- 21 July 1822 - 19 March 1823: Agustín de Iturbide, former insurrection leader, deposed and executed on 19 July 1824.

- 1824 - 1866: Agustin Jerónimo de Iturbide y Huarte, pretender to the throne.
[edit] Second Mexican Empire
- 10 April 1864 - 19 June 1867: Archduke Maximilian of Austria, deposed and executed by republican forces.

- 1867 - 1925: Agustín de Iturbide y Green declared heir of Maximillian I, also known as Agustín III.
- 1925 - 1949: Maria Josepha Sophia de Iturbide daughter of Prince Salvador de Iturbide y de Marzán.
- 1949 - present: Maximilian von Goetzen-Iturbide.
