LionShare

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

LionShare is a software project designed to facilitate file sharing among educational institutions around the world. It is based on the open-source LimeWire file sharing program written in Java.

LionShare began as an experimental software development project at Penn State University and has now grown to be a collaborative effort between researchers and developers at Penn State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Simon Fraser University, and the Internet2 P2P Working Group. A grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation funded the first two years of the project.

As of December 2006, the latest version of LionShare is 1.1 (released on 2006-06-09).
