The Boundary Commission for England has recommended that the county should in future be divided into 18 constituencies. The proposed Aldershot and Basingstoke seats, more predominantly urban than as present defined, will be designated borough constituencies. These changes are expected to be implemented at the United Kingdom general election, 2009/10.
