[edit] Origins

The network's origins date back to the formation of Christian Community Church (CCC), Palmerston North, in the early 1980s, under the ministry of Fraser Hardy. The son of a Baptist minister, Hardy became involved in the charismatic-prophetic movement and this formed the basis of the new church. He developed an association with Barney Coombs, a leader in the charismatic restorationist movement in Britain, who took an apostolic role in connection with the church.

Hardy and Palmerston North CCC affiliated with Coombs' Salt & Light Ministries[2], and as the church grew took an interest in church planting. At the same time friendships grew with other churches who similarly identified with the prophetic and relational emphasis of CCC. These churches eventually formalised their relationship in the form of LinkNZ.
