Lipson Vale Halt railway station

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lipson Vale Halt was a small railway station that served the Lipson area of Plymouth in Devon, United Kingdom. It was situated between Laira Halt and the older station at Mutley, on the other side of the tunnel beneath Mutley Plain.

The station was opened by the Great Western Railway on 1 June 1904 along with several other small stations as part of a scheme to introduce a suburban train service. The service was withdrawn on 7 July 1930, although local Southern Railway trains continued to call until 4 May 1942 when the station was closed and dismantled as its wooden platforms were thought to be a fire risk during The Blitz.
