Lisa Bentley
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lisa Bentley is a Canadian elite athlete in the sport of Triathlon. She has been competing on the Ironman race series since late in the 1990s.
She ranks among the likes of Natascha Badmann and Paula Newby-Fraser as once of the most successful triathletes of all time. This is despite her never having won an ironman world championship in Kona Hawaii. In 2005 she began the race with a ruptured appendix but had to withdraw during the run when the pain became unbearable. In 2006 she placed third at the world championships, a best ever showing.
She is known as an excellent runner and often comes from behind off the bike to win. Diagnosed in her 20's with Cystic Fibrosis Lisa has become a role model for much broader audience.
