[edit] Volume 1 - The Man Called Black Cat
[edit] Chapter 1 - The Man Called Black Cat
In the first volume, we are introduced to Sven and Train. They're both sweepers who travel from city to city, capturing outlaws and receiving the respective bounties. We get to know that the group's economic status isn't that good, but that doesn't stop Train from wanting one of his mega-lunches as usual. When they're having lunch, Sven and Train notice something going on. A wanted man, that Train instantaneous recognizes from a wanted leaflet Hally Affleck, is about to be taken out by his old mafia group. Train uses a smoke bomb to guarantee a safe exit to him, Sven, and Hally, and they return to the group's hideout. We learn about Hally's past as the mafia accountant, who didn't wish to be away from his family anymore and quit, and is now wanted both by the mafia and the sweepers. There's a brief comment about Train having a past he can't forget, too. As a last will before going to jail, Hally asks to see his family once again, as he hasn't had the chance to during all that time. Train carefreely agrees (After ironically calling carefree to Hally some pages before, but anyway you have to get used to Train's fun-serious change of attitude), but on the next day, early morning, as Sven is coming to pick Train and Hally up, a member of the mafia disguised as Sven shoots Hally. He, as Sven says, got on a dangerous cat's nerves, and is hunted down by Train on a rooftop after a firefight (Although you can't really call it a firefight, because Train blocks every single bullet the mafia member shoots, and shoots directly into the pistol barrels, exploding both of the mafia member's hands, before finishing him off. The mafia member accused Train of being a fake, as the Black Cat died two years ago when he betrayed his organisation, but Train showed him that he was the real Black Cat. The one and only.
[edit] Chapter 2 - The Messenger From Chronos
On the second chapter, Train and Sven are after Pad Reed, a famous "eat-and-runner" whose motto is that there is no place he can't eat and run from. Sven and Train wait until Pad is done eating (There is a small scene where Sven complains about Train falling asleep while he went to the bathroom), and chase him afterwards, but they are intercepted by a man that throws a knife at Pad to make Train stop, as he wants to talk to him, while Sven takes Pad to the hospital. Train recognizes the man as Cleaver, a Chronos eraser who wanted to become as skilled in killing as Train, who was his idol. Cleaver says that he never imagined someone as the "Black Cat" could be living as something like a sweeper, and that he is there to deliver a message in the name of the secret society Chronos. It would seem that Chronos wants Train back, and Cleaver was ordered to persuade Train, alias, The Black Cat to come back to Chronos, and if he refused, to kill him. Of course, Train's reflexes allow him to draw his weapon and shoot before Cleaver can even pull the trigger, and Cleaver's last breath is spent hearing from Train that "even if he could became as skilled as him, that would bring nothing good to him". The chapter ends with Train talking to Sven at night, Sven saying that Pad, "that lucky bastard", survived, and Train's happy that they have money for dinner.
[edit] Chapter 3 - Rinslet Walker
The chapter starts with Train and Sven walking into the Cait Sith café, owned by their friend, Annette Pierce, a former sweeper and information broker. While the three are bringing their conversation up-to-date, as Train and Sven haven't seen Annette in a long time, a blonde young woman suddenly walks into the café and asks for help (There is a humorous moment here as Train answers no because he's about to eat, and Sven, as a gentleman, kicks Train and offers his help to the lady). The young woman explains that she was chased by a group of thugs, which are outside the café, and Train, irritated, says he'll take care of them, and heads out of the café, while the young woman is worried about Train getting hurt and Sven telling her there's no problem there (Annette tells Train she doesn't want any dead bodies in front of the café, to what Train replies he won't die, and she tells him it's not him she's talking about). While Train is beating the whole group of thugs up, Sven asks the young woman why didn't she scare the group away with the gun she's holding in a pocket in her jacket, and adds that's not an amateur kind of gun. The young woman, after Train is done with the thugs, shows herself as Rinslet Walker, one of the most worldwidely famous thieves. She says she wants to form an alliance with them, as she needs the strength of two sweepers like them, specially if one of them is the former "Black Cat".
