[edit] Lelouch Lamperouge (ルルーシュ・ランペルージ Rurūshu Ranperūji?) Seiyū: Jun Fukuyama (Childhood period: Sayaka Ohara)

Lelouch Lamperouge
Lelouch Lamperouge
  • Nicknames: "Black Prince", "Zero", "Lelou"
  • Age: 17
  • Nationality: Britannian
  • Date of birth: December 5, 1999 a.t.b
  • Zodiac sign: Sagittarius
  • Blood type: A
  • Height: 178cm (5'10")
  • School grade: 2nd year (11th grade)
Seemingly an ordinary 17-year-old student at the Ashford Academy, Lelouch Lamperouge, also called Lelou (ルル Ruru?) by his friends, is in fact the son of the Emperor of Britannia and the late Empress Marianne and a member of the Britannia Imperial Family. His real name is Lelouch Vi Britannia (ルルーシュ・ヴィ・ブリタニア?) and he was the eleventh prince and seventeenth in line for the throne prior to his mother's assassination and his sister's crippling in the same incident. A 10-year-old Lelouch confronted the Emperor afterwards and accused him of leaving his mother defenseless. In response, his father declared him stripped of his status as prince and banished him to Japan, where he was used as a political hostage over the mineral sakuradite conflict. It was during his stay at the prime minister's house that he befriended Suzaku Kururugi. However, when Britannia finally developed its Knightmare Frames fleet and decided to invade Japan to seize control of the Sakuradite mines, consequently discarding Lelouch's use as a diplomatic tool, Lelouch, fearing for his and his sister's safety, hid their true identity and reverted to their mother's maiden name, Lamperouge, seeking the help of the Ashford family, who were his mother's allies. Only the Ashford family members and Suzaku Kururugi know his true name, while Euphemia analyzed and discover his real identity.
Lelouch believes the world has been thrown in a vicious circle of violence and oppression that can only be broken if someone dared to step forth, work against it, and win. A brilliant thinker and very talented at chess, Lelouch is a member of Ashford Academy's student council who can easily become the top honors student, but he chooses to do slightly worse to avoid attention. One day, he receives the Power of Geass from C.C., which allows him to make people completely obey his orders. The power later evolves after continuous use and becomes permanently activated. To pursue his quest against Britannia, he dons a black helmet and cloak and assumes the secret identity of a mysterious, masked activist he baptizes Zero (ゼロ?). He later creates The Black Knights by allying himself with Kallen's resistance group, starting a terrorist campaign against powerful individuals who oppress the helpless. He is willing to do whatever it takes to collapse the Empire, even if it means lying to his followers, using people as bait for the outcome he desires. However, it is difficult for him to execute his meticulous plans when he knows or discovers those close to him may suffer from the results, which is a weakness as a commander but a remnant of his humanity and sanity. The true purposes of Lelouch's rebellion are to obtain revenge for his mother and construct an ideal world where his sister Nunnally can live in peace.

[edit] Suzaku Kururugi (枢木 スザク Kururugi Suzaku?) Seiyū: Takahiro Sakurai (Childhood period: Akeno Watanabe)

