[edit] Vent & Aile
Vent (ヴァン Van?) and Aile (エール Ēru?) are the two main protagonists of Mega Man ZX. They use the powerful artifacts known as "Biometals" to defend themselves and others from Mavericks. Vent means "Wind" in French, while Aile means "Wing" in French.
The game doesn't make it clear whether or not Vent and Aile exist in the same timeline, or what their relationship is if they do. Neither one is ever seen or mentioned in the other's storyline; however, a recent promo movie for the game features both of them coexisting in the same timeline, and the game's English web site states they both work together at Giro Express. What little we know of their backstories are identical, and other than gender their main differences are that their storylines are slightly different, Aile is faster, Vent doesn't get knocked back as far when he takes a hit, a certain NPC will change Aile's human form's color palette but not Vent's, and they have to go on different sidequests to get the Ice Boots Chip.
Ten years prior to the events of Mega Man ZX, they went with their mother(s) to the fair, where their mother(s) was/were killed in a Maverick attack (in Vent's story, it's revealed that the Pseudoroid Purprill was responsible for the incident, though Aile's story does not mention such a fact). At present, Vent and Aile work for Giro Express and are asked by the Guardians to transport the Biometal Model X.
There was a minor NPC in Mega Man X: Command Mission who was named Aile, although he appeared only briefly.
They later come into the possession of the Biometal Model X, and later Model Z when Giro sacrifices his life to save them. They also later obtain Models H, F, L, and P.
Vent and Aile are both voiced by Sanae Kobayashi.
[edit] Girouette
Girouette (ジルウェ Jiruwe?), who goes by Giro for short in the English version, is a character in the Mega Man ZX video game. He is the senior to Aile and Vent, and oversees his own business, named after him: Giro Express (Girouette Express in the original Japanese). Giro Express is a delivery service that will deliver "anything, legal or not". The name "Giro" refers to the British name for a direct deposit, while "Girouette" means "weather vane" in French.
His possession of the Biometal Model Z varies between Vent and Aile's storylines. Vent's storyline clearly states that he used the M.E.G.A. System to transform at approximatively the same time as Vent found Model X, but in Aile's storyline it is implied that he has had Model Z for far longer and even was part of the Guardians. In both storylines he sacrifices his own life to save Vent/Aile from Serpent and Model W (Model V in Japanese).
In Aile's scenario a supplemental scene between Aile and Prairie mention Girouette's striking resemblance to Zero of the Mega Man Zero series, proving that it was most likely intentional and not due to a coincidence of character design.
Giro is voiced by Yuuto Kazama, the same actor who voiced Zero in the Mega Man Zero series. It is also interesting to note that "Giro" is pronounced "Gee-ro", similarly to "Zero". Giro's death is slightly similar to Zero's death in the first Mega Man X title, though the way they died was different in that Giro was controlled by Serpent and Zero self-destructed.
[edit] Prairie
Prairie (プレリー Purerī?) is a character in the Mega Man ZX video game. Her name means "meadow" in French. Prairie is the current leader of the defensive organization known as "The Guardians", which was created by the people of the frontier regions; they are considered to be an unassociated private venture by Slither Inc. The Guardians take in people on a voluntary basis to defend "Frontier" areas and discover the cause of Maverick outbreaks. Their headquarters is the giant flying ship known as "Guardian HQ."
Prairie took command of the Guardians after the original leader (who was revealed as Ciel) went missing after an investigation of an "Outlands" area. At the start of Mega Man ZX, she hired the Giro Express to transport the Biometals "Model X" and "Model Z".
It is revealed in the game that Prairie is over 100 years old, as she was present when she saw Ragnarok breaking apart in the atmosphere, and later during the time of the Models' first discovery. It is also hinted that Prairie may be Alouette from the original Megaman Zero games herself (her stuffed doll, which Alouette always carried, and her reference to the original leader as 'Sis,' which Alouette always used for Ciel).
In Aile's storyline, Prairie is hinted to have fallen in love with Girouette, being said that Giro reminded her of someone she knew before - an obvious reference to Zero. Also, in Aile's storyline, you can see Ciel once you have finished eight missions.
Prairie is voiced by Ryō Hirohashi, who also voiced Alouette.
[edit] Serpent
Serpent (セルパン Serupan?) is the head of Slither Inc. (Serpent Company in the original Japanese game, in which it is named after him). Slither Inc. specialises in the excavation of technology from historic ruins such as Biometals, an act which is exclaimed as the lifeline for the cities of the frontier regions. Many great developments were made thanks to Slither Inc.; they were the ones to ensure that peaceful life was maintained despite numerous Maverick attacks. Though Slither Inc. has acquired much power, for the people living in the frontier regions, this is not necessarily a bad thing. Serpent has amassed for himself a mechaniloid army in his ranks that he has already used several times in the past to save countries from Mavericks. It is revealed that he was a former member of the Guardians.
He comes into the possession of the Biometal Model W (Model V in the Japanese version), which originate from Dr. Weil (Dr. Vile) and becomes the antagonist of the game. Serpent makes it his mission to revive Model W by sacrificing Cyber-Elves filled with the power of fear. When Vent/Aile defeat Serpent for the first time, Serpent harnesses his/her hatred and uses it as the final sacrifice to Model W, fusing with it to become a powerful robot. However, Model W's resurrection is short-lived, as he is defeated again. As Serpent dies, he declares all of humanity to be Mavericks for stopping progress, although it is clear that this sort of progress would have destroyed the world.
It should be noted that Serpent was not necesarily evil, because it is suggested that Model W drove him insane. He thinks he's doing the right thing, because in the final battle he states he wishes to evolve the world rather than destroy it, and in Vent's story, he states that he wishes to remove all the pain and suffering
Serpent is voiced by Kiyoyuki Yanada.
[edit] Prometheus and Pandora
Prometheus (プロメテ Puromete?) and Pandora (パンドラ?) are two mysterious characters that appear to be working under Serpent to help him revive Model W (Model V), but later reveal to be working as the voices or servants of Model W to help with their destiny of destruction. It is unknown if they're Reploids or Humans, but since they said Vent and Aile are the same "Mega Men" as them it is possible that the latter is true, but they could mean something else.
Prometheus and Pandora challenge the player at three different points in the game, the first two being one-on-one battles, and the third in which they fight as a team. After the third battle, they escape and are not seen again for the rest of the game. Where they go after their third defeat is unknown; however, they have been verified to appear again in Rockman ZX Advent as major antagonists.
Prometheus is rather arrogant while Pandora is quiet.
Prometheus uses a huge scythe in combat using mainly melee attacks along with some fire based techniques, while Pandora uses a halberd, and prefers to attack through less direct means with ice and electrical based attacks. Prometheus and Pandora are voiced by Daisuke Kishio and Shizuka Ito, respectively.
