Lionshead is a pilsner produced by Lion Brewery, Inc. in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It is made with American malts, corn and hops. Its cheap price (around $10 per case) and generally unoffensive taste make it a favorite for college students. It is primarily available in Pennsylvania, though some retailers in other mid-Atlantic states carry it.
Until 2005, Lionshead was well known for displaying playing cards under each twist-off cap. Currently, they display rebus puzzles originally created by the Falstaff Brewing Corporation. The barely and hop design on the top was also used on Falstaff's Haffenreffer Private Stock Malt Liquor and Ballantine Ale.[1] Solutions for all of the puzzles can be found here.