Suzaku Kururugi
Suzaku Kururugi
  • Nickname: "White Knight"
  • Age: 17
  • Nationality: Eleven
  • Date of birth: July 10, 2000 a.t.b
  • Zodiac Sign: Cancer
  • Blood type: O
  • Height: 176cm (5'9")
Lelouch's childhood friend and son of Japan's last prime minister, Genbu Kururugi. For reasons unknown, Suzaku's existence was kept a secret from the public until after the war. After Britannia's invasion of Japan, Suzaku joins the Britannia Army and becomes an Honorary Britannian, and later, the pilot of the Lancelot, as a member of its R&D Division. He always keeps with him a broken pocket watch, a memento of his deceased father. He agrees with Zero on the latter's assertion that the Britannia Empire is corrupt and not worth serving, but wants to nevertheless change and improve the Empire from within, to show that his father's death was not in vain. This is because, Suzaku claims, achieving results by wrong or illegal methods is meaningless. In a twist of fate, Suzaku becomes the pilot of Lancelot during the Shinjuku ghetto debacle, due to the fact that it is 'experimental,' so Knights (Knightmare Frame pilots) were not an option. After Lloyd had Suzaku tested if he could even pilot a Knightmare Frame, it was revealed that based on his evaluation score, Suzaku was a top-class operator. After the incident, he becomes a scapegoat for the death of Prince Clovis in episode three, in a plan apparently engineered by Margrave Jeremiah Gottwald. He is acquitted, and enrolled into Ashford Academy, by Euphemia's suggestion. His rank within the military was initially Private, but he is later promoted to Warrant Officer by Cornelia when she first arrived in Japan. Despite his position in the Britannian Army, he still regards Lelouch as a friend.
An incident in episode 16 between Suzaku and Mao results in the latter revealing that Suzaku murdered his own father, during the immediate aftermath of Britannia's invasion of Japan, when Suzaku, horrified by the country's devastation due to the war tried to convince his father to surrender. Suzaku stabbed him after his father backhanded him away and refused to surrender, opting instead for a do-or-die resistance. The incident was covered up and Suzaku was spared, while the government was thrown into disarray and surrendered to Britannia. Lelouch justified this as Kirihara of the Kyoto group stated that Kururugi Genbu’s death suppressed the hardline faction's call to resist to the bitter end. Moreover, he claims as Zero, prolonged resistance would have had the Chinese and Europeans intervene in the war to split Japan into 3 sectors, embroiling it in a continuous war. Thus, Suzaku believe the death of his father was necessary for Japan, even though he also believes that the ends achieved by wrong means are meaningless. Since approving of what Zero is doing now would also mean his actions against his father were for naught, he still serves in the Britannian army. Mao feels Suzaku was lying to himself all the time, and claims he places others before himself and lives on the verge of death, wishing he would die. (In another note, for Lelouch himself, Japanese resistance is intense compared to the other countries because Japan surrendered when it still had some strength left. These soldiers retreated and formed the resistance groups that would eventually be wiped out or be assimilated into the Black Knights, augmenting its strength.)
Suzaku's position as the Lancelot's pilot was revealed to everyone during a battle with his former instructor Kyōshirō Tōdō, the immediate aftermath of which he was chosen by Princess Euphemia to become her Knight, granting him the rank of Major. During the battle on Shikinejima Island, Lelouch is forced to use the power of Geass on Suzaku and commands him to "Live". As the command gives no time or event limitations, it activates within Suzaku every time when he feels suicidal and deters him from doing so. It also appears that Suzaku has an undefined connection to the Geass (maybe due to his earlier contact with C.C.), which allows him to "sense" individuals strongly related to the Geass such as C.C. and V.V.

[edit] C.C. (シー・ツー Shī・Tsū?) Seiyū: Yukana

C.C.
C.C.
  • Nickname: "Gray Witch"
  • Age: 16 (in appearance)
  • Height: 160 cm (5'3")
A mysterious green-haired girl who bestows the power of Geass upon Lelouch under the condition that he would grant her greatest wish. She passively oversees Lelouch's missions to ensure that he does not die. Those abilities caught the interest of Britannia and she was imprisoned as a part of Britannia's experimentation in the past. C.C. appears to be in her teens, but she actually has been living for hundreds of years. In the past, she has observed Suzaku and Lelouch when they were both children. The former Resistance group steals the capsule encasing her from the Britannia Army in Area 11, which leads to Lelouch's reencounter with C.C. When Lelouch came into contact with her while she was using image shock on Suzaku, he is accidentally shown parts of her memories, which included a woman with a sigil similar to her own, and hints of a bloody conflict. C.C. has a stigmata under her left breast, which takes the same shape as the sigil on her forehead. She involuntarily revealed her real name to Lelouch in her sleep. When left alone, she sometimes speaks to an unknown person or persons through means unknown, and in recent episode was revealed to be Marianne. C.C. is a member of the Black Knights, but her willful attitude and lack of an official posting annoys several veterans; at one point, Tamaki goes so far as to accuse her of being a member only because she's Zero's lover, a claim which she denies. When Lelouch heads to Kyūshū to battle the Chinese-supported rebellion, C.C. co-pilots the Gawain with him, apparently handling the actual piloting while Lelouch operates the weapons. She also has a penchant for pizzas. In episode 23 she has shown compassion, comforting Lelouch under the weight of his recent actions.
C.C.'s abilities
C.C. has impressive regenerative abilities, allowing her to recover from fatal wounds and making her nearly immortal. She cannot use the power of Geass but has Geass-related abilities, such as rapidly displaying a series of ominous and chaotic images in another person's mind by direct contact, though it also works through clothing and even a Knightmare Frame. She can also project a hologram of herself that is only visible to selected people, for which the selection criteria are still unknown.

[edit] The Black Knights

From left to right: The Shisei-ken, C.C., Tōdō, Kallen, Zero, Tamaki, Ōgi, Diethard, Laksharta, Kaguya, and Kirihara.
From left to right: The Shisei-ken, C.C., Tōdō, Kallen, Zero, Tamaki, Ōgi, Diethard, Laksharta, Kaguya, and Kirihara.

The Black Knights (黒の騎士団 Kuro no Kishidan?) is a group of revolutionaries originally named Resistance which strove to liberate Area 11 from Britannia and to restore it to Japan. When Lelouch (as Zero) takes over the group under his command and introduces them to the world, he announces that their goal is to "help those without power who are threatened by the more powerful".

