List of Polgas' other guises

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aside from Wisedog/Dobermaxx, here is the exhaustive list of Polgas's more prominent and named aliases which appeared in the comic strip Pugad Baboy. They are ordered according to first appearance in the comic strip's compilations (from The Very Best of Pugad Baboy or Pugad Baboy One to Pugad Baboy Sunday Comics).

Note that the list is limited only to those that appear in the strip proper and does not include guises that appear on promotional items such as the Polgas P-Gurines:

  • Superpol - Polgas changed into this superhero spoof while the Sungcals were having a fire drill.
  • Aquapol - a spoof of Aquaman who saved the Pugad Baboy gang from some ugly sea creatures.
  • Amorsolo - Medina's version of a Ninja Turtle after seeing the pattern of the actual Ninja Turtles being named after Renaissance artists. His name is derived from the name of Filipino painter Fernando Amorsolo.
  • Robin Hound - a spoof of Robin Hood, he helped Tomas and Ka Noli stop a certain Sendong Langib and his band of pedophiles from escaping.
  • Growlsbuster - a spoof of a Ghostbuster. He drove many ghouls and monsters away from the hut he and the Pugad Baboy gang were staying in Dueñas using weapons containing garlic.
  • Weredog - a werewolf cover of Wisedog to stake out the camp of the ghouls so he and the Pugad Baboy gang can rescue his friend Pao later. After all, the ones who abducted Pugad Baboy's resident gay were werewolves.
  • Shin Dong Pol - a "tae kwon dog" expert who taught his martial art to Debbie and Barbie to get back at their husbands.
  • Dr. Edwin Polbert - a paleontologist specializing in dinosaurs. He appeared after Bab found what seemed to be a dinosaur bone.
  • Commandog - a spoof of Commando, a title character played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. He gave Tomas a bomb filled with pink paint after the latter became ironically frustrated in his paintball skills. Commandog probably took advantage of Tomas's feelings to settle Commandog's grudge against the owner of the Pari's Point restaurant after Commandog was refused to be given a discount.
  • Judge Tickolas Marshall - a spoof the lead character Nicholas Marshall in the TV show Dark Justice. Judge Tickolas implements "Bark Justice" where his punishments for various crimes seem lame at first, but brutal if applied. His most brutal punishment was to American deserter Cassius "G. I." Jones, whom the judge sentenced to death "in any way possible" for the latter's activities involving white slavery. The judge's weakness happens to be his fear of hurting women.
  • Pol Torero - a spoof of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE)'s The Undertaker. Dagul called him the "Pinoy Undertaker" (a Filipino version of the wrestler) after Polgas appeared in the Undertaker's get-up and uttered, "I will not rest in peace!" His name is derived from the Filipino word sepultorero, a cemetery watcher, and this guise is probably a Halloween gimmick.
  • Carlo J. Capolgas - a spoof of Filipino movie director Carlo J. Caparas. Like his namesake director, Carlo wanted his movies to be full of blood and gore, much to the embarrassment of his latest acquisition, Tiny.
  • Dogtor Walden Beldog - a spoof of socio-economist Walden Bello who comments on the Philippine government's application of GATT.
  • J. Paul Gasti - a spoof of J. Paul Getty. Polgas used this name for his "rich dog" persona as acting out as a rich dog is the only way a doomsday cult (which he and the Walang Payat Gang, composed of Paltik, Joma, and Utoy, were investigating) would recruit him to their fold.
  • Ka Buhayan - a guise that appears in a strip series which reminds readers that one doesn't have to rely on the government for a person's success; some entrepreneurial skills and nearby natural resources will do. The two farmers in that series initially mistook him for Kamatayan (Death, i. e. The Grim Reaper).
  • Dr. Sigmund Floyd - a spoof of psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud. He is a psychiatrist who treats his patients using sarcasm. Two of his patients were Dagul (for his xenophobia) and Bab (for his "incurable laziness"). Later appearances showed him without his mullet.
  • Polstradamus - a spoof of Nostradamus. He is a seer who makes very grim but very true predictions.
  • Darth Paul - a spoof of Darth Maul. He appears basically as a gimmick in "promoting" Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
  • The Polisher - a spoof of The Punisher. This guise initially appeared as a shoeshine boy cum notary public who advised Igno to check on the background of Igno's clients, Napoleon and Alexander Ang, before the ex-convict bounty hunter could proceed with his mission. The Polisher revealed his true self after throwing a flaming can of shoe polish at some goons to save Igno and his "target" Rudolf Cruz. He also coined his alternate name The Publisher after revealing to Igno that he also "published" Medina's compilations.
  • Horatio Canine - a spoof of Horatio Caine, the lead character of CSI: Miami. He suddenly appeared when Tiny discovered that somebody bit into her chocolate bar. He then told her on what can be done to "catch" whoever munched on that bar.
