Line 13, Beijing Subway
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Line 13 is part of the Beijing Subway network, and is also known as the CityRail Line. Line 13 serves the Northern suburbs of the city, forming an inverted U-shape. Most of the line is above ground, with some sections elevated several metres above street level. It runs between Xizhimen and Dongzhimen stations and interchanges with Line 2 at these two stations.
Line 13 was opened in two phases: The western section between Xizhimen and Huoying was opened on September 28, 2002; the eastern section from Huoying to Dongzhimen was opened on January 28, 2003. Despite its number, it was in fact only the third line of the Beijing Subway to open to the public.
It is the first Beijing Subway line to adopt Yikatong, which was introduced at the end of 2003. Tickets cost CNY 3. Transfer tickets to and from Line 1 and Line 2 are also available for CNY 5 (a saving of CNY 1 over the combined fares, which doesn't apply if you use Yikatong).