[edit] Kallen Stadtfeld / Karen Kōzuki (紅月カレン Kōzuki Karen?) Seiyū: Ami Koshimizu

Kallen Stadtfeld
Kallen Stadtfeld
  • Age: 17
  • Zodiac Sign: Aries
  • Blood Type: B
  • Height: 160cm (5'3")
A Britannian-Eleven girl, who believes herself to be a Japanese person at heart and prefers to be known by her birth name, Karen Kōzuki (紅月カレン Kōzuki Karen?). She is currently the leader of the Zero squadron (consisting of Zero's bodyguards) of The Black Knights, and is amongst its most talented pilots. She comes from a prestigious Britannian family and attends the Ashford Academy, where she is a member of its student council and amongst its most outstanding stutdents. Her brother, Naoto Kōzuki (紅月ナオト Kōzuki Naoto?), with whom she had a deep connection, was a former leader of the resistance organization and died in the past. When away from the Academy, she fights as an anti-Britannian operative. In the second episode, she is unknowingly assisted by Lelouch in Shinjuku (who, via the transmission of radio-based instructions, helped her defeat the Britannian forces chasing her) but is currently unaware of his true identity. She had initially suspected Lelouch of being the one who helped her in Shinjuku, but Lelouch tricks her by playing a recorded message of himself on the telephone, drawing her suspicions off him. Kallen appears to be trusted greatly by Lelouch, as he offers to reveal his true identity to her as early as in episode 13 (which she refuses), and she greatly admires Zero, evident in her ecstatic reaction to her appointment as head of the Zero squadron in episode 18.
She later joins The Black Knights and receives her own Knightmare Frame, the Guren Nishiki, to replace the Glasglow she had lost while protecting her mother. Kallen has stayed loyal to Zero ever since. Both Kallen's stepmother and biological mother live with her in the same house, but her biological mother is employed as a maid and is often mistreated by both the stepmother and Kallen. Kallen now fights against the Britannia Empire to fulfill her wish for a world in which she can live happily with her mother. Piloting the Guren Nishiki, Kallen defeated and almost killed Jeremiah Gottwald. Kallen also managed to defeat Cornelia li Britannia but failed to capture her due to the interference of Suzaku, piloting the Lancelot. Kallen even exhibits that she is capable of fighting against Suzaku Kururugi in his Lancelot equally. Her devotion to Zero is greatly shown when she attempts to assassinate Suzaku at a school party for Zero, even risking her life to save Zero by trying to reveal her identity to Suzaku in the battle at Shikinejima island. Her identity was exposed when Suzaku accidentally finds Kallen bathing herself by a waterfall situated in a nearby island, Kame ne Jima, in which they find themselves during the aftermath of the battle of Shikinejima. She is one of the few people who knows that Suzaku killed his father.

[edit] Kyōshirō Tōdō (藤堂 鏡志朗 Tōdō Kyōshirō?) Seiyū: Yūji Takada

Kyōshirō Tōdō
Kyōshirō Tōdō
  • Age: 37
The head of military operations at The Black Knights, Kyōshirō Tōdō is a chequered former general. He is nicknamed Kiseki no Tōdō (奇跡の藤堂? lit. Tōdō of Miracles) due to him being the only person to have won a battle against the Empire of Britannia during the war and most remarkably with the lack of Frames at his disposal. This event would later be known as the miracle of Itsukushima. He is followed by the Shisei-ken (四聖剣? lit. Four Holy Swords), an elite unit consisting of four of his most devoted followers. He was recently captured by Britannian forces and was scheduled for execution until he was freed by Zero, The Black Knights and the Shisei-ken. He is an extremely talented fighter, and was Suzaku Kururugi's former instructor when he was a child. Tōdō is often seen bearing a katana at his side.
From left to right: Ryōga Senba, Kōsetsu Urabe, Shōgo Asahina, Nagisa Chiba, and Kyōshirō Tōdō, alongside their Gekka Knightmare Frames.

[edit] Kaname Ōgi (扇 要 Ōgi Kaname?) Seiyū: Mitsuaki Madono

Kaname Ogi
Kaname Ogi
  • Age: 26
  • Zodiac Sign: Pisces
  • Blood Type: O
The deputy commander of The Black Knights, he was friends with Kallen's older brother, Naoto. He was the leader of the Resistance, but upon recognizing Zero's leadership, intelligence, and tactical skills, he handed over the leadership of the Resistance, now known as The Black Knights, willingly to Zero. He finds Villetta Nu at a shipdock after she was shot by Shirley, and nurses her back to health. It has been hinted that the two of them became lovers after the Ashford Academy's Festival. Because of this, he harbored hopes that Euphemia's Special Administration Region in Japan would work out. When Zero announced that it was all an scheme of Britannia, he became visibly devastated. At some time in the past, Ōgi was a teacher, and left his position to fulfill the dream of his childhood friend, Naoto.

