[edit] proposed organization

  • signal transuction (DAG, IP3)
  • eicosanoids
  • mitogens/chemokines (sphingosine-1-phosphate [S1P], lysophosphatidic acid [LPA)
  • endocannabinoids (anandamide [and other N-acylethanolamines], 2-arachidonoylglycerol)

[edit] don't forget:

  • the endocannabinoids (e.g., anandamide)!
  • Eicosanoids – I think these belong here. Is there a formal definition of lipid signaling? David.Throop 12:50, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] To-do

  • Describe general pathway roles
  • Describe receptors activating the pathway, its downstream targets and role in various cell types and physiological processes
  • Prepare a diagram
  • Add references
