was partnered with Waspicable. He could fire a rapid series of lasers from his stinger arm. When in space, his blasts can affect an entire city. Sting King could also release a swarm of bees. Sting King was ultimately summoned by Astronema, partnered with Waspicable, to destroy the Power Rangers. He kept on bullying Waspicable to be evil. He was destroyed by the Astro Megazord. He was then recreated as a part of Destructipede's army, but was destroyed again with the other monsters when Destructipede was destroyed by the Rangers. He was later resurrected by Dark Specter & became part of Rita & Zedd's army on a planet in the Vica Galaxy.

[edit] Crocovile

  • First Appearance: "The Delta Discovery" (4/11/98)

Crocovile is a regenerating crocodile monster used by Astronema to distract the Rangers while Dark Specter whisks Zordon far away from them. Crocovile was capable of duplicating himself, creating replicas, one with a head for a hand, and another with a tail for a hand. The tail of Crocovile wrapped up the black ranger in battle. When the two giant Crocoviles faced the Astro Megazord, the tail of the first Crocovile wrapped itself around the Megazord's waist, and he played with the robot by bouncing it on the ground. The Astro & Delta Megazords destroyed the Crocoviles after Andros gains access to the Delta Megazord. A Crocovile was later seen on Onyx.

[edit] Destructipede

  • First Appearance: "The Great Evilyzer" (4/18/98)
  • Voice Actor: Mike Reynolds

An illusion-casting centipede monster used by Astronema. He led an army of monsters, including Powerdriller, Behemoth, Fearog, and a revived Clawhammer and Sting King. When Destructipede was destroyed by the Astro Delta Megazord's Flying Power Punch, the other 5 monsters exploded immediately afterwards. Destructipede was later seen attacking Phantom Ranger and Blue Senturion in "Countdown to Destruction".

[edit] Powerdriller

  • First Appearance: "The Great Evilyzer" (4/18/98)

[edit] Mamamite

  • First Appearance: "Grandma Matchmaker" (4/25/98)
  • Voice Actor: Jackie Marchand

A termite monster who planted eggs containing her brood. She was destroyed by the Quadra Blaster. She was later resurrected by Dark Specter and became part of Mondo's army.

[edit] Termitus

  • First Appearance: "Grandma Matchmaker" (4/25/98)
  • Voice Actor: Dave Mallow

The fusion of the termites hatched by Mamamite. He was frozen and then shattered to pieces by the Flying Power Punch of the Astro Delta Megazord. This monster was later seen on Onyx in the auction of the Pink Quasar Saber.

[edit] Barillian Bug

  • First Appearance: "The Barillian Sting" (5/2/98)
  • Voice Actor: Kim Strauss

A Barillian Bug is scorpion-like parasitic insect alien that, if bitten a person, can transform them into humanoid Barillian bugs. They are scorpion beings that tend to fight & bite the 1st person they come in contact with. Here, Carlos is the first one to get bitten by one, and he then turns into a Barillian Bug monster. Later he bites Cassie and turns her into a Bug monster. An antidote for this cure lies on the planet KO-35, and it was eventually given to Cassie and Carlos. After Darkonda destroys the last of the antidote, he releases another bug who turns into a monster. This monster grows into a giant, only to be killed by Astro Megazord. This monster was later seen on Onyx. Loyax had also come in contact with one during his years as a good guy, and destroyed it with his sword in battle.

