Contents

[edit] First World

The world where Bartz, Lenna, and Faris live.

[edit] Tycoon Castle

This is the home of Alexander Highwind Tycoon and his two daughters: Lenna and Sarisa (Faris). The party can return here any time after finding King Tycoon's Wind Drake for an optional event. It is sent into the Void by Exdeath shortly after the worlds merge and is used as the entrance to the Rift/N-Zone/Cleft of Dimension.

[edit] Pirate's Cave

A pirate's den located near Tycoon Castle. The party first meets Faris here, who decides to join the party and aid them in their quest. Syldra can be obtained here as a summon after the Worlds merge and Lenna rejoins the party.

[edit] Tule Village

This is the first village that Bartz and company arrive at in the game. It contains a training room for beginners, and an old friend of Lenna's. The party obtains a key here to open the channel.

[edit] Wind Shrine

Home of the Wind Crystal. At the start of the game, King Tycoon heads here to find out why the wind has stopped blowing. His daughter Lenna follows him, joining up with Galuf, Bartz, and Faris, starting the adventure. In the OVA, Linaly and her grandfather, with Pritzz following them, went to the Shrine when they sensed something wrong. But once there, Linaly becomes the host of the Wind Crystal.

[edit] Carwen Village

Also known as Kerwin Village in the Anthologies version. This is a small village located in the eastern part of the first world, north of Walse. It had a formerly bustling port, but the lack of wind prevents ships from leaving.

[edit] North Mountain

A mountain north of Carwen. A place where Hiryuu, Tycoons wind drake was held after being hurt. The esper Bahamut can be found here after the completion of the pyramid.

[edit] Walse

Also known as Worus in the fan translation and Walz in the Anthologies version, this is the home of the Water Crystal. It contains both a town and a castle, as well as the tower to the northwest where the Water Crystal lies. Garula, a normally friendly creature, lives here, but during the struggle becomes wild, and Bartz and company had to defeat it. Shiva lives in the castle. Exdeath sends both the town and the castle into the Void after the worlds merge and it cannot be accessed for the remainder of the game.

[edit] Walse Tower

The tower where Walse's crystal is stored, on a peninsula north of the town. After the crystal is destroyed, it sinks into the sea, and can later be explored to get the Mimic job (the shard containing the Mimic job lands on a ledge out of the party's reach when the crystal shatters).there, you will find a monster named "Famed Mimic Gogo" ando you have to "Mimic" him (do absolutely nothing) to win this battle.

[edit] Karnak

This kingdom is home to the Fire Crystal, and is the homeland of Cid and Mid. Bartz and company get arrested here, as does Cid when he learns of the danger of the Crystal Amplifier. The queen is later revealed to have been possessed by ExDeath. After the party's escape from the dungeon, the city's crystal-powered reactor explodes and destroys the castle, preventing access for the remainder of the game. The adjacent village remains accessible.

[edit] Library of Ancients

Located south of Karnak in Bartz's world. The library has presumably existed since before the war against Enuo 1,000 years ago, as it contains half of a book which describes the merged world. The discovery of this book by the resident scholars triggers a demon by the name of Byblos to possess another tome in the same room, flooding the entire place with monsters- every encounter in the library's basement is with a book that cycles between monsters on different pages (all multiples of 2). Cid and Mid originally hail from here, but eventually follow the party to the Airship Base once the library is safe again. Exdeath sends the library into the Void after the worlds merge and prevents access to it for the remainder of the game.

[edit] Crescent Town

A small town located in the center of Crescent Island, surrounded by forests and other natural boundaries. Earthquakes have been known to happen here, and a Chocobo Forest and the Airship Base lie nearby. In the merged world, the Fork Tower is located near here. A famous bard lives in the town.

[edit] Istory Village

This is also known as Easterly Village in the Anthologies version. Ramuh resides in the nearby forest. Exdeath sends this town into the Void after the worlds merge and prevents access for the remainder of the game.

[edit] Lix Village

Also known as Rikks Village in the Anthologies version, this is Bartz's hometown. The shopkeeper here sells items such as ethers and phoenix downs at a substantial discount because of Bartz's heritage. Exdeath send this town into the Void after the worlds merge and prevents access for the remainder of the game.

[edit] Gohn

An ancient city of Ronka (Lonka in the fan translation), it hides a floating city underneath, which is revealed once the party acquires the airship. The Earth Crystal is located within.

