List of George Cross recipients

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The George Cross is the most prestigious award granted to British citizens (and citizens of certain commonwealth counties) for actions of heroism not involving direct enemy action, for which the Victoria Cross is usually awarded. It is also the most prestigious award open to civilian recipients. This list only contains original George Cross recipients, and not recipients of the Empire Gallantry Medal which preceded the George Cross, or the Albert Medal and the Edward Medal which were amalgamated with the George Cross in 1971.
