Lino Lakes is a city in Anoka County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 16,791 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 86.0 km² (33.2 mi²). 73.1 km² (28.2 mi²) of it is land and 12.9 km² (5.0 mi²) of it (15.03%) is water. Rice Creek flows through the city.[1]
There is no main shopping center, but there are several in adjoining or nearby communities. The main high school for the area is Centennial High School. The middle school is Centennial Middle School, and there are six elementary schools. They are Centerville Elementary, Centennial Elementary, Rice Lake Elementary, Golden Lake Elementary, Blue Heron Elementary, and Lino Lakes Elementary. Most kids from Lino Lakes Elementary go to Southwest Jr. High, and then to Forest Lake Senior High School.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 16,791 people, 4,857 households, and 4,162 families residing in the city. The population density was 229.7/km² (595.1/mi²). There were 4,921 housing units at an average density of 67.3/km² (174.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.66% White, 2.48% African American, 0.73% Native American, 1.14% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.68% from other races, and 1.29% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.54% of the population.
There were 4,857 households out of which 55.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 77.6% were married couples living together, 5.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.3% were non-families. 10.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 2.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.20 and the average family size was 3.47.
In the city the population was spread out with 33.7% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 39.8% from 25 to 44, 16.7% from 45 to 64, and 3.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 118.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 124.8 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $75,708, and the median income for a family was $79,183. Males had a median income of $50,089 versus $36,220 for females. The per capita income for the city was $25,419. About 2.1% of families and 3.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.6% of those under age 18 and 1.4% of those age 65 or over.
