[edit] Placement of leased aircraft

Leasing companies ILFC, LCAL and CIT have orders for 41 787s as of December 31st, 2006.

On May 12, 2006, ILFC announced it had placed two 787-8s with Air Seychelles. The aircraft will be delivered in May and September of 2010, on 12 year leases. [70]

On May 29, 2006, ILFC reached an agreement with Aeroméxico to place 3 787-8s with that airline. The aircraft will be delivered from the beginning of 2010, for an unspecified lease period. These three aircraft are to be powered by GE's GEnx engine for Aeromexico. [71]

On August 7, 2006, Flyglobespan concluded the lease agreement of 2 Boeing 787-8 from ILFC [72].

On March 1, 2007, Royal Jordanian announced they would lease 4 787-8s from an unidentified lessor for delivery in 2010. They also stated that they are in final negotiations with Boeing for the direct purchase of 4 Dreamliner 787-8 aircraft. This would bring 8 new aircraft into the fleet in the period 2010-2014 and allow the phasing out of A310 and A340-200 aircraft. [73]

[edit] Possible future orders

  • British Airways is considering the 787 as part of its long haul fleet replacement program.[74]
  • Although neither have placed orders for the 787, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines have made bids to become part of the 787 GoldCare support program, providing maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.[75]