[edit] Darkliptor

Darkliptor
Darkliptor
  • First Appearance: "TJ's Identity Crisis" (5/9/98)
  • Voice Actor: Steve Kramer

A merging of Darkonda and (an unwilling) Ecliptor. Basically this monster had the shape of Ecliptor, with the face (and other body parts) of Darkonda (but had only Darkonda's voice). He traps Carlos, Ashley and Cassie inside of ice cages, and smashes T.J. in the head with his swords, causing T.J. to suffer amnesia. After T.J. regains his memory, he frees the others and thrashes Darkliptor about, causing him to split back into the two warriors again. Astronema makes them grow, with Darkonda re-combining them into Darkliptor. As Darkliptor is about to get hit by the Astro Delta Megazord's Flying Power Punch, they de-merge and Darkonda pushes Ecliptor in front of the power punch, yet they both get hit. Darkonda and Ecliptor then shrink back to normal size (where Darkonda is seemingly unharmed while Ecliptor is terribly wounded). Darkonda swears revenge upon the Rangers before he and Ecliptor return to the base. Darkonda and Ecliptor would later briefly merge back into this form in "The Secret of the Locket", but Ecliptor, now with a stronger mind, was able to escape and break apart the fusioned form.

[edit] Mutantrus

  • First Appearance: "Flashes of Darkonda" (5/16/98)
  • Voice Actor: Brett Walkow

A giant squid-like monster grown from a portion of the giant, mutated Darkonda. He could fly through space and blast lasers from his forehead. Together with the Mutated Darkonda, he clobbered the Astro-Delta Megazord, but was destroyed in outer space by the individual Mega Voyager zords. He was later resurrected and seen among Divatox's army on the planet Gratha during "Countdown to Destruction".

[edit] Lionizer

  • First Appearance: "True Blue to the Rescue" (9/19/98)
  • Voice Actor: Ken Merckx

Lionizer is a robotic lion-themed monster. He carries a powerful bazooka. Astronema had used him (and his extra muscle) to capture the Storm Blaster. He battled the Rangers, & was defeated by the combination of the Quadroblaster & Spiral Saber Booster Mode. The Mega V3 missile mode destroyed Lionizer after he became a giant.

[edit] Body Switcher

  • First Appearance: "Invasion of the Body Switcher" (9/26/98)
  • Voice Actor: Ezra Weisz

Body Switcher is a doppelganger monster that is able to transform their victims into someone completely different. Astronema had Body Switcher make her look like Ashley Hammond, the Yellow Space Ranger. Body Switcher was destroyed by the Mega V3 Missile mode.

NOTE: 5 of the monsters Body Switcher transformed into were recycled Beetleborgs monsters. They are Rocket Man, Cataclaws, LottaMuggs, Unctuous, and Firecat.

[edit] Lunatick

  • First Appearance: "Survival of the Silver" (10/3/98)
  • Voice Actor: Bob Papenbrook

Lunatick is an ant-lion/tick monster from the planet Kadix that had battled the Space Rangers, including the Silver Space Ranger. Lunatick spoke a strange, alien language, unique to most characters in Power Rangers. Lunatick spawned and hatched from the planet sample egg that the Rangers had brought back with them. He was destroyed by the Astro Delta Megazord.

Later on, Lunatick was seen in the Shadow World's Underground Tomb along with many other undead monsters when Queen Bansheera attempted to release all of the monsters and demons in the Shadow World into the world.

[edit] Crocotoxes

  • First Appearance: "Red with Envy" (10/10/98)
  • Voice Actor: Michael Sorich

Crocotox is a breed of toxic sea monsters, with heads resembling moray eels, created by Darkonda on Dekata 5. Crocotox's toxin gave people black spots, probably an infectious disease, when they were in the water. The first Crocotox Red battled the Rangers on the beach but was destroyed by them, wiping the disease off of all his victims. Another Crocotox Red, as well as a blue one, aided Darkonda in capturing the Rangers, who were later freed by Zhane. Crocotox Blue was destroyed by Astro Delta Megazord, while Zhane, using his Super Silverizer, destroyed the second Crocotox Red. Crocotox Red was resurrected by Dark Specter & was among the Machine Empire's army on the Phantom Ranger's home planet.

