I hereby give you a curious looking red star for your userpage, for dealing with those Perverted Justice people and getting them to publish your letter clearing up the facts. Mindspillage (spill yours?) 16:54, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

So Jesus used this illustration: 'If you had one hundred sheep, and one of them strayed away and was lost in the wilderness, wouldn't you leave the ninety-nine others to go and search for the lost one until you found it? And then you would joyfully carry it home on your shoulders. When you arrived, you would call together your friends and neighbors to rejoice with you because your lost sheep was found. In the same way, heaven will be happier over one lost sinner who returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven't strayed away!' --Luke 15:3-7

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. --John 3:16

[edit] Who I am

My name is Alex Schenck. I'm a Wikipedia administrator and bureaucrat, Meta administrator, IRC channel operator, auxiliary MediaWiki developer, part-time article editor, and generally fun guy.

[edit] Wikipedia stuff

You can find lots of neato stuff that somehow involve me here. If you're interested in stuff on Meta, such as Wikimania 2006 (in which I am and will be a.) participating, b.) volunteering, and possibly c.) presenting), then go to my Meta user page.

[edit] Administrative-related

I have been an administrator since 06 June, 2005. You may find my RFA (which passed 45/4/1) here. Additionally, I ran for bureaucrat in late August 2005 but did not pass (22/13/10). However, I ran again in December 2005 and was promoted with a 98.36% support rate (120/2/2). I was approved as a Freenode-Wikimedia IRC group contact on 31 July, 2006.

A note regarding Requests for adminship: I, along with a number of other administrators and editors, are of the school of thought that while it served its purpose well for a long time, it is now obsolete (or at least very broken). I would like to hear your thoughts on the matter as well.

[edit] Editing-related

That's why we're here in the first place! I personally think that we need more editors and less people like myself ( ;-) ) lest we lose a balanced sight of Wikipedia's purpose.

All hope is not lost for me, however. I am the driving force behind the vast majority of the Civil Air Patrol article. I am very proud of this article for several reasons: not only is it some of my best work, it is also a featured article. I also heavily participated in bringing Half-Life 2 up to featured article status.

I am [slowly] working on bringing another article up to Featured status: fencing.

[edit] IRC-related

I normally lurk around on Freenode, which coincidentally is where Wikipedia has its IRC channel. I am a channel operator, so if you need help or if someone is harassing you, do not hesitate to ask for help.

Places you will find me include:

In November of 2005, I decided to take a rather bold action by allowing two banned editors, JarlaxleArtemis and MARMOT, to be allowed back into the community. This decision was permitted by the Arbitration Committee and approved by Jimbo Wales. The Mentorship Committee was formed with the intent of monitoring these users for a year. I am one of the founding members of this committee.

As of right now, JarlaxleArtemis appears to be making progress as a productive editor. MARMOT, however, was reblocked by Curps in January.

[edit] Edit this user page

Seriously! Do stuff to it... make it pretty, make it amazing. Just don't be a jerk and vandalize it, because I know that over twenty editors have this page on their watchlists. But... have fun otherwise!