[edit] Chapter 4 - An Alliance
One day later, Train and Sven are back to one of their hideouts. Train remarks how clean it is, and Sven notes Annette has been taking care of it. When Sven asks Train if he is going to accept Rinslet Walker's request to form an alliance, a flashback occurs, where Rinslet tells the details of the job. Sven and Train are supposed to capture a criminal, head of an organization that smuggles weapons, named Torneo Rudman. Apparently, Rinslet is targeting the laboratory that holds the data of a research program, that she can only naturally access on Torneo's absence. Rinslet says that if they want to participate in the gamble of their lifetime, to meet her at the Republic of Sapidor in three days. Back to the present, Train says there's no reason not to accept the challenge, while he shoots what appears to be an owl. He affirms that refusal would leave a scar on the Black Cat's reputation. Back on Sapidor, Rinslet notices how her owl-shaped camera has been obliterated, even though being 100 meters away from Train and Sven's hideout. In the meanwhile, at Torneo Rudman's home, Torneo is waked from his sleep by the announcement of a visit. The mysterious man comments on Torneo's tight security, to which he replies the authorities and many sweepers have been targeting him, and adds that it doesn't even compare to that man's case, who is chased not only by the authorities, but also by Chronos, an unimaginable thing. He comments on how fit the man is to use his "God research", that will allow him to destroy this boring world.
[edit] Chapter 5 - The Girl in Black
Three days after Rinslet's offer, Train and Sven are on a plane landing on Sapidor. As soon as they exit, they meet with Rinslet, who provokes them saying she didn't think they would really come, but Train replies that if she didn't, she wouldn't be standing there. Rinslet offers to have lunch with them. After lunch, when Rinslet is returning from having gone to do something, only Sven is sitting, and she says that she was going to explain the rest of the plan, to which Sven replies the location of the mansion is all they need, and it would be better if she adapted to their pace of work. Rinslet is surprised, as she is used to control all men, and asks herself where could have Train gone. While Train is jumping the outern wall of the mansion after checking the surveillance camers' blind spot, Rinslet is worried about Train making an error, and Sven replies that's not a worry when talking about the Black Cat. Rinslet then says that Torneo's not an ordinary man, as he even conducts unimaginable research in his lab, realising seconds later she wasn't supposed to let that out. Sven then tells her it would be fair if they all knew about Torneo's research, as they're allies, after all. Meanwhile, Train is exploring the gardens of the mansion, when he senses the smell of blood, and a little girl in black stands near a dead guard and a live one, crawling away from her and constantly telling Torneo he's sorry, to which Torneo replies it's too late. He tells Eve that's the game of tag, and she's the demon (In Japanese, the "it" is called "the demon"), and the little girl extends her hand into a giant metal blade that she tries to kill the guard with, but a gunshot interrupts the action. The girl looks up to find Train, that says the game of tag should be more fun. Rinslet tells Sven the research Torneo's conducting has the ultimate aim of creating a human bio-weapon, and the image switches back to the little girl.

The run around for a bit, then Sven goes to search for Eve while Train "hypnotises" the guards and walks right past them. We learn that Train does not wish to kill anyone trying to get in, so he only shoots at arms and legs(much like the awsome Vash the Stampede).
[edit] Chapter 10 - Freedom
The scene opens with the situation in Torneo's house. Finally, Sven met Troneo still with his wound opens. then, the scene switches to Rins, entering Torneo's lab where she saw monsters, which are Torneo's experiment. Back to Sven, Sven asks Eve whether she wants to be freed, which Eve said yes and made Torneo angry.Torneo then was about to put NS medicine, which can make Eve maximise her power but can never bring her back to normal figure. Just when the medicine is about to be put, fortunately, Train shoots the medicine and Sven, with anger, punch Torneo hardly. Torneo's assistant then tried to shoot Sven, but then protected by Eve.Train, hurriedly punch the assistant down. Then Eve said that she is okay and showed to Sven that she turned her stomach(where it is shot) to metal by the nano machine power. Torneo then sees Train and realises that Train is the real Black Cat. Torneo then said that if Train hurts Torneo, 'that' man named Creed will not be quiet, which makes Train amazed and the chapter ends.
[edit] Chapter 11 - Creed
Train, amazed by what Torneo said, asks him harshly(means by punches and shoots) to where Creed is. Sven then punch him down and told him to calm down which calms him down. Torneo, scared said that he doesn't know where Creed is, but had given him nano machine.then suddenly, an exploxion happens where Torneo's lab is which then be discovered that the explosion was made by Rins.Torneo then so shock that he became blank-minded. Then Sven said that he rather takes Eve rather than giving him to the policemen that will make Eve still becoming an experiment. He asks Train whether it is okay to waste 50 000 000 yen, and then Train said it is okay. The next day, while discussing about Eve, to take her with them or not, suddenly, Rins and Eve arrive with Eve's new clothes. Then after sometime, the decided to take Eve with them. The scene change to Torneo coming out from the police car. Suddenly, the 4 policemen couldn't control their hands and pointed their guns to Torneo and shot him. Then we can see that Creed and a weird guy are talking about Train. Back to Train and the others, Rins decided to go and the three left decided to go to a Carnaval at Elsida. The chapter ends.
