Linthicum family in Maryland
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Linthicum family were Welsh immigrants who likely entered the colonies at London Town. Thomas Linthicum would obtain a large tract of land in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He would rename the portion of land in what is today Crofton, Maryland, "Linthicum Walks." Upon his death, this land was inherited by Thomas Linthicum II. He gave as a wedding present a portion of it to his son Thomas Linthicum III, who would build the home Linthicum Walks that exists to this day. As George Washington travelled the adjacent Post road of "Ridge Road" (today's Route 424), he likely stayed here during his travels to and from Annapolis and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and his home at Mount Vernon, Virginia.