[edit] Catapult

An underground passage located near Crescent Town. Built by the Ronka civilization, the Fire Ship sinks into this location, and the airship used by the party is acquired here. Cid and Mid can be found here for most of the game.

[edit] Jacohl Village

This is a small village located in the south of Bartz's world. A cave nearby contains some treasure and the powerful Skull Eater monsters. According to game dialogue, the town is famous for the powerful items discovered in the cave and the shops carry very good equipment.

[edit] Second World

The world where Galuf and the Warriors of Dawn originally come from.

[edit] Regole Village

Known as Lugor Village in the Anthologies version, this is a small seaside town in Galuf's world. Regole is known for the finest wine in the world. This is the first town visited in the second world.

[edit] Kuza Castle

This is the ancient castle in Galuf's world. It is home to the 12 legendary sealed weapons used to defeat Enuo as well as powerful enemies named Shield Dragon and Exdeath's Soul. The legendary weapons can be unsealed by four tablets acquired in the third world.

[edit] Moogle Village

This is a village of Moogles on the northeast corner of Galuf's world. The party follows a Moogle here after getting lost, and they put on Moogle costumes in order to get along with them. Krille comes here on her Wind Drake to bring the party back to Bal castle. The village is sent into the Void by Exdeath in the combined world.

[edit] Bal Castle

Also known as Val Castle in the Anthologies version, this is where Galuf and Krile live and rule. Krile's Wind Drake lives on top of the tower, and Odin sleeps in the castle basement. The castle is attacked by Exdeath's monsters, but they are held off.

[edit] Quelb Village

Also known as Kelb Village in the Anthologies version. This is a town of werewolves. Kelger, Galuf's old ally and fellow Dawn Warrior, lives here and serves as the village elder, though his health is failing when the party arrives to visit. It is here that Bartz learns the truth about his father, Dorgann.

[edit] Surgate Castle

This is the castle of Xezat, one of the original Warriors of Dawn. The Float spell is located here in a secret area accessed after the player properly shelves the books.

[edit] Moore Village

Also known as Mua in the fan translation. Located on the western edge of Galuf's world. It is on the outskirts of the Moore Forest. The player can obtain either the Brave Blade or the Chicken Knife after going through a locked shed and a woods maze in the Third World. The Brave Blade has the highest attack parameter in the game, but the Chicken Knife can do more damage. The Brave Blade loses power every time the player retreats and the Chicken Knife becomes more powerful every time the player retreats. The Chicken Knife also randomly causes the player to retreat.

[edit] Moore Forest

This is where the crystals in Galuf's world are sealed away. The forest is burnt down while they are travelling in it. Exdeath comes here and uses the party to break the seal. He then attacks the party. Krile senses this through her Moogle, and flies on her Wind Drake to the forest to save the party. However, she is caught up in Exdeath's energy, which forces a weakened Galuf to save her. Galuf attacks Exdeath and dies, leaving Krile to replace him in the party.

[edit] Exdeath's Castle

The original lair of Exdeath is home to fiends and summon monsters, in addition to multiple traps. Carbuncle can be found here.

[edit] Third World

After Exdeath merges the two worlds, new places are accessible along with many locations from the separate worlds. This section only lists those areas that either only appear in the Third World, or are only accessible in it. It is called Planet R in the FFV OVA.

[edit] Pyramid of Moore

A pyramid located to the east of Moore village, it is located where the Moore Forest originally was, and the desert is in the First World. The First Tablet is located here.

[edit] Island Shrine

Located on a small island, the shrine can be seen in the First World, but it is cut off by a mountain range. In the Third World, the Big Bridge allows access to it, where the Second Tablet can be acquired. It also allows access to the Fork Tower.

[edit] Fork Tower

An unusual tower located directly above where the Catapult is located. In it, the party must be separated into two groups. In the left side of the tower, only magical attacks may be used; otherwise, the enemies counterattack for heavy damage. In the right side, magic attack are disabled, so only physical attacks can be used. The ultimate white and black magic spells, Holy and Flare, are acquired here.

[edit] Phantom Village

Known as Mirage Village in the Anthologies version, this is a mysterious town half-in and half-out of the Rift, it's possible to visit the people inside it from the overworld and access a few things through the secret areas. Its shops carry the best purchasable equipment in the game and all the high-level spells (excepting those received by quests). Many secret areas exist in town, and every shop has two merchants (one of whom is more difficult to find and has better merchandise).