[edit] Diethard Ried (ディートハルト・リート Dītoharuto Rīto?) Seiyū: Jouji Nakata

Diethard Ried
Diethard Ried
  • Age: 31
  • Zodiac Sign: Aquarius
  • Blood Type: AB
The head of information, espionage, and public relations at The Black Knights. A former producer and member of the Press Bureau Staff of Hi-TV, a Britannian television station, he is a graduate of the Imperial Britannia Central University's Faculty of Law. He was extremely interested in Zero when he first announced himself and his goals to the public, and later joins the Black Knights. His reasons for this was that he saw Zero as a new generation that would rule the world, regardless of the cost, and he wishes to be able to document it. When asked by Laksharta on why he shows no loyalty for Britannia, it is because he considers it a finished subject matter.

[edit] Laksharta (ラクシャータ Rakushāta?) Seiyū: Masayo Kurata

Laksharta
Laksharta
A scientist and developer, creator of the Knightmare Frame, Guren Nishiki, and head of technology and development at The Black Knights. She is also noted for her extensive work on medical cybernetics, and appears to have been a former acquaintance of Lloyd and Cecile. When Zero met Laksharta for the first time, he notes that she is not fond of speaking about the past. She also made the new jumpsuits for the pilots of the Black Knights, which increases their survival rate substantially. Her works also include the Fukushahadō (輻射波動 lit. radiation surge?) weapon on the right arm of the Guren Nishiki and the Gefjun Disturber (used against Suzaku in episode 18 to disable the Lancelot). She was also able to upgrade the Gawain Knightmare Frame to a fully-operational unit.

[edit] Shinichirō Tamaki (玉城 真一郎 Tamaki Shinichirō?) Seiyū: Kazunari Tanaka

  • Age: 24
The hot-headed member of The Black Knights, he was initially skeptical about Zero and his plans. He is currently the leader of the second special squad at The Black Knights. Despite his skepticism, he shows strong support for Zero once the masked man reveals the Black Knights' ultimate goal. He dreams of being a bureaucrat, and has said that if he didn't have his dream to aim for, he would probably have become a Refrain abuser.

[edit] Kyōto

The Kyōto house is a secret society of Japanese individuals working against Britannia, which seeks to restore Japan to the way it was before the Britannian invasion. They have supported anti-Britannian resistance groups such as the former Japanese Liberation Front organization and, currently, The Black Knights. The Kyōto House supplies these groups with equipment, supplies, and even Knightmare Frames such as the Burai, Gekka, and Guren Nishiki, to help in their struggles against Britannia. It is headed by the industrialist Taizō Kirihara.

[edit] Taizō Kirihara (桐原泰三 Kirihara Taizō?) Seiyū: Shinpachi Tsuji

Taizō Kirihara
Taizō Kirihara
An elderly industrialist, who was most influential in the mining of the Sakuradite, and founder of the Kirihara Industries (桐原産業 Kirihara Sangyō?). During the years of the Kururugi Administration, he was one of its most influential people and administrators behind the scenes. After Britannia's invasion, he appeared publicly in support of its rule and the colonization of Area 11, being known publicly as a traitor, however secretly, he managed the resistance movements against Britannian rule and was leader of the Kyōto house. He had known both Nunnally and Lelouch when they first visited the Kururugi Shrine, and knows of Lelouch's identity as Zero, and has given support and assistance to him in his struggle against the Britannia Empire.

[edit] Kaguya Sumeragi (皇神楽耶 Sumeragi Kaguya?) Seiyū: Mika Kanai

Kaguya Sumeragi
Kaguya Sumeragi
The young head mistress of the Kyōto house, and a supporter of The Black Knights. Kaguya begins to admire Zero after he saves Suzaku from being wrongfully accused of Prince Clovis' murder. Her age and physique lead other people to believe that she is merely a figurehead of the Kyoto Group, but she proves to have a strong will within.
She has had an apparent infatuation with Zero ever since his debut and upon their meeting, she reveals her intention to marry him and believes he will win the war against Britannia as she is the "Goddess of Victory". Kaguya lived with Lelouch, Nunnally, and Suzaku during their childhood days at the Kururugi Shrine.

[edit] Japan Liberation Front

The Japan Liberation Front (日本解放戦線 Nippon Kaihō Sensen?) is another anti-Britannia organization, which operates separately from the others, consisting primary of former Japanese military personnel. They are also the biggest anti-Britannia organization in Japan/Area 11; before The Black Knights, the group in Kyoto gave the best weapons and information to them. A faction from their organization, led by Kusakabe, took control of a Britannian tourist destination, the Lake Kawaguchi Convention Center Hotel, taking a group of Britannian citizens hostage. Toudo and his Shisei-ken were originally associated with this organization but joined The Black Knights after he was persuaded by Zero, who was in the process of rescuing him from execution by Britannia. Most of the members of the Japan Liberation Front have lost their lives during the Lake Kawaguchi Convention Center Hotel incident and when Britannian forces ambushed what seemed to be the remnants of the Japan Liberation Front on Takehiro Koyama's warship. The group has been assumed to be eliminated by the Britannian military.

