Lipótváros

Lipótváros (meaning Leopold city) is the northern part of Budapest's District V in the north of the inner city. It is bordered by Szent István körút, Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út, Deák Ferenc utca and the Danube river. Most of its buildings were constructed in the late 19th century, many of them are of artistic beauty.

Before the Second World War it was mainly populated by higher-class Jewish citizens. Currently, its population is mainly comprised of elderly people as is a tendency of younger people moving out to the suburbs. This district is gradually becoming the financial-administrative center of Budapest with a great number of people commuting in daily.