[edit] Deep Sea Trench

An area only accessible by submarine, the Deep Sea Trench is below even the bottom of the ocean. The Dwarven Kingdom is located here, along with the Third Tablet and the ultimate Time Magic spell, Meteor. One dwarf is digging a tunnel, and hears odd noises; his doing so gives the player the location of the Phantom Village.

[edit] Istory Falls

The waterfall located to the east of Istory Village can only be accessed with the submarine in the Third World. The Fourth Tablet and Leviathan are located in here, as well as one of the best bows in the game.

[edit] Unknown Cave

A cave accessible underwater and not marked on the map. A man named Mr. Clio tells the party statistics such as how many battles they have fought and how many times they have saved.

[edit] The Sealed Temple

An optional dungeon found in the Game Boy Advance version. Although quite linear in comparison to the other GBA-exclusive dungeons, part of the challenge is solving various puzzles in order to unlock certain doors and proceed deeper into the temple. All sorts of vicious bosses lurk in this area, including Omega Mk. II and Neo Shinryu, even more powerful versions of the infamous superbosses. The final challenge of the Sealed Temple is a battle with none other than Enuo himself.

Powerful weapons and armor can also be found in this dungeon, such as the Force Shield, the Ultima Weapon, and the final Job Class, Necromancer.

Sealed Temple Areas:

  • River of Souls
  • Ruined Shrine
  • Titan's Grotto
  • Heart of Ronka
  • Abyssal Falls
  • Tomb of Memory (Omega Mk. II)
  • Shinryu's Lair (Neo Shinryu)
  • Lethe Court (Enuo)
  • Cloister of The Dead (An endurance battle against an extensive parade of bosses)

[edit] 3rd World OVA-specific locations

[edit] Dragon Tower

A tower near Tycoon Castle, said to be home of the last Hiryuu.

[edit] Black Moon

The lair of Ra Devil, it can be only reached by a Hiryuu Dragon.

[edit] Interdimensional Rift

The final dimensional region, also known as the N-Zone in the Anthologies version. It was created by Enuo during his time in power 1,000 years ago. It consumed Phantom Village at some point, transporting it to the current time period unchanged. There are multiple areas to traverse and many bosses holding the way to Exdeath. The original world was split in two (by splitting the original Crystals) in an attempt to seal away this dimension.

  • Beach -- much like the shifting sand maze area in Bartz's world. An extra-powerful regular monster is thrown in with a standard complement of enemy encounters here, much like the desert in Bartz's world risked meeting the Dhorme Chimera. At the end of this stretch, Exdeath's generals will appear and taunt the heroes before assigning themselves to the areas ahead.
  • Ruins -- This area looks like the Ancient Base.
  • Phantom Village-- the village is frozen and its facilities cannot be used, although there is a pot of healing water that is available for use. The player is unable to speak with any of the townspeople.
  • Forest -- The area resembles the Forest of Moore. Calofisteri, the first boss of the final dungeon, waits in the passage to the next area.
  • Cave -- a short, standard cavern area with many waterfalls. The optional boss Omega wanders around here, and will most likely kill an unprepared party with its powerful first attack. A room at the end contains a required boss, Apanda, who looks similar to Byblos, is also sealed in a book and has a similar fighting style.
  • Floating Castle -- invisible walkways span between platforms. Both this area and the following have a large number of samurai and ninja enemy encounters.
  • Dimension Castle -- a literal gauntlet of bosses. In the basement is Azulmagia, who controls the save point, a group of mini-bosses named Alte Roite who guard treasure in the cells, and Catastrophe, who appears when you try and exit the room. Halicarnassus is the King of Dimension Castle, and meets you at the top floor. Behind him at the entrance to the Void is Twintania, who has a weakness to the summon Odin when charging up his Giga Flare.
  • The Void -- a series of crystalline platforms floating amid the void. Gilgamesh is here after having been banished by Exdeath after your previous battle with him. He decides not to continue fighting you, and later sacrifices his life to help you destroy Necrophobe, an optional boss that guards the last save point in the Void. A second optional boss, the incredibly powerful Shinryu, waits in a treasure chest here.
