The following is a list of the Portuguese warships which were lying in the Tagus River, Lisbon, when Lord St Vincent was there in September 1806:

N.B. One 74-gun ship sailed the latter end of August, and Rainha de Portugal arrived. These ships, in general, were said to be in good repair; and as to construction, equal, if not superior to the British.

The following is a list of the ships that are under construction or that will be transferred to the Portuguese Navy:

  • Patrol ships NPO 2004, of the Viana do Castelo class: 10 vessels, 2 will be launched in 2007
  • Karel Doorman "M" class frigate[[1]]: 2 vessels ([Galen] and [Van Speijk])
  • U209/1400 class submarines (but equal to a class U214 with AIP): 2 vessels (HDW shipyards), 2009 and 2010, to replace all of the Albacora class submarine vessels used by the Portuguese Navy.
  • Amphibious transport dock: 1 vessel