[edit] Katase (片瀬?) Seiyū: Takehiro Koyama

The leader and general of the Nippon Kaihō Sensen. He dies in episode 13, during the midst of a raid launched by Britannian forces against his warship.

[edit] Kusakabe (草壁?) Seiyū: Masuo Amada

Former lieutenant general and a comrade of Tōdō. Seeking to draw attention to the fight the Nippon Kaihō Sensen is attempting against Britannia, he took several Britannian citizens and students hostages at the Lake Kawaguchi Convention Center Hotel, while meeting Zero and Tōdō's strong disapproval as a result. Under the influence of the geass, he is later forced to kill himself via impalement.

[edit] Britannia Empire

Several members of the Britannian military including: Darlton, Guilford, Cornelia, Euphemia, Suzaku, Lloyd, Cecil, Jeremiah, Villetta and Kewell.
Several members of the Britannian military including: Darlton, Guilford, Cornelia, Euphemia, Suzaku, Lloyd, Cecil, Jeremiah, Villetta and Kewell.

A royal kingdom and international superpower, which possesses about one-third of the entire world. Territories under Britannian rule include Area 11, North America, Indonesia, islands from the Pacific Ocean and a Middle Eastern-like country, recently conquered and renamed as Area 18. The Britannia flag features a lion and a snake intertwined, and they represent "king" and "death and rebirth" respectively.

[edit] Imperial Family

The numerical order of the princes and princesses of the imperial family is given by the status of their mothers, or the queens. For example, Cornelia and Euphemia are the Second and the Third Princess, respectively, while Lelouch is only the Seventeenth Prince. It can be inferred that the Cornelia and Euphemia's mother had a higher status than Marianne Vi Britannia, the mother of Lelouch and Nunnally. Also, the numbering of the imperial princes and princesses is sorted by gender. For example, Euphemia is the Third Princess and Clovis is the Third Prince.

[edit] The Emperor of Britannia (ブリタニア皇帝 Buritania Kōtei?) Seiyū: Norio Wakamoto

Emperor of Britannia
Emperor of Britannia
  • Age: 62
The emperor of the Britannia Empire and Lelouch's father. He installs his children in important positions in the Empire to see their true abilities. He views equality as an evil that must be dispelled and encourages social battle to maintain evolution within the society. As such, he publicly supports inequality and calls for competition and fighting so as to create progress. Shortly after his mother's death, Lelouch questioned why the Emperor did not try to protect Marianne. Irritated with Lelouch and considering his son to be nothing without him, the Emperor sends both Lelouch and Nunnally to Japan as political hostages.

It is speculated he has some kind of Geass, currently thought to be the ability to talk to the dead, as he has claimed to "have spoken with Clovis" days after Clovis had been killed, and appears to have knowledge of other recent events as soon as they happen,

[edit] Marianne Vi Britannia (マリアンヌ・ヴィ・ブリタニア Mariannu Vi Buritania?)

A portrait of Marianne Vi Britannia and her children.
A portrait of Marianne Vi Britannia and her children.
The late empress of the Britannia Empire and the mother of Lelouch and Nunnally. Her commoner status by birth caused her to earn the jealousy of other imperial wives and nobles, which Lelouch suspects had resulted in her murder. Lelouch's investigation revealed, however, that several members of the Imperial House not related to her by blood respected and admired Empress Marianne, for example, Clovis, Euphemia and, first of all, Cornelia, who idolized her and put a lot of fruitless effort into investigating the assassination. Marianne's maiden name, Lamperouge, would later be adopted by her children in order to hide their true identities. It is hinted that her supporters were the Ashford family, which explains why their social statuses were ruined after her death and why they consented to protect Lelouch and Nunnally. She had also piloted one of the earliest Knightmare Frames, the Ganymede, which was developed by the Ashford family and was nicknamed "The Flash of Lightning". In a recent episode, it is also revealed that C.C. was talking to is Marianne herself (through her telepathy), though she may not be necessary be alive in traditional sense.

[edit] Schneizel El Britannia (シュナイゼル・エル・ブリタニア Shunaizeru Eru Buritania?) Seiyū: Norihiro Inoue

