Earl J. Hickey is a small-time thief with a messed-up life. He wins a $100,000 lottery scratcher, but is immediately hit by a car and watches the ticket blow away. In the hospital recovering, Earl's wife divorces him, and Earl is introduced to karma while watching an interview with singer Trace Adkins on Last Call with Carson Daly. He decides to try to make up for all the bad things he has done and makes a written list of 259 items. After leaving the hospital he starts on his list and right away he finds his lost $100,000 scratcher. Figuring karma works pretty well, he resolves to continue making up for items on the list. |

Natalie's current boyfriend likes the scam so much that he fakes his own death, and moves into a room at the hotel where Earl lives. Earl becomes conflicted, and tries to comfort Natalie, but ends up as her boyfriend again. |

Made up for #153, "Broke Joy's fancy figurine." Earl discovers he can't buy another since they're the first prize in the Balboa & Sons Mother and Daughter Prettiest Pretty Princess Pageant. Earl finds Shelly Stoker, who has won several competitions, and helps her and her daughter practice their knife-throwing talent so they can win and give him the trophy figurine (a princess riding a "487 side-discharge, self-mulching lawn mower") to give to Joy. |

"Stole Beer from a Golfer" |

The fair is in town, but before they can go Earl has to cross an item off his list. Earl secretly fixed a ton of golf games for a golfer when he finds out that the golfer celebrates by buying everyone at the bar a free beer. When Randy slips and tell others about the scam, Earl and Randy have to stop. When they find the golfer to give him the beer they scammed him out of, they find that because the golfer thought he was going to go pro, he neglected his life for golf and lost his job, and is now living in his car. Since the golfer's life has tanked, and it is Earl's fault, Earl has to get him his old job back and get him back together with his girlfriend. |

Made up for #262,"Ruined Joy's Wedding." Joy and Darnell have their wedding and invite Randy but not Earl. Earl becomes upset at the fact that he and Joy aren't close and he crashes Joy's wedding after getting drunk, managing to break her nose by accident in the process. After Joy recovers, Earl convinces her to let him fix what he did by planning her dream wedding. While helping Joy plan her wedding, Earl ends up having sex with Joy, and now has to add Darnell to his list, because he slept with his fiancee. |

"Cost Dad the Election" |

Earl tries to make up for stealing a car from a girl who only had one leg, and gets beat up by her boyfriend with no legs. When her boyfriend is hitting him with a campaign sign, Earl remembers #4, how he cost his father the last mayoral election, and against his father's wishes Earl signs him up to run again. His father is at first angry at Earl for doing this, but after hearing the public's response, decides to go ahead with it. |

Earl has wrecked every Christmas he's spent with Joy, so he, Randy and Catalina try to win a Dodge Neon in a contest wherein they had to keep their hands on said car, in an attempt to get Joy the car for a Christmas present. Earl is eliminated when he goes to shake hands with Randy, so it's up to Catalina and Randy to win the car. Earl decides to correct his mistake of wrecking Dodge's and Earl Jr.'s Christmas one year in the meantime. He then finds out that Joy never told her parents that she and Earl were no longer married, and lied about his absence by saying he was serving in Iraq. She explains to Earl that her father is a racist and would freak if he knew she were married to Darnell. Joy's mother has also been struck with rheumatoid arthritis and kidney failure, and needs dialysis and is in a wheelchair. Earl finds out that this is a lie, and Joy's mom was taking the money for her dialysis and gambling it away at an Indian casino. Earl's got a lot of work to do if he wants this Christmas to go well. |

Earl goes back to the Camp for Troubled Boys to make up for #164 "Burned down a barn at camp" that got him and his relatives banned from the camp, so that Joy's kids can go. After building an Ostrich pen to make up for it, Earl finds out that Randy burnt down the barn. This means that Randy is responsible for all of Earl's bad doings after that point, which is about 100 things. |

Made up for #202,"Stole a wallet from a guy at the gas station." Earl gives back a wallet he stole, along with the $1000 that was in it. Earl finds out that the guy was going to use the money for his honeymoon, and now that he has the money, his wife wants to go on a real honeymoon. However, the guy can't get time off from work, so Earl volunteers to fill in for him at the fast-food restaurant he works at. However, the boss is a mean guy who is constantly stealing things from work. Earl has to keep his cool, or else end up getting the guy he's replacing fired. |

Made up for #159,"Stole P's HD Cart." After Earl returns a hot-dog cart that he and Ralph stole, his efforts are undone when Ralph, working for the competition, sets fire to the cart. Earl sets off to get the money to replace the cart from the competition, but that's harder than it sounds. |

While Earl and Randy are trying to return a laptop they stole, they accidentally knock over a bus stop sign. Earl promises to fix the sign, but gets sidetracked by the laptop's owner, the beautiful college professor Alex Meyers. Alex takes an interest in Earl and his List, and they begin dating. Earl soon notices that he is the target of bad accidents and random acts of violence, and remembers that he hasn't fixed the bus stop sign yet, and Karma is punishing him. Meanwhile, Randy has taken an interest in college life. |
