List of Irish loughs
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a list of Irish loughs in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The word "Lough" comes from the Old Irish: Loch meaning "Lake". It is equivalent to a Scottish Loch.
There are many minor bodies of water in Ireland, the majority of which are named loughs. The list below contains only those loughs that are of geographic, geological or historical importance.