[edit] Praying Mantis

  • First Appearance: "The Silver Secret" (10/14/98)
  • Voice Actor: Dave Mallow

Praying Mantis is a robotic mantis monster used by Astronema. To take advantage of the Silver Ranger's time limit, she summoned this monster from swirling green energy. In battle, he planted a detonation device on Zhane (Silver Ranger) and it looked for a moment like he succeeded and Zhane was gone. An enraged Andros led the other Rangers on the attack, but Mantis was too powerful. When it seemed like he was about to finish off the Rangers, Zhane, who somehow survived the blast, returned to shift the battle back in the Rangers' favor, much to Astronema and Mantis's shock. Andros (using his Spiral Saber), Cassie (using her Satellite Stunner) and Zhane (using his Super Silverizer) took down Praying Mantis, but then the Satellasers were fired to make the monster into a giant. The Rangers called on the Mega Voyager, and in the end were easily victorious over Praying Mantis, via usage of the Mega V3 Missile Mode.

The Praying Mantis is not to be confused with Rita's Mantis monster from MMPR season one.

[edit] Destructoid

  • First Appearance: "A Date with Danger" (10/15/98)
  • In-Suit Actor: Blake Torney
  • Voice Actor: Ethan Murray

Destructoid is a wild animal monster which attacked Astronema, after she accidentally shot him. Zhane knocked him aside, and fled with Astronema to safety. Destructoid was later seen on Onyx seemingly wandering around aimlessly.

NOTE: Destructoid was originally a recycled suit of Beetleborgs Metallix's Mole Monster except with a different hair style.

[edit] Horror Bull

  • First Appearance: "A Date with Danger" (10/15/98)
  • Voice Actor: Brad Orchard

Horror Bull is a set of bull (or bison) monsters created by Ecliptor. The first Horror Bull is killed by the Quadroblaster and the second Horror Bull is killed by Astro Delta Megazord.

[edit] Coralizer

  • First Appearance: "Zhane's Destiny" (10/16/98)

Coralizer is a coral monster that can coralize anybody or anything; used by Darkonda but a monster of Dark Specter. Killed by Astro Delta Megazord. Coralizer was resurrected by Dark Specter & was among the Machine Empire's army on the Phantom Ranger's home planet.

[edit] Lizwizard

  • First Appearance: "Always a Chance" (10/17/98)
  • Voice Actor: Ezra Weisz

Lizwizard is an electrical chameleon monster used by Astronema. In the beginning of the episode he had Cassie wrapped around in his long tongue, and just when Carlos was ready to strike, Lizwizard magically switched places with Cassie, causing Carlos to accidentally hit Cassie with his Lunar Lance, injuring her shoulder. Later, Carlos met the monster alone (when the monster was stalking Bulk, Skull, and Professor Phenomenous), and when it looked like Carlos was in trouble, former Power Ranger Adam Park came to Carlos's rescue. Later on, after it seemed like Carlos quit the Rangers, Lizwizard attacked him again, and Adam, who had found his old Power Coin somewhere, morphed into the Black Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger and took on the monster. Of course the idea would prove to be hazardous as the morphing nearly extinguished Adam. The other Space Rangers came to the rescue, with a fully-recovered Cassie handing Carlos his morpher, and Carlos morphed once again. The monster used his tongue-wrapping tactic on Adam as Carlos lunged at him with the Lunar Lance. The monster switched places with Adam, but this time Carlos was ready. He leapt on Adam's shoulder and struck Lizwizard with a brutal blow from the Lunar Lance. Astronema then made him grow, but it would do him no good as he quickly fell victim to a swipe from the Astro Megazord Saber. Adam did get saved in the end and decided not to try such a risky maneuver again.

[edit] Batarax

  • First Appearance: "The Secret of the Locket" (10/21/98)

Batarax is a sonic bat monster used by Astronema. Batarax was sent to Earth to be ready to attack under Ecliptor's command. Batarax could manipulate sound and frequency. Killed by Astro Megazord. Batarax was seen playing guitar on Onyx before being summoned to Earth by Astronema.

