[edit] Issue with the 50-60 Hz Flickering Comment

I think that the flickering that occurs at 50-60Hz on CRT's occurs because this is interference from the power lines, which have AC current at a frequency of 60Hz. Can anyone confirm/deny this?--Tristandeboer 16:16, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Comparison

Someone on the Plasma TV page asked for a comparison of Plasma TVs and LCD TVs. I added the following link. Those on this page may be interested as well. The link: * http://www.plasma-vs-lcd.com Plasma-vs-LCD.com Plasma TVs and LCD TVs compared]

[edit] The article needs editing and a "Functional details" section

The "Developments in LCD televisions" section needs some editing. The second paragraph starts talking about CRT TV which is confusing: Moving pictures on a CRT TV do not exhibit any sort of "trails" or "ghosting" ... Instead it should probably start by saying that LCD TVs may exhibit "trails" or "ghosting" (if this is the case).

Also a "Functional details" section is needed as in the "Plasma display" article to explain how LCD displays work.

[edit] Sheet

What is the purpose of this section? It doesn't give any information. Dulldull 17:49, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Universal Capablilties

The "multisystem" capabilities is not unique to LCD television sets, and it is indeed NOT universal at all. Such capabilities have been integrated in European & Asian sets for over 20 years (when they were still CRTs), but have never been popular in North America, where monitors are only made to NTSC specifications. Even now most U.S. versions of HDTV sets can only receive ATSC signals. Dulldull 17:49, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

can someone tell me how to check a LCD without actually being connected tio its circuit ? is it possible by providing certain voltage at definate voltage pins ?? nimishpancholi@yahoo.com Nimish Pancholi.

I will be taking off the universal capabilities of LCD televisions, as that information is factually inaccurate. While SOME LCD TVs are, in fact, universal, many sets in north america are only capable of receiving local television. With a lack of SCART connectors and with the current deployment of DTT systems in Europe (many of which will not offer HD capabilities) it is unlikely that we will see all televisions turn universal any time soon. Even some modern LCD TVs sold in North America require separate tuners for ATSC HDTV!!! And Americans are oblivious as to the meaning of teletext!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.8.234.192 (talkcontribs).