Schneizel El Britannia
Schneizel El Britannia
  • Nickname: "White Prince"
  • Age: 29
The second prince of the Britannia Imperial Family. When questioned by Lelouch, Clovis suggests that he knows the truth regarding Marianne's murder. Schneizel was also briefly seen during the funeral of Clovis and is known to be the patron of Lloyd Asplund. As Nunnally points out, he was the only person who could beat Lelouch in chess. The Emperor, despite being aware of the fact that Schneizel intends to challenge him, seems to be lenient toward Schneizel and lets his son do anything as he pleases. He is later seen commanding his battleship, Avalon, in the battle at Shikinejima and piloting an experimental Knightmare Frame Gawain. While cold and more than willing to seize the moment to achieve his goals (displayed by his ordering the Gawain to bombard Shikinejima where Suzaku Kururugi, Euphemia's knight, was engaged in combat), he is a charismatic character and has maintained a cordial and caring image in front of people such as his sisters, Euphemia and Cornelia, and Lloyd and Cecile. He also steps in and helps out Suzaku who was charged for disobeying orders during the Shikinejima incident and trusts him with the new weapons for Lancelot.
Despite his seemingly calculating nature, he supports Euphemia's idea of creating a special administrative region for the Elevens, but fails to mention it to Cornelia which he told her he would. However, his reasoning is later revealed when Schneizel was negotiating with the Chinese Federation; he believed that the plan would weaken the support for the terrorists' groups in Area 11, thus helping to pacify the region and restore public order and even eliminate the Black Knights. This is strengthened by the fact that after the declaration, the Black Knights found themselves losing supporters. Thus, Schneizel compliments Euphemia for plan, but is shocked and horrified when he sees her acting uncharacteristically (due to Lelouch's accidental Geass) and killing the Japanese people.

[edit] Clovis La Britannia (クロヴィス・ラ・ブリタニア Kurovisu Ra Buritania?) Seiyū: Nobuo Tobita

Clovis La Britannia
Clovis La Britannia
  • Age: 24
  • Zodiac Sign: Libra
  • Blood Type: O
The third prince of the Britannian Imperial Family and the former governor of Area 11, he was Lelouch's older half-brother and enjoys art, especially painting. He also had a relatively good relationship with Lelouch's family when Lelouch was still a prince - Clovis always took the time to visit Lelouch and play chess with him. Although he lost time after time, he wasn't discouraged and viewed Lelouch as a rival in chess. He later went to Area 11 in order to become the governor there because he had heard of Lelouch's 'death' there. Clovis is timid by nature, but his narcissistic attitude and disdain of the Elevens (displayed by his not hesitating in ordering the complete eradication of the Shinjuku ghetto, despite the presence of civilians inside) gave Lelouch Lamperouge an opportunity to start throwing the Britannian Imperial Family, as well as the Empire of Britannia itself, into turmoil; of all members of the Britannian royal family, he has the distinction of being both the first to learn that Lelouch is alive and the first to become a casualty of Lelouch's revenge, as Lelouch pulls the trigger on him after extracting from him the first clue about Marianne's murder with the power of Geass.

[edit] Cornelia Li Britannia (コーネリア・リ・ブリタニア Kōneria Ri Buritania?) Seiyū: Junko Minagawa

Cornelia Li Britannia
Cornelia Li Britannia
  • Age: 27
  • Zodiac Sign: Capricorn
  • Blood Type: O
The second princess of the Britannia Imperial Family and, as such, Lelouch's half-sister. She is extremely skilled in Knightmare Frame combat and completed the establishment of Area 18 shortly before arriving in Area 11. Cornelia is the Governor-General and the Chief General of the Imperial Army and goes to Area 11 to apprehend Clovis' murderer, the mysterious Zero, as well as avenging Lelouch and Nunnally (unaware of the fact that they survived their predicament as political hostages) by putting an end to the conflict there- in fact, this loss of the three siblings seems to be the source of her distrust toward foreigners and Honourary Britannians. She, having earned the nickname Witch of Britannia, pilots a customized Gloucester Knightmare Frame and has her own circle of devoted officers. As a child, she appeared to have doted upon her younger sister Euphemia; as a result, Euphemia is Cornelia's only known weak spot. Clovis believes that she and Prince Schneizel knew about the truth regarding the murder of Marianne Vi Britannia, although Euphemia later tells Lelouch that Cornelia has long admired Marianne and conducted investigations on the murder.

[edit] Euphemia Li Britannia (ユーフェミア・リ・ブリタニア Yūfemia Ri Buritania?) Seiyū: Omi Minami