[edit] Spikey

  • First Appearance: "Astronema Thinks Twice" (10/23/98)
  • Voice Actor: Bob Papenbrook

Spikey is a spike-covered plant-like monster with sharp claws on one of his hands. Astronema created and sent him to destroy the Red Ranger to prove her loyalty to Dark Specter. He seemed to have the upper hand on Andros during battle, knocking his morpher away. When it looked like he was about to finish Andros, Astronema, well hidden, threw Andros his morpher, which he then used to become the Red Ranger, allowing him to regain the upper hand on Spikey, who never realized that Astronema had given Andros the morpher. The other Rangers came to fight alongside Andros and delivered a beating to Spikey, which included combined fire blasts from the Spiral Saber and Quadroblaster. However, Spikey grew by himself after the attack, at which point the Rangers summoned the Mega Voyager. In the end the monster was no match for the Rangers, who used the Mega Voyager to sever his sharp claws before obliterating him with the Mega V-3 Missile Mode.

[edit] Frightwing

  • First Appearance: "Dark Specter's Revenge (Part 2)" (10/29/98)
  • Voice Actor: Tony Oliver

A robotic condor monster used by the newly-brainwashed (at this point) Astronema. When Bulk, Skull, and Professor Phenomenous crash landed back on Earth during a failed flight into space, Frightwing arrived to terrorize them with the intent to destroy them, thinking that they were Power Rangers. Luckily, however, the real Rangers arrived to save the bumbling trio and take the monster on. After a brief battle, Astronema called for the Satellasers to be fired, which of course then made the monster grow. The Rangers then summoned the Mega Voyager to make things easier. However, it soon got locked up in chains that fired up from underneath the ground, and Frightwing was there to blast them relentlessly. The Rangers gave the Mega Voyager a power boost to break it free of the chains, but then Frightwing demonstrated his aerial swooping attacks, landing several blows on the Mega Voyager. The Mega Voyager readied its Mega V-3 Missile Mode, but the Rangers couldn't get a lock on the monster because of his constant flying, not staying in one spot. Just then, Frightwing encountered Zhane, who arrived with his new Zord, the Mega Winger. The Mega Winger, in jet mode, was able to shoot down Frightwing and send him back down to Earth - and hard. The Mega Winger then transformed into its battle mode and did a number on Frightwing, who then tried to retreat by flying away. Zhane then punched in a command that gave the Mega Winger's wings to the Mega Voyager, now giving the latter the ability to fly. The Winged Mega Voyager flew after the monster, and the Rangers got him in their sights. Winged Mega Voyager was then able to fire the Mega V-3 Missile Mode at Frightwing, destroying him while he was still flying high in the sky.

Frightwing was later seen in the Vica Galaxy during Countdown to Destruction, where he was presumably vaporized by Zordon's energy wave.

[edit] Owl Monster

  • First Appearance: "Rangers Gone Psycho" (10/30/98)
  • Voice Actor: Brad Orchard

A robotic owl monster who attacked the Rangers before they first encountered the Psycho Rangers. He could fire light blasts and lasers from his eyes in battle. After combined attacks on him from the Rangers' power weapons, the monster made himself grow (without the Satellasers). The Rangers called for the Astro Megazord to finish the job. The Astro Megazord's shield activated a reflective coating to reflect his own attacks back at him. It was a quick battle, as the Rangers managed to use the Astro Megazord saber to bring about the monster's doom. The Owl Monster was later seen among the Machine Empire's army during "Countdown to Destruction", but was killed again by Zordon's Energy Wave.

