Lise Simms

Elisabeth Caroline Simms (born March 17, 1962) credited as Lise Simms is an American actress, singer and dancer.

Simms grew up in Southern Colorado, the sixth of nine children of Bill and Jacque Simms. Her brother Tom Simms is a Spanish and Language Arts teacher at Roncalli Middle School in Pueblo, Colorado. Lise graduated from Pueblo Centennial High School in Pueblo in 1980 and from Oklahoma State University in 1984 with a BS in journalism before taking a career in designing and acting. She is married to the actor Terry Rhoads; the couple has no children.

[edit] Broadway and theater

Lise starred in numerous plays such as Other People's Money, Mame, Can-Can, Sweet Charity, and Bye Bye Birdie. She was also a member of the original Los Angeles cast of Beauty and the Beast and toured around the world with A Chorus Line in 1986.

Simms was the host of Style Network's Area. She had a recurring role on Sunset Beach, but is best known for her role as "Barbara Diffy", Phil's mom in the Disney Channel Original Series Phil of the Future, where she also played "The Timekeeper" in the episode "It's a Wonder-Phil Life". She had a recurring role as "Connie Wayne" in the soap opera The Young and the Restless, and made guest appearances on Friends, Providence, Madtv, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and many others. She performed for President Reagan in 1988's Great Performances at the White House series, which aired on PBS.

Simms has been in commercials for the game Jenga, the remedies Tums, Maalox and Advil, and Dairy Queen "Moolatte" shakes. At one time, she co-hosted an infomercial for the AeroBed and has done infomercials for Rug Doctor carpet cleaning products. She has appeared in Disney Channel's Express Yourself segments with other Disney Channel stars.