Euphemia Li Britannia
Euphemia Li Britannia
  • Nickname: Euphie (ユフィ Yufi?)
  • Age: 16
  • Zodiac Sign: Libra
  • Blood Type: B
The third princess of the Britannia Imperial Family. Lelouch's half-sister and innocent to a fault. She used Clovis' death as an excuse to enter Area 11 and is known for loving and conversing with animals. After meeting Suzaku, she request his assistance to prevent any unnecessary deaths around her. During the Lake Kawaguchi Convention Center Hotel incident, Lelouch (as Zero) notes that she has not changed since childhood and is not surprised to see her offering herself as a hostage in exchange for the safety of other people. Euphemia is the Lieutenant-Governor of Area 11, a role she admittedly does not enjoy. She admires her older sister, Cornelia, but despises all combat in general. Her ideals conflict with the reality and puts her in a similar situation to Suzaku's, a situation that aided in her decision of choosing Suzaku Kururugi as her Knight. Cornelia is quite worried that her ideals can get her into trouble, however, warning her that the policy of discrimination against Honorary Britannians is so firmly-established that she might have to be exposed to the rigors and dangers of competing for the throne in order to challenge it. She is also capable of piloting a Knightmare Frame, as seen in the battle at the Empire's Shikinejima Island Base.
Euphemia is the second person in the royal family to know that Lelouch is alive and first to know his alter ego as Zero, having deduced it after the hotel hijacking incident. Euphemia was quite close to Lelouch and Nunnally in the past and wishes to live those days once again, so she declares the establishment of a Special Administration Region in Japan. Lelouch initially opposes this proposal, but Euphemia eventually convinces him otherwise when she reveals that she is doing it for the sake of Nunnally and has abdicated her right to succeed the Britannian throne. Lelouch jokingly orders her to kill the Japanese people just as his power of Geass permanently activates, causing her and the Britannia army to massacre scores of them. Lelouch fatally shoots her to end her rampage and she shares her last moments with Suzaku. Euphemia dies believing that the Japanese people are happy with the Japan that she created.

[edit] Jeremiah Gottwald (ジェレミア・ゴットバルト Jeremia Gottobaruto?) Seiyū: Ken Narita

Jeremiah Gottwald
Jeremiah Gottwald
  • Age: 28
  • Zodiac Sign: Leo
  • Blood Type: A
  • Nickname: Orange(-kun)
An elite Knightmare Frame pilot and a Purist, who is deeply concerned with the Purists' supremacy - enough to use Suzaku as a scapegoat for both avenging Clovis' death and reinforcing the Purists' superiority in Area 11. Initially, he held the rank of Margrave in Area 11's military hierarchy. After Clovis' murder, Jeremiah takes upon the role of Area 11's Acting-Consul, but upon the Zero fiasco, Jeremiah falls into disgrace (due to his incomprehensible actions caused by Lelouch's geass), is targeted for termination by his fellow Purist officers and demoted to the rank of a mere Knightmare Frame pilot. Because Zero used "orange" as a codeword during the incident (which Lelouch later admitted was completely arbitrary), Jerimiah's superiors and his fellow knightmare pilots refer to him as "Orange" or "Orange-kun" as a way of mocking him, though Villetta remains loyal to him. Although he barely manages to escape alive in his nigh-inoperable escape pod, his defeat at the hands of Kallen and the effects of her Guren's radiation waves at the Narita Mountains have left him mentally unhinged, and officially he is listed as killed in action because everything suggesting otherwise was lost along with his Knightmare's signal. In truth however, Jeremiah appears to have been rescued by Prince Schneizel's team of scientists and has apparently undergone experiments conducted on his body. This has resulted in cybernetic parts being attached to the entire left side of his body.

[edit] Villetta Nu (ヴィレッタ・ヌゥ Viretta Nū?) Seiyū: Akeno Watanabe

Villetta Nu
Villetta Nu
  • Age: 26
  • Zodiac Sign: Gemini
  • Blood Type: B
An elite Knightmare Frame pilot and a Purist, who appears to be more collected than Jeremiah in battle. She was one of the first to have been under the power of Geass' influence and is one of the few still loyal to Jeremiah even after his fall in disgrace, though this was out of her own ambition. Nevertheless, she continues her investigation into The Black Knights and attempts to find out the identity of the student who stole her Sutherland, with the help of Shirley Fenette, and nearly succeeds, but Shirley shoots her to protect Lelouch. Ōgi rescues the unconscious and injured Villetta without knowing her identity and tends to her wounds. When Villetta regains consciousness and is unable to recall her own name, Ōgi realizes that she has amnesia. She is under Ōgi's care and appears to be enamored with him.

[edit] Kewell Soresi (キューエル・ソレーシー Kyūeru Sorēshī?) Seiyū: Yasuyuki Kase

One of the members of the Imperial Army. He belongs to the Purist faction in the military and stood by Jeremiah's side in scapegoating Suzaku Kururugi. After the first appearance of Zero and Jeremiah's incomprehensible actions that lead to the escape of the terrorists with Suzaku, he led the rest of the Purist officers in an unsuccessful attempt at killing Jeremiah. He finally meets his end at the hand of the Guren Nishiki piloted by Kallen when his knightmare's ejection seat fails him.

Lloyd Asplund
Lloyd Asplund
  • Nickname: "Pudding Earl"
  • Age: 29
  • Zodiac Sign: Aquarius
  • Blood Type: AB
The developer of the elite Knightmare Frame Lancelot. His heart and soul are fully immersed in science, so much that he views Suzaku as a tool and part of the Frame that he pilots. As a part of the Britannia military he and his team don't belong to the regular forces that are located in Area 11. Instead he has been given permission by the second prince of the Britannia Imperial Family, Schneizel El Britannia, to operate there and beyond the regular rules of the Britannia military (such as the laws forbidding the honorary citizens from piloting Knightmares). He has tendency of speaking mockingly toward others, which leads him to being scolded by Cecile sometimes. He was revealed to be an earl of Britannian nobility and is nominated to wed Milly Ashford.

