[edit] Spanish Britons
Spanish Britons, British Spaniards or Spanish British are citizens of the United Kingdom whose ancestry originates from the southwest European nation of Spain. Spaniards are just one of the 20 Hispanic national groups, with Spain being the only Hispanic country not located in the Americas, and the only European country where Hispanicity originated.
Spanish people started to come to the UK at different times of the Twenthieth Century. Spanish people first arrived in great numbers in 1945 after the Spanish Civil War, when political exiles began to settle mainly in Westminster, Kensington, Chelsea and Camden. Many came seeking work, skills and education after the economic crisis in Spain. It is estimated that around 25,000 Spanish people live in North Kensington, focused around the Spanish School in Notting Hill and around Victoria.