[edit] Datascammer

  • First Appearance: "Carlos on Call" (10/31/98)

Datascammer is a cybernetic lizard creature that Astronema had used to scan information about the Rangers. He could do this by firing blinding beams of light. The Psycho Rangers, especially Psycho Red, seemed to object to this ideal, wanting to destroy the Rangers without Datascammer's power. When Datascammer first met 4 of the Rangers, Ashley thought he seemed harmless, but Datascammer quickly responded to that quip with his merciless attacks. The Rangers had trouble with him until Andros showed up and fired the Spiral Saber at him, but then the monster got away. Later, as Silvy was visiting her brother's grave, Datascammer found her and stalked her, but the Rangers arrived in time to take him on. After getting blasted by the combined might of the Spiral Saber and Quadroblaster, Astronema ordered the firing of the Sattelasers to make Datascammer into a giant. The Rangers fired at the monster with their weapons, but to no avail - so they then called for the Mega Voyager. Datascammer again fired his blinding "scanning" beams of light and fired lasers from his mouth to put the Rangers on the ropes, and then suddenly the Mega Voyager disappeared. The monster thought for a second that he had finished the Rangers, but then was alarmed to see that they were still standing - or in this case, flying, as the Mega Voyager had taken off into space (off-screen somehow) to receive the upgrade that was the wings of the Mega Winger. That would be it for Datascammer in the end, because the Winged Mega Voyager fired its Mega V-3 Missile Mode from the air to decimate the monster.

[edit] Jakarak

  • First Appearance: "Andros and the Stowaway" (11/11/98)
  • Voice Actor: Lex Lang

Jakarak is an anglerfish monster from the planet Tirna who is also the master of the young red alien that would eventually grow big (via gluttonous consumption of food) and come to be known to the Rangers as Seymour. Jakarak was after the Rangers upon finding that they have taken Seymour under their wing, and he wanted him back, thus he aligned himself with Astronema. He had a flower on his head that was capable of turning anything into stone. Later, on Earth, Seymour was with the Rangers when Jakarak was sent to attack them. In battle, Andros got his feet turned to stone by Jakarak when he attempted a flying kick on the monster. Soon afterwards, Jakarak grabbed Seymour and consumed him, making the two into one creature with the head of Seymour on Jakarak's midsection. Ashley discovered that Jakarak's weak spot was right in between the eyes. The Rangers blasted Jakarak right on said spot, which in turn turned Andros' feet from stone back to normal. But Jakarak got right back up, with Seymour still being held by the monster, and Seymour told the Rangers to forget about him. Andros declared never, but Jakarak still manhandled the Rangers. After Andros told him he was strong and he could beat Jakarak, Seymour was then able to break free from Jakarak's clutches and tried to attack the monster himself, even knocking him down with a laser blast of his own, but then Jakarak, infuriated, fired a laser at Seymour and knocked him down, leaving Seymour extremely weakened. An infuriated Andros then rushed at Jakarak and took him down, prompting Astronema to order the Satellaser launch, and turning Jakarak into a giant. The Rangers called for the Astro Megazord, but then Jakarak turned the Astro Megazord's shield and left fist into stone. The Rangers then called on Delta Megazord, which then fired its cannons to destroy the flower on Jakarak's head, turning the Astro Megazord's shield and fist back to normal. The Rangers then formed the Astro Delta Megazord and put an end to Jakarak's existence with the Flying Power Punch.

[edit] Vacsacker

  • First Appearance: "Mission to Secret City" (11/12/98)
  • Voice Actor: Richard Epcar

Vacsacker is a transport-themed robotic monster used to abduct people to Secret City. He was the first victim of Andro's Red Battlized Ranger powers, and was finally destroyed by the Mega Voyager.

He was later seen among Divatox's army during Countdown to Destruction.

[edit] Tankenstein

Tankenstein's a powerful shapeshifting mecha monster used by Astronema. In normal size he appeared only as a jeep-like vehicle that kept stalking the Rangers. He then teleported the rangers individually after each attack to a desert dimension. After he teleported all 5 of the main ranger team, he then tried to destroy them in the desert dimension. The silver ranger came to their rescue using the Galactic Rover and destroyed Tankenstein's jeep-like form. When he was turned into a giant using the satellaser and became an actual monster. He could regenerate himself, as well as electrocute the Mega Voyager with hidden cables. After a short time in battle, his circuits seemed to overheat and malfunction. He accidentally self-destructed and blew up the Mega Voyager in the process.
