Lindstrand Technologies

Lindstrand Technologies have designed, manufactured and type-certified a wide range of lighter-than-air vehicles including hot air balloons, thermal airships, gas balloons, and is the largest manufacturer of manned tethered aerostats. In 2002 Lindstrand Technologies manufactured the parachute for the Beagle 2 Marslander in specially constructed clean room facilities. Beagle 2 was launched in June 2003 on a Russian Soyuz rocket and landed six months later on the Planet Mars.
The company was founded and managed by pilot, aeronautical engineer and adventurer, Per Lindstrand from a manufacturing site in Oswestry, England operating there since 1978, initially as Colt Balloons, then Thunder and Colt Balloons and more recently Lindstrand Balloons and Lindstrand Technologies.
Lindstrand Technologies also designs and builds advanced inflatable architectural structures and buildings, innovative inflatable safety plugs for road tunnels and inflatable flood defence barriers.