A kind-hearted woman, she is a good friend to Suzaku, helping him in his studies and making food for him such as onigiri mixed with blueberry jam, which Suzaku views with distaste though he is too nice to tell her the truth. She does not appear to hold herself back when scolding Lloyd for his rudeness, resulting in bruising for the latter.

[edit] Bartley Asprius (バトレー・アスプリウス Batorē Asupuriusu?) Seiyū: Katsuhisa Hōki

A balding army general, Bartley was one of the few who knew about the secret of the capsule stolen by the Resistance and the research conducted by the scientists at Area 11. After the assassination of Clovis, he was apparently stripped of his rank and sent back to Britannia as a prisoner, but recently made his return to the military under the command of Prince Schneizel.

[edit] Andreas Darlton (アンドレアス・ダールトン Andoreasu Dāruton?) Seiyū: Kiyoyuki Yanada

A loyal confidante and close subordinate of Princess Cornelia. An extremely tall and well-built man with a diagonal scar running across his face, Darlton visits Area 11 as part of Cornelia's drive against Zero. Darlton was one of the few Britannians that actually approved Suzaku's ascension to knighthood.

[edit] Gilbert G.P. Guilford (ギルバート・G・P・ギルフォード Girubāto. G. P. Girufōdo?) Seiyū: Yoshiyuki Kōno

A loyal confidante and close subordinate of Princess Cornelia. A slender, dark-haired and bespectacled man, Guilford visits Area 11 as part of Princess Cornelia's drive against Zero, and later informs Jeremiah Gottwald of the latter's demotion, giving him a choice of either restarting his career as a Knightmare Frame pilot or cultivating an orange field. Guilford is also Princess Cornelia's personal Knight.

Mao tries to use Shirley in her unstable condition to kill Lelouch but fails. To end her suffering, Lelouch uses his Geass power on Shirley and erases his existence from her memories. She currently regards Lelouch as a stranger in her life, only recently finding out that the two have been going to classes together for some time. This new attitude of hers is questioned by Milly, but Lelouch puts it off and tells Milly as a result of relationship issues and argument between him and Shirley. Later, Shirley is seen finding the note she wrote in the past about Lelouch and her father, wherein she rediscovers Lelouch's identity as Zero. She tries to confront Lelouch about it, but has failed so far.

This action, however, led to the family's nobility status being stripped. The Ashford family, wanting to restore their status, have two options in doing so. One is to reinstate Lelouch and Nunnally back into the royal family, while the second option is arrange a marriage to a noble. They use the arranged marriage route, using Milly. The interview goes ahead and the man her parents wish for her to marry is Lloyd Asplund. In the second picture drama special included on the DVD release, it is revealed that her grandfather and Nina's grandfather worked on the Io and Ganymede type Knightmare Frames.

Recently, it has been revealed that she is working as Diethard Ried's spy in Ashford Academy.

[edit] Genbu Kururugi (枢木 玄武 Kururugi Genbu?)

Suzaku's late father and the last prime minister of Japan. 7 years prior to the story, Lelouch and Nunnally were sent into his household. [edit] Mao (マオ Mao?) Seiyū: Takeshi Kusao

Mao
Mao
  • Age: 17
A young Chinese man who is also given the power of Geass, at the age of 6 by C.C. His Geass power differs from Lelouch's in that he has the ability to read the minds of other people without direct eye contact. Mao is mentally unstable due to the power of his Geass locked in activation after his prolonged use and causes him to hear the thoughts of every person within 500m of him. He wears headphones that repeatedly play recorded words of encouragement and gratitude from C.C. during his younger days so that voices from the many people around him doesn't drive him immobile from mental pain. When Mao finally finds C.C. in Area 11, she tries to get rid of him in an amusement park but fails and Lelouch ends up rescuing her from Mao's chainsaw and using his Geass to make police officers shoot Mao.
Lelouch's lack of precision in his intended command, telling the officers to simply shoot at Mao rather than to kill him, allows Mao to survive the gunfire. Mao then kidnaps and holds Nunnally hostage to lure out and eliminate Lelouch in an elaborate game. Lelouch and Suzaku collaborate and succeed in rescuing Nunnally and defeating Mao. In his last use of Geass, Mao reads into Suzaku's memories and reveals that Suzaku killed his own father in blind hope of ending the war between Japan and Britannia. Lelouch silences Mao through his Geass to prevent him from traumatizing Suzaku any further. Mao escapes, only to be confronted by C.C., who kills him with a bullet to the neck.

It is later chased through Ashford Academy by various students after wandering into the Lamperouge residence and escaping with Lelouch's Zero mask.
