[edit] First Encounter

SG-1 first encountered Linea on "Hadante" after a hasty sentence of life imprisonment by an unseen judge, the "Taldor," for unknowingly "aiding" a murderer in the episode Prisoners. Linea soon took Captain Carter under her protection because she knows "what it is like to be a woman in Hadante." SG-1 quickly noticed Linea's adept ability at manipulating plants and herbs, reflecting a skilled chemist, which she attritubes to her knowledge of the "basics," which Carter interprets as atoms and molecules. Her skill becomes apparent as she is able to purify the meager rations given to the prisoners as well as allow a blind a man to see (who strangely flees in fear upon receiving sight): all with a few drops of liquid. In addition, Daniel picks a fight with the prison bully, Vishnor, who nearly succeeds in killing Daniel had Linea not intervened, rendering the two unconscious with a strange hand-held device somewhat resembling and worn in the same fashion as a Goa'uld healing device (since it's unlikely the Taldor would allow Linea to bring a weapon to Hadante, she may've found it). Nonetheless, SG-1 wonders how such a kind woman could ever end up in such a prison. However, Linea, in no way, maintains her innocence as she explains that she accidentally killed half the population of a planet by producing a vaccine that only served to spread a contagious sickness faster rather than inhibit it.

Since Carter resolves that SG-1 needs a power source to dial the gate manually, they turn to Linea who produces a wonder even Carter is barely able to explain: organically driven cold fusion. Knowing SG-1's need, Linea strikes a deal with them that includes allowing her to accompany them back to Earth. Colonel O'Neill readily agrees to this exchange, taking any chance to free SG-1 from Hadante. They successfully dial the gate and eventually return to Earth.

At the SGC, Linea is profusely thanked for giving SG-1 the means to escape. While O'Neill briefs Hammond on the events leading up to and during their imprisonment, Carter shows Linea a computer whereby she can "represent the basics" (draw the atomic structure) of her cold fusion activator. As Carter looks on in eagerness, Linea thanks her and suddenly brandishes her hand-device and knocks Carter out. Immediately, Linea begins to sift through hundreds of gate addresses. In the meantime, SG-3 brings in the sneaky inmate who explains that he was frightened upon being cured of his blindness because he saw Linea, whom he calls the "Destroyer of Worlds." Moreover, he says that she actually created the sickness as a weapon in a war between island states. Before they can apprehend Linea, she programs the computer to dial the gate and steps through. The base self-destruct miraculously stops and a single, ominous message appears on the computer, "Thank you for your kindness. All debts have now been paid."

[edit] Ke'ra and the Vorlix

Linea became Ke'ra after "the Vorlix."
Linea became Ke'ra after "the Vorlix."

A year later, SG-1 came upon a planet, Vyus, stricken with mass amnesia, void of children and "elders" ("Past and Present"). They soon meet a young woman, Ke'ra, who slowly helps SG-1 uncover the origin of this strange event, coined "the Vorlix." Eventually, they realize Linea initiated the Vorlix, which had a "fountain of youth" effect on everyone, from a chemical called Dargol. SG-1 realizes Ke'ra highly resembles Linea in her chemical knowledge and eventually confirm it. Ke'ra, who helps develop a way to reverse the amnesia, secretly uncovers her own psychological dopplegänger and resolves to commit suicide. Daniel, who had developed quite a rapport with Linea, stops her and Carter develops a medicine to recreate the amnesia. Since Linea is effectively gone, Ke'ra returns to rebuild the collapsing society on Vyus.

[edit] Personality

Though Linea has the mindset of a psychopathic mass murderer, she seems to genuinely care for SG-1 and Earth since they helped her escape Hadante. However, it may possible that the formula for her activator was only a toxic substance which could've been very deadly when synthesized. It's also possible that the design was destroyed when she programmed the base computer to crash. It's most likely that the formula was lost as it is never mentioned again in the show. As Linea and Ke'ra, she shows a propensity to easily understand the natural world in making her activators, vaccine for the Vorlix, and when she contemplates suicide by producing a poison gas. In addition, she programs an Earth computer in a very short time, which leads to the conclusion that she can learn the functions and designs of several things very quickly. This ability is remniscient of Jonas Quinn's race who can absorb knowledge in the same timely fashion.

Linea's transformation into Ke'ra also seems to change her personality. Even when Ke'ra learns of who she really is, her solution to kill herself is quite altruistic. By destroying herself, Ke'ra would be preventing the destruction of any more worlds more so than ever since she now has a much younger body which can plant seeds of destruction for another lifetime. So, it would appear the Vorlix caused an irreparable shift in Linea's personality, causing her to value life more than want to take it. In only a very short portion of Past and Present Ke'ra is seen when she acknowledges to Daniel that there is "a person inside me who would gladly watch you die." Though Linea is shown as almost a separate entity within Ke'ra, the former is more of a personification of the desire to destroy. With Daniel's help, Ke'ra resists her own id until Carter is able to make sure Ke'ra permanently forgets who she ever was.
